Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

When one of your players (not even hugely owned) bangs in a hat trick and a defender scores... It is supposed to be a pretty good week.

    Not to be.
    Another drop in ranking.
Stuck around the 1.2 mill rank for 4 weeks now.

My team value is slowly rising tho.
Need Silva and Ward to jump back in again.

in four games man utd scored 3 goals

then martial comes in and they score 9 in three games

check out the teams that they play against. hardly defensively sound teams.

of course utd has improved.. but one reason is mata improving form.

David Silva gets injured, De Bruyne scores two goals, and everyone forgets who was making City tick when they looked untouchable earlier in the season. If he's fit, he's the man.

Yes defensively they're lost without Kompany. Offensively they struggle without Silva. Those two seem irreplacable even with their squad quality.

No it doesn't, but the dynamic will change when Silva returns and we don't know how it will effect KDB. One thing is for sure - his points will go down

Making City tick doesn't mean he will get more points than KDB. I think Silva is more like the assister of the assister (is that a word?).

Part of my strategy. I divide my season into 3 parts.

Up to GW13 the priority is value maximisation, riding bandwagons, avoiding falls. Timing my WC for maximum rises, which occured in GW2.

        GW14-26 regular game

GW27-38 points maximisation. NO HITS. WC for maximum points. Ignore price rises and drops.

Yes. Well Wilson has to go really doesn't he is that transfer is fine imo? So the question really is Ayew to KDB worth a -4 and surely that is a yes

Why do the purists insist on captaining a forward? Seems easier for the top midfielders to get to decent points with the way assists, points for clean sheets. I have played Toure, Mahrez, Payet as captains. In each case 16, 11 and 8 pts became 32, 22, 16.

For a forward it will take a brace or hattie to come close. Sorry for the newbie question

    1. Pochecinno
      • 10 Years
      10 years, 4 months ago

I think the 'purists' insist on captaining a 'big-hitter' not necessarily a forward:

Hazard, Sanchez, Silva, Yaya are often considered by purists

    2. AppleDunk
      • 12 Years

Because forwards are nearer to the opposition's goal?

    3. money face bandwagon
      • 12 Years

sanchez hazard mata (best options in their respective teams who are top 4 last season) are all midfielders in FPL..only aguero(when on form he is city best option) is a forward

not to mention payet mahrez silva etc.

so nope there is no need to insist captaining a forward.

    City mids:

Despite recent form and injuries, I personally think Silva and Yaya are the ones to go. Silva makes City tick and Yaya is explosive. Sterling is meh (I'm a reluctant owner) and KDB is currently benefitting from Silva's absence

    1. Gianfranco Zola
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member

I'm holding onto Silva in the same belief. But while Silva is the better player and makes the team tick, KDB looks like he could have more end product.

Well it's all guesswork until we see Silva and KdB play together. You can't say "Silva makes City tick" when there is a new variable now. Time will tell.

Agree. Difficult to tell with Chelsea mids. Pedro hasnt quite lived up to the hype of the first two games. Hazard hasn't been the same. The points are spread between the rest.

Until they find some form its best to avoid imo.

Is Payet close to a 'must-have' this weekend?

Sunderland are horrible...they showed signs of improvement vs Spurs but looks like they've regressed once again.

I think he is. West Ham are on fire away from home as well. I'm going to get him back in after selling him on my WC earlier in the season.

Yea, I can just about afford Ayew > Payet this week for free if Yaya is fit.

If Yaya is out, then it's an easier decision.

West Ham have done well away from home because they have played on the break against attacking teams (ARS, LIV and MCI) - it will be a different sort of game against SUN so will be interesting to see.

That said, Im very happy to have Payet in my line-up!

This is a much more sensible question than "season keeper". Thanks Shifty.

And I'd say yes. Very impressive player and Sunderland are still pants.

Anyone considering Lukaku as an option going forward?

Meyerside Derby followed by some tasty fixtures from GW11 onward.

Seems like he can score against anyone and Everton really benefitting from not having Europa this season.

I have him (and Barkley) pencilled in to my WC team for GW12/13

Pelle and Lukaku fall in that 'don't get frustrated...own for the long haul' category. I might have to choose only 1 come GW10/11 and it might just be Lukaku as he's on pens and some set pieces.

Think I'll go for Barkley because I know if I get Lukaku I'll captain him in easy fixtures like I've always done in previous seasons and he'll get 2 points and then score a brace as soon as I take him out.

      1. Shifty
        • 12 Years

the trick is not to captain Lukaku against easy opponents.

This, owning him and not expecting explosions + patience is a virtue is a must with Lukaka.

You can't get frustrated when he blanks vs easy opposition, and not be surprised when he scores in difficult fixtures.

which 2 mids under 6.0 do you lot recommend?

You'll have to dig deep and look at the fixtures for that. Parejo of Valencia looks good for GW3 and 4. But very decent choices at 7M plus. Maybe you should go for a starting 3M or 4M guy and a big buy.

If your two keepers were Myhill and McCarthy, would you transfer one of them out for a hit or take the risk of playing this week with no keeper?

A couple more questions re: UCL Fantasy (First go at it 🙂 )

    1) Any leagues anyone has I can join?
    2) To put a player who did bad on Saturday on my bench for a player playing Sunday is done for free correct?
    3) How many points is deducted per extra transfer/GW?

    Thanks in advance!!

Hows this for a WC Team?

    Lloris // Hennessey
    Monreal // Janmaat // Nyom // Souare // O'Shea
    Hazard // Sanchez // Coutinho // Mane // Fletcher
    Aguero // Vardy // Ighalo

    1. Slam

      I personally don't like it.
Lloris is a good pick but find 0.5 for a 100% nailed on keeper
The defence definitely needs work, it lacks flexibility for more expensive options later on. Kolarov? Ivanovic?

      Nice midfield

Good forwards but in order to upgrade everything else, I would do Kun -> Studge and upgrade

Lloris is a 100% nailed on keeper...

Rest of my upgrades will be based on Hazard's / Sanchez's performance..if Pedro or Walcott perform equally good..then will degrade the funds to them and use it to upgrade the defense..

Ivan has been poor not interested in him...Sturridge is a tackle away from Injury...To have this mid and forward..defense has to pay the price..

        Thanks 🙂

      Very nice.

Not sure on Couts and Ighalo. Payet + Ayoze?

Actually why not Aguero > Sturridge. Free up some serious cash?

Sturridge is always an injury concern and Aguero has 2 good fixtures coming up...

Coutinho I think will benefit from Sturridge playing as a striker..

Ayoze I can bring after the Man City game...

    3. Shifty

I'd ditch Hazard & Coutinho to get Sturridge if on WC.

I fear you won't get many cleanies with that defence.

Why? He's injury prone, Liverpool are crap and don't have good fixtures.

I would have KDB in a WC team, front line looks a little light too.

Defence looks really really dodgy IMO, can do better Moin.

          Three things I would change:
          1. Mahrez in for Coutinho. That gives you a bit extra for your front line.
          2. KDB over Haz is also an option.
          3. Sort the defence

2 could even be Payet to give you even more funds up front.

            Or a 352?

I like it for the most part. Coutinho HAS to be Payet instead though and surely there's a better pick than O'Shea. I'm assuming Nyom and Souare rotate quite well?
