Sergio Aguero’s Fantasy owners were left sweating this afternoon after a groin injury forced the Argentine out of the Ewood Park thrashing of Blackburn Rovers.

City’s number one forward has, of course, been in sensational form in his debut season, with eight goals seeing him backed by 43.6% of Fantasy managers so far.

Speaking after the 4-0 victory, City coach David Platt had this to say:

“It’s too early at the moment. It’s a groin injury and the early indications are that it is not as bad as we first thought.

“Having said that, if we had a game in the week or next week, he wouldn’t play. With the international break, who knows? It depends how quickly he heals up. It’s probably touch and go for Aston Villa, but we will look at it in the next 48 hours.

“I would think at least two weeks, but I’m no medic.”

With Aguero currently sitting at 11.5 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), his owners will be desperate for a quick prognosis from the club. Positive news would surely prevent a drop in price, as many Fantasy managers get twitchy with transfers and possibly wildcards over the extended break.

Aguero’s absence, however, would certainly pave the way for Edin Dzeko and Mario Balotelli to pair up against Villa in the Etihad Stadium showdown- priced at 8.6 and 8.5 respectively, the duo would fancy their chances of ending Villa’s unbeaten start to the season- Roberto Mancini’s side have averaged over three goals per game so far and would expect to see off Villa in a similar vein.

With a trip to Old Trafford following on in gameweek nine, Mancini will surely take no chances with his star forward’s fitness, though, particularly with the Carlos Tevez saga reducing his up front options – confirmation one way or the other will be key to plenty Fantasy plans, then…

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Wild cards are so hard to keep , the urge for a fix is just too strong for most.

Im fighting the urge , and will wait for a juicy double gameweek, dont see much to be gained using it this weeks , not many bandwagons to jump on

He's a goalkeeper, in his early twenties. Hardly would have needed a 'rest'.

Presumably just dropped for either being hopeless, or his criminal antics - which everyone seems to find hilarious for some Reeson.

I happened to watch a bit of Scotland v Wales in the Victory Shield the other night (which is the under 16 home nations) and it really hit home what is wrong with junior football in the country

Tiny, young boys playing on a full sized pitch, hacking and hoofing the ball at every opportunity. Very little quality

Despite being fairly skillful in my school days, I remember being dropped from my local team because I was a late developer and struggled to hold my own in the air or hit the ball a fair distance

The focus is all wrong at that age and that is why small, jinky talented players like Bannan are the exception nowadays (for Scotland at least)

Five shots off target. Will kill his PPI.

Best last week had four shots on target, and also got an assist in a win. His PPI was 3, and obviously didn't get any BPs.

For all the CL fantasy participants, there were a couple of fine goals in the Bundesliga today from players who have struggled so far in the Champions League. First, Bayer Leverkusen's Eren Derdiyok sets up his own overhead kick in their 3-1 victory against VfL Wolfsburg:

    http://www.20min.ch/videotv/?vid=220732&cid=44

Then, after struggling woefully with the cow's posterior - banjo interface against Marseille in midweek, Mario Götze teaches Wayne Rooney how to lob an advancing keeper in Borussia Dortmund's 4-0 victory over FC Augsburg:

Keep Jarvis. From what I saw on MOTD, he could have easily score very well today. A couple of shots were well cleared by the two Taylors, and he had an assist wrongly chalked off at the end. Plus fixtures are on his side, and he has proven FPL pedigree.

I'm keeping him, although I do have other priorities to get rid of....

Brunt -> Tiote and De Laet -> Kompany worth a hit? Brunt got an alrgight fixture next week, better then Tiote, and I am not a huge fan for taking hits for defenders or taking hits when one of the transfers is mainly to get founds for the other transfer. BUT my defence is not looking good for the next round; Bosingwa, Enrique, Brown, De Laet and Ward. Want to get rid of atleast two of them.

    Thanks

definitely, I brought Tiote in with my WC this wwk (unfortunately i left him on the bench) but hes a fine fantasy squad player at that price and if he chips in with the odd assist all well and good. De Laet will not regain his place by the look of it for a while and Brunt has been far too frustrating this season

I wouldn't be surprised if Liverpool and Chelsea get clean sheets next week. I'd keep Brunt, he's pretty consistent. Maybe get a different Norwich defender for de laet

Being the geek I am I'm already looking ahead to next week and I have 2 freebies but not the greatest team on paper, got a few with poor fixtures and then 4 Norwich/Swansea players, who will obviously be playing eachother. Don't really know where to start, it's a tricky one!

    Wildccard played.

    Deadwod gone.

Prices kind of dictated the move really but I feel better for having done it. Can save transfers for DGW's to come but balance was needed in my team and the wildcard will allow me to achieve that.

Genuinely wasn't happy with a lot of things and price rises were beginning to make me think that a later WC would be pointless in terms of getting in the players I wanted.

Didn't really want to take 8 point hit myself. Felt that was what your wildcard is for really, to stop you taking hits like that.

Will see if I can make some quick money, which I doubt will happen, ad give myself 2 weeks to get best team in.

Seeing Moses gone and Silva back in my team just makes me feel a whole lot better about life in general.

The next int. break after GW11 looks the best bet for WC IMO. Huge fixture swings for the the top teams. But you've done it now nomar...so best of luck!

Ya, like I said, price rises have killed me already and really wasn't prepared to wait another month and see if I could still afford what I wanted.

Big hitters in now serve you well for the future.

8pts is pretty big I know Nomar, but as RCA says GW11 or even DGWs later in the year could well more than make up for it. Just one of those gambles we make judgement calls on.

Last year I was able to use 2nd WC on juicy DGW.

Took my only points hit of the season last week and trying not to take any more if i can help it.

Shall just have to make sure I have 2 frees saved for GW11 break.

I have faith in him and, other than Ramsey, there really isn't anyone else out there in that £6-6.5m price bracket that I really want.

                Hoping to end up with something like;

                Al-Habsi, Vorm
                Warnock, Barnett, Bosingwa, Simpson, Woodgate
                Silva, Taarabt, Ramsey, Mata, Tiote

actually the 6 - 6.5 bracket is littered with quality value

                  Walters, Petrov, Larsson, for example

Gaz...I agree that there's quality there...but will the 6.0'ish mids provide consistents results/points? At the moment, No.

The current play looks to be 2 big strikers and then someone in the 5-7 range...like Best, Ba, Agbon, etc. This frees up money to go for 3 big point scoring mids in the 9 plus range.

Ah, this is another matter of course. To which Im inclined to agree.

                    Nani, Silva, Arteta
                    Rooney, Aguero, Adebayor

                    for me at the moment.

All Blacks have no real replacement for Carter, retarded they don't pick foreign based players as Nick Evans and Luke McAllister would be decent replacements.

We will bat Italy, I am more worried about Wales in quarters than either England or France in semis. I backed Ireland each way earlier to win it, with Carter out we have even better chance!

The Aussies were saying that Ireland were time wasting during their game, it's a pile of horse shit to try and cover the fact that they lost and were played off the pitch. It was just the aussies being sore losers imo
