The Dugout Discussion – Watford versus Crystal Palace

There’s just the one Premier League fixture for Fantasy managers to monitor over their Sunday lunches, with Watford welcoming Crystal Palace to Vicarage Road.

It’s a tale of two sides with conflicting form: the Hornets are riding high after back-to-back victories, while the Eagles’ wings have been clipped by successive defeats.

Watford rank third-bottom for goals conceded (five) and big chances conceded (five), illustrating their diligence at the back. Moreover, they are the only side in the league that are yet to concede a home goal this campaign. The Hornets have added a sting to their defensive resolve in recent Gameweeks, too, recording wins over Swansea and Newcastle.

The Eagles amassed eight goals through the opening four Gameweeks but have registered consecutive blanks since then. Also of concern to Alan Pardew is the fact that Palace have conceded more shots inside the box (66) than any team in the league. That being said, they rank sixth for big chances (10) and shots on target (28), which should ensure that Watford’s back line are in for a testing afternoon.

      I was lucky enough to have him, but I didn't captain him. Was between Aguero, Martial, De Bruyne, Payet, and Sanchez for me, went with Martial(c), Aguero(vc). Disappointed, but not too bad.

            Overall? No clue, but in my league no one had him. It was a great differential, if I captained him I would have been running away with my league.

          I ranked my options as:

          1) Martial
          2) Aguero
          3) De Bruyne
          4) Sanchez
          5) Payet

          So the likelihood that I would captain Sanchez was very low. Pretty sad that the two guys I thought would do best did the worst while the other three were solid. Only comfort is that I got an extra three points out of Martial compared to if I went with Aguero.

    Looking at my front 8 for next week, seven of them have tremendous form, or great fixturs (or both). The only tricky one is Ayew

    Time for AOA next week? Not sure if I'll get a better shot and after I WC in 3-4 weeks, I'll have a dirt cheap 5th mid, so AOA may no longer be worth it then.

      Not sure.think when I wild card I'm going on do it with this and bench chip in mind. It's not a game changing chip anyway so no real loss if it don't pay off

    Can't figure out what to do. Need to do something before Wilson's price drop.

    Ighalo/Deeney doesn't seem too appealing and Vardy is a bit too expensive.Will be able to do only if I take a point hit.

    Aguero/Sakho/Wilson

    I know the defence needs work,but nothing urgent.Muniesa and Haidara are rotated in my team anyways

    1) Do Nothing and take the Wilson price drop.
    2) Wilson to Vardy and downgrade elsewhere. Maybe Sterling to Walcott/Ozil

    Thinking about keeping Wilson in my team for another week and go 3-5-2 because if he drops 0.1m then it wont affect my selling price.

    Not sure how long Ayew's 2 point draught is going to last but getting quite frustrated with him, if i sell ive got £8.5m max to spend. Looking at Payet (dont have any West Ham coverage) but in case im missing anyone, what are the opinions in the mid price for midfielders?

    really unlucky for mccarthy owners, watford are the one team you're almost guaranteed a clean sheet against. the timing for his benching is very bad luck, now hennesey will retain his spot too.
