We turn our attentions to FantasyBet this Friday lunchtime, as I continue my quest to turn £100 pot into profit.

For those unfamiliar, the initial player prices and scoring system in FantasyBet are very similar to Fantasy Premier League, making it an accessible weekly and daily format for those who pay a lot of attention to the official game.

There are twelve guaranteed pots this weekend in FantasyBet, including the two regular freerolls – the £100 weekly game and the £50 flash contest. There’s no Monday night football this week, meaning three matches on Sunday, all covered by a £1.10 entry game that has a £75 pot and also a ‘Super Sunday’ contest for a £11 fee that has a £100 pot. Manchester United travel to the Emirates on Sunday in the standout fixture of the weekend and FantasyBet have created a £100 guaranteed game for that clash, with a £11 stake required.

The standard Saturday double-up features with a £75 pot for £3.30 entry. For games covering all ten fixtures there’s the ‘no selection budget’ contest for £5.50 also with £75 on offer and for the high-rollers, a £500 pot for a £22 stake. There’s also the weekly £1000 game for £5.50 that misses out the early kick-off between Crystal Palace and West Brom, allowing teams to be picked up until the 3pm kick-offs.

My Weekend Team
I’m going to run through the team I’m entering in the £100 free-roll, with over 100 entries and counting I tend to go with more differentials than usual in the free games, while also retaining a core of players that most teams will likely have.

For example, in defence I’m tripling up on Chelsea defensive assets, Asmir Begovic (5m), Kurt Zouma (5.5m) and Cesar Azpilicueta (6m) find a place despite their woeful form. Not many are likely to favour Jose Mourinho’s backline after recent outings but I feel this could pay off, considering Southampton failed to score in their last two away trips. I’ve then gone for the full quota of City players, Sergio Aguero (13m) and Aleksandar Kolarov (5.5) being joined by Raheem Sterling (9m) as another differential.

The midfield is completed by obvious picks Dimitri Payet (7.5m) and Riyad Mahrez (5.5m) and, as I highlighted in the Weekly Shop article, Crystal Palace’s Yannick Bolasie (6.5m) faces injury-hit West Brom at home. I also considered the merits of Rudy Gestede and Jamie Vardy in that midweek round-up, so the Villa and Leicester strikers slot in alongside Aguero, which leaves a healthy 24.5m for my bench players.

The Bottom Line

Last week, I entered the Sunday and Monday bargain games and also the single fixture Monday night match. Backing clean sheets for both sides in the last fixture of the Gameweek seemed sensible based on their recent defensive form but completely backfired and Everton’s 3-2 victory over West Brom meant no money placings and a remaining pot of £91.11.

This Week’s Stake

Weekly – The team above goes into the £100 free-roll as mentioned and I also play the flash freeroll. I’m also risking £5.50 again to join the £1000 guaranteed game and spend another £1.10 to enter the Scout Picks team.

Daily – I’ve entered the Saturday double up as usual for £3.30 and the Sunday bargain game for £1.10.

Stake – £11
Current balance – £80.11

£100 Guaranteed FFScout Picks League

This week FantasyBet have also provided a £100 pot for the FFScout Picks League. I will enter our Scout Picks as closely as possible, given a 15-man squad is required with the 100m budget and a captain also needs to be selected. Feel free to go up against them this week and pick your own squad on FantasyBet.

    Kolorov, Silva, Aguero..

Any of the 1st two worth considering for the Captaincy?
Very unlikely that Newcastle score in fairness..

Targett is dead wood now right? Probably him first since you have the luxury?

Or unless you're set on a 352/343 rotation sell Ayew?

    Its just been brought to my attention just how overrated Ozil actually is. Look at these stats between Mata (Man Utd) and Ozil (Arsenal) in the PL;

    Mata - 48 (7) apps 18 goals 11 assists
    Ozil - 52 (2) apps 9 goals 17 assists

And Mata plays on the wing. Wow.

I could set up 10 goals a season in that Arsenal team playing in the hole

I know Friday afternoon isn't the ideal time for this...but here's my wildcard team. Any thoughts?Undecided on Sakho vs Berahino and a bit iffy on my defence.

    Begovic - Henessey

    Kolarov - Bellerin - Evans - Cedric - Nyom

    Sanchez - Mata - Payet - Mahrez - Westwood

    Aguero - Lukaku - Sakho

If you went for Myhill ahead of Begovic could Hennessey become a regular starter (Butland/Gomes). This would delay the need for a keeper transfer.

    Butland

    Francis Darmian Kolarov

    Mahrez Pedro Sanchez Payet

    Kun(C) Martial Igloo

Schmeicel Williams Gomez Mason 0.3 itb, Pedro> Mata or a cheeky Pedro> Tadic. Or just step away!

Have to play AOA I think. Front 8 is Sanchez, KDB, Coutinho, Ayew, Mahrez, Agüero, Vardy, Diouf.

Someone help me bench two out of Jenkinson (SUN A), Richards (STO H) and Evans (CRY A). I'm pretty sure I get it wrong...

Because the question shows absolutely no thought process at all. If someone offers a few suggestions or seems as though they're vaguely sentient, i'll offer something.

When it's that vague, it annoys me.

Oh come on dude, it wasn't that bad. I quite clearly asked 'who would you replace Kompany with this week?' Sure, the last sentence might have seemed a little vague, but all I was really asking was 'who do you fancy in the next couple of weeks?' A far cry from how you're taking it - chill out a little.

After thinking forever about my Wilson replacement, I think I might just let it rest this weekend and reassess based on performances, playing Westwood. I can soak up one more drop from him without losing out anyway.

My transfers would then be Yaya -> KDB/Silva and Pedro -> Payet (-4).

How does this sound? (I am basing this on Pedro not starting, btw)

        Like 1.1.

I can't afford KDB/Silva Without a hit, and I sort of want triple City now.

And I'm not sure yet who the right Wilson replacement is + Pedro may not even play. Plus is probably a dud anyway

it's tough as I think you're right to ditch both but with 1.1 you could get Sakho or Vardy, or even Ayoze or Ighalo

I want yaya to silva as well, but the KDB option is also enticing.

Anybody putting the armband on KDB over Kun? I'm v tempted. Another Kun blank would be depressing.

If Kun blanks again this weekend, he has gw9 vs bournemouth to make it up or he is out of my team. He's let me down 4 weeks in a row.

I think I'm done with Kun captaincy. It's between KDB or Payet for me. Aguero doesn't look like he'll explode, unlike Sanchez last week.

KDB is looking good and Kun really is not right now. Payet tempting too

Lads, just to clear something up, is the normal January wildcard available until the end of the season this year? Or simply just January?

You have two WCs this season.
One to be used first half of the season, the other to be used second half of the season

It's available for January and until the end of the season. So yes, you could look at it as an "extended" January wildcard.

If you have a decent player coming in that's a good idea. As long as you don't mind losing value 🙂

I had Cedric(A) Chelsea and Darren Fletcher 😆

      I am on this.

Although I have already had 1 drop. bought for 8.6, my SV @ 8.7 and he's on 8.9 so I can afford one more drop.

I'll reassess next week. (not ruling out a WC though)

I think my transfer dilemma basically comes down to this:

    a) Mane and Ighalo (usually sub in 3-5-2)
    b) Pelle and Sako/Sinclair (usually sub in 3-4-3)

Any preferences? I'm leaning towards A but I'm unsure.

I think that is pretty much what most WC's come down to. I would lean towards A as well but not much to choose.

My other consideration is whether to go Tadic/Mane. I prefer the latter but Tadic has pens in his locker and has outscored Mane so far.

I like Mane. But yes Tadic seems he may be the better option as you say.
