Injuries

Sergio Aguero’s Fantasy owners were left sweating this afternoon after a groin injury forced the Argentine out of the Ewood Park thrashing of Blackburn Rovers.

City’s number one forward has, of course, been in sensational form in his debut season, with eight goals seeing him backed by 43.6% of Fantasy managers so far.

Speaking after the 4-0 victory, City coach David Platt had this to say:

“It’s too early at the moment. It’s a groin injury and the early indications are that it is not as bad as we first thought.

“Having said that, if we had a game in the week or next week, he wouldn’t play. With the international break, who knows? It depends how quickly he heals up. It’s probably touch and go for Aston Villa, but we will look at it in the next 48 hours.

“I would think at least two weeks, but I’m no medic.”

With Aguero currently sitting at 11.5 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), his owners will be desperate for a quick prognosis from the club. Positive news would surely prevent a drop in price, as many Fantasy managers get twitchy with transfers and possibly wildcards over the extended break.

Aguero’s absence, however, would certainly pave the way for Edin Dzeko and Mario Balotelli to pair up against Villa in the Etihad Stadium showdown- priced at 8.6 and 8.5 respectively, the duo would fancy their chances of ending Villa’s unbeaten start to the season- Roberto Mancini’s side have averaged over three goals per game so far and would expect to see off Villa in a similar vein.

With a trip to Old Trafford following on in gameweek nine, Mancini will surely take no chances with his star forward’s fitness, though, particularly with the Carlos Tevez saga reducing his up front options – confirmation one way or the other will be key to plenty Fantasy plans, then…

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    Gahh..repost!
I need thoughts on my team for gw8 as I won't be in town..

    Vorm(Given)
Kompany Bosingwa Ward (Simpson, De Laet)
    Silva Nani Mata Ramsey (Ferguson)
    Adebayor Agbonlahor Rooney

Don't care about De Laet and Ferguson..they're just deadwood.
I planned Jarvis-->Ramsey...leaves me with 0.7 in bank
    Your thoughts?

Is it worth coping a 4 point hit for this:

    Jarvis to Petrov
    Senderos to Bosingwa

If I don't get rid of Bosingwa for a decent defender, I'll have to play W.Brown vs Arsneal away, is it worth it?

I think they're good moves, but for 4 points? I'm not convinced. Arsenal haven't convinced me they'll be handing out regular thumpings. Perhaps sit tight or grab Gabbi or Naylor whilst they're uber cheap.

Gabbi should be in with a great chance if he's fit v B'burn.

4 point hits are justified at the best of times, let alone for a defender.

Not feeling VDV this season. Injury prone, inconsistent and now a threat of rotation.

Modric and Bale are also threatening to translate their excellent real life performances into FPL points.

I'd downgrade Mata and get yourself Ade up front.

That's a seriously strong front 7 there. No Rooney/RVP, but balanced out by Ade and Suarez.

I think you could do with 2/3 of Enrique K Bos and to upgrade Ferg, but apart from that it looks good.

Personally, I would downgrade Mata to Dyer. Ferg to Tiote. Then use the change for your defence.

Appalling GW so far, both soul destroying and demoralising. 21 (17 because of first season hit). Anyway, I refuse to press the panic button and chase last weeks points. I am actually going to save the transfer. Even if Aguero is fit or not...

This is how I currently line-up in 2 painful weeks.

    Vorm
    Bos K Gabbi
    Dyer Walters(vc) Nani Young
    Ag Roo Dzeko(c)

    Schwarz Moses Naylor Simpson

I appreciate that I've overloaded on Utd coverage with 3 tricky fixtures, but I was banking on a points fest v Nor. However, I am thinking of sitting tight with the Utd trio as GW11+ the points should start rolling in again. Defence I feel is nicely settled, but MF and forward line could perhaps do with some slight alteration. Such a void of options at the top clubs I feel. Only players I feel I'm missing out on are Ade, Silva, RVP and Suarez.

Best, Ba and Agbon feel as though they're having their moment in the sun and any GW now, the points could dry up.

Cheers. 6 Manc goals and only 1 assist to show for it!

I'm thinking of getting in Silva. Just so silky and consistent. However, I need to get rid of Dzeko first due to quota rules (I'm presuming Ag will be fit). Points over money so I'll leave the transfer this week and hope the market does not fluctuate as wildly as it has been.

You may well be on to something with a Ruddy move to facilitate getting in Suarez. Food for thought.

Will watch Ramsey very carefully today too.

I've got both as I think they'll both justify they're value over similarly priced options as the season progresses. It's just whether I am brave enough to weather the next 3 GWs and go without Silva.

However, Nani is more captain material and probably the better option.
