Romelu Lukaku bags a brace and assist as Everton come from behind to clinch victory at the Hawthorns. Saido Berahino and Craig Dawson both find the net for West Brom, whilst James Morrison continues to impress in the budget midfield bracket.

Lukaku Sparks Toffees Fightback

Everton staged a stunning comeback at The Hawthorns, recovering from a two-goal deficit to emerge as 3-2 victors over West Bromwich Albion. Romelu Lukaku was the visitors’ hero on the night, scoring twice and setting up Arouna Kone for the equaliser. The Belgian frontman ended a four-match run of blanks to take his tally to four goals and two assists for the season, having notched a double against Southampton in Gameweek 2. Priced at 8.2, Lukaku – who sits just one point off the top of the forward standings thanks to his 16-point haul – suffers from an unforgiving run of fixtures (LIV, MUN, ars) over the next three which may deter investors.

Kone only entered the fray as a second-half substitute, with Gerard Deulofeu preferred at the right-wing berth. In his first start of the season, the former Barcelona recruit claimed a pair of assists, while only three midfielders chalked up more key passes (four) this Gameweek. As ever, the risk of rotation on the Toffees’ flanks limits the appeal of their attacking contingent beyond Lukaku and Ross Barkley, though at 6.2, Deulofeu would force his way onto many a radar if he can retain a role in Roberto Martinez’ first XI.

Everton are unbeaten across their quartet of road ties, having posted clean sheets in their previous three away clashes. Upcoming trips to Arsenal and West Ham put that record under threat, though. Nonetheless, Manchester City are the only team to best Roberto Martinez’s troops this campaign, which bodes well for their Fantasy prospects from Gameweek 11 (SUN, whu, AVL, bou, CRY, nor, LEI, new, STO).

Berahino in the Goals Again

Saido Berahino netted his second strike in as many starts as the Baggies relinquished a two-goal advantage. The 6.2-priced forward serves as an intriguing differential for those Fantasy managers who are scouring the market for a Callum Wilson replacement, with the West Midlanders enjoying an excellent run of fixtures (cry, SUN, nor, LEI) over the next month.

Craig Dawson’s 2% ownership were delighted to witness their man head home his first goal of the campaign from a corner. The Rochdale-born defender has been a mainstay in West Brom’s rearguard this season, rendering him the safest route into a defence that’s kept more clean sheets (14) than any Premier League side this calendar year. There are concerns at the back for Tony Pulis, considering that Jonas Olsson – the stand-in for Gareth McAuley (calf injury) – lasted just 28 minutes after sustaining a groin problem. McAuley’s absence was clearly a big loss for the Baggies, given they had chalked up four shut-outs in the previous five.

Chris Brunt and James Morrison earned assists for their efforts, with the latter boosting his output (two goals and assists) beyond last season’s haul (two goals and one assist). Only eight midfielders have amassed more shots on target than Morrison (seven), while his 11 key passes are not to be sniffed at. Furthermore, Wes Hoolahan (36) is the only counterpart around his price point (4.9) to tally more points (30) through the first seven Gameweeks, underlining his potential as a budget fifth midfielder.

Please tell me what to do!

    1xFT, 2.5itb

    McCarthy (Butland)
Dawson - Kolorov - Williams (Gomez, Richards)
Payet - Mahrez - Sanchez - Coutinho (Westwood)
    Aguero (c) - Martial - Gomis

    Gomez/Aguero/Gomis all dropping in price.

    A) Gomez > 4.5 pick
    B) Gomez > Azpi
    C) Gomis > Somebody (Just due to price concerns, I'm actually happy to keep Gomis, after taking out Lukaku instead of him last week last week for Martial I need him to come good!)
    D) Save FT
    E) Anything else?

KDB. I think he is the pick of that City midfield - because he's willing to take shots.

Silva is shot-shy, Navas is useless, Yaya also likes a shot though but KDB edges it for overall threat combined.

After City we've got a nice run of fixtures IF we can start playing like we did against Chelsea. Perez has the ability and he showed the other day he should be in the first team but for some reason we keep on playing Cisse so I'm not sure he's 100% nailed. He could be worth a punt though.

            • 11 Years
            10 years, 2 months ago

So for now it's Janmaat as a priority and Ayoze as a punt? What about Wijnaldum?

              • 12 Years

I have Wijnaldum in my team I was gonna take him out this week then he's scored and put the doubt in my mind but yeah he looks good and I think he's on pens. Janmatt will get the attacking returns but I wouldn't rely on us keeping too many CS. Personally I think I'm going to get Mitrovic in after the city game but that might be too punty for most people.

My team value seems likely to take a bit of a battering this week - Wilson, Gomis, Surman and Ayew have already dropped and could drop again (along with the likes of Ruddy and possibly Augero).

it was an enabler, and in fact a drunken transfer, so fine it wasn't the best move to make, especially as Benteke got injured afterwards.

Why would you take a hit for Dawson to Evans? Dawson attacking stats have been much better and they play in the same defense...

I had the exact money to do Dawson & Ayew to Evans & Payet and I did it. I was all set on Evans the week before due to his potential for bonus, but in the end went for Dawson, then immediately regretted it

Current team: G2G? (I've already used my FT)

    Butland (Ruddy)
Kolarov | Dier | Huth (Ward, Targett)
    Hazard(vc) | Yaya | Mahrez | Payet (Morrison)
    Aguero(c) | Martial | Ighalo

    .
*Morrison first sub if Yaya dont make it

I reckon this is an unusual wildcard team but would be interested to know what you think:

    Myhill, Gomes,
    Francis, dawson, davies, moreno, souare,
Sanchez, payet, de bruyne, mahrez, cabaye
    Sturridge, aguero, Jerome,
    0.1 itb
Pretty much playing 352, looking ahead to those crystal palace and west brom fixtures.
    No Chelsea, gulp.

I like it on the whole but I do feel you could do better than Cabaye as the 5th mid. IMO by having Sturridge and Aguero it is really hindering your 3rd choice forward and 5th choice forward. Someone a little cheaper might really improve this. Even Harry Kane would give you a larger budget than Sturridge.

Good advice. Might have got a little excited by sturridge returning to the fold, but maybe kane would make the squad more sensible, especially if playing 352. Spurs fixtures are poor, though. Lukaku is another option, i know he has three bad fixtures but they become excellent in gw11. Would allow me ighalo and depay instead of cabaye and jerome. Now THAT sounds exciting

Lukaku has done really well this season in good and bad fixtures. I think he seems like a really good option this year. I am on my WC as well and i am sat on Vardy - Igalho and Aguero up front, with most of my cash spent on the midfield.

I think I've finally cracked it and picked a good player!
    I've gone from;
    Ivo - 1 point in 1 week
    To Jenkinson -3 in 3-weeks
    To Shaw 0 and out
    To Dawson - 13 points in 2-weeks
Now I just have to fix the other 10 players!

Good morning folks, 28p this week and considering WC.

    Cedric, Williams, kolarov (Huth, coates)
    Hazard, Sterling, mahrez, payet (fletcher)
    Aguero vardy gomis.

What do you think? Used ft on Wilson -> Vardy
