The time comes when every Fantasy Football manager has to react quickly to douse some fires in their squad. The problem is, my team is currently a blazing inferno, without a disco in sight.

At least that’s Granville’s opinion. Buoyed from seeing his canny capture of Anthony Martial deliver a brace at St Mary’s, my cocky co-host is quick to dish out a whipping to my ailing lineup.

We discuss the merits of United’s new teenage sensation as part of another round of community questions, served up once again by Jonty. The three of us also ponder the Chelsea revival, David Silva’s fragile ankles and just how our Fantasy Football managerial styles translate to the dog world: a crunch question that’s been brewing unanswered for many episodes.

    Morning DZ,

    Either of these stand out? I'm looking at Wilson -> Pelle (or Trmy/Falcao-> Pelle if I go that route) in GW9 and I've talked myself out of Martial until his fixtures ease in GW11/12.

    A) Benteke -> Gomis/Remy/Falcao
    B) Benteke -> Vardy (leaves enough for Mane -> Pedro next week)
    C) Benteke -> Ighalo (leaves enough for Mane -> Haz next week)

          The choice between Vardy and Ighalo is a coin flip for me almost.

          I would say Vardy has slightly better stats so I'm leaning in that direction.

            Yeah, plus he plays for the more attacking team. If they were the same price I'd definitely go Vardy, but the extra 1.1m is big enough to make a difference.

            That being said, I can afford something like

            GW7: Tekkers -> Vardy
            GW8: Mane -> Pedro
            GW9: Coates -> JEvans

            Thoughts?

              Meant to say that if going with Ighalo I'd get Azpil instead of Jevans in GW9.

              So essentially its:

              A) JEvans & Vardy, or
              B) Azpil & Ighalo

        Yeah, I'm not sure whether to keep or get rid of Mane after this week. che/liv in 2 of the next 3 and wanting a CHE mid would be the only reason. Can't really justify ditching Silva (NEW) if fit, or Mahrez, so that means it's either Mane or Sanchez out. And I'm quite bias towards Alexis. I guess that may change if he blanks again this week.

    I disagree with the people who say that Speroni is first choice now as he was on the bench for C1C.......this is because if he were fit , he would have played to increase his match fitness or he would not have featured at all

      Interesting way of categorising the teams as its a much more footballistic approach to categorising defences than a straight fantasy article. I like it as it breaks up the overly fantasy focused articles here but for that its fpl message is blurred a bit.

      Honestly though it could do with a fifth category for "Steaming Piles of ***" for which I'd throw, Sunderland, Newcastle and Stoke into as teams that try but are just looking inept at the back.

      As another aside, Man U really and truly need to be in group A. If Ruth thinks LVG will bow to external pressures to have an attacking team, I think he's sorely mistaken.

          there's no chance of a clean sheet IMO..just a matter of whether Martial is involved. Sunderland have conceded the most goals in the league and the 2nd most attempts on goal. They're terrible in defense and can't afford to just sit back and defend IMO

              I know the feeling. I don't think he's a bad pick, Benteke to Martial makes some sense. But I don't get those transferring Gomis, a healthy player who has scored 4 in 6 this season, to Martial (unless they also have Ayew).

              If it looks like Gomis is going to drop again before the deadline I might feel some pressure to make the same move even though I don't want to. If Gomis drops again he will be below what I paid for him.

        The only way I could have got Martial is, if I had downgraded Sanchez. I was not too keen about that. I know martial's going to score and maybe I'll own him 2gws down the line... Let's see

          yes , there was no realistic way i could bring Martial in that would have made t a sensible decision. to go -4 so early in the week was a no no especially before the league cup games.

    I feel like people are just gifting Liverpool some sort of status based on the name/history of the club instead of paying attention to their form..seems to happen quite often on here.

    Richards is not a bad play this weekend IMO.

          I'm not sure what you're basing their improved attack on. Hazard scoring v 9 men or goals against a team in a lower division I guess.

        Right now he's first choice and I'm confident he'll keep his place in the team. I think if we were to rotate for a Champions League game or something Koscielny could even be the one rested.

            I personally think we can keep 3-4, our defence is looking solid Cech just needs to get his act together. A year of not playing seems to have affected his game a lot.
