[sbu_large_image] Suspensions

The Suspension Tightrope claimed no new victims over the last couple of days, but there are now 13 players finely balanced at the four-yellow mark with just one match remaining in Gameweek 9.

Prior to the weekend’s action getting underway, there were ten men on the verge of a one-match suspension: Ciaran Clark, Jeffrey Schlupp, Fernandinho, Eliaquim Mangala, Matteo Darmian, Jack Colback, Oriol Romeu, Billy Jones, Dele Alli and Mark Noble were all precariously perched.

James Milner joined that cast with a late challenge on Danny Rose and rode his luck for the remainder of Liverpool’s encounter against Spurs, escaping without a red despite making a number of clumsy tackles. Meanwhile, Erik Lamela proved similarly tenacious for the home team and subsequently received his fourth caution of the campaign, placing him at risk of missing the North London derby in Gameweek 12. Spurs and Man City are the only two teams with one than one player on this week’s Tightrope, with both sides affording us two apiece.

Finally, Claudio Yacob – a midfield lynchpin for a West Bromwich Albion outfit that ranks joint-top for clean sheets (five) this term – entered the referee’s notebook for the third time in four outings, earning him caution number four for the campaign.

In terms of new suspensions, Dwight Gayle received his marching orders for two soft yellows during Crystal Palace’s 3-1 home defeat to West Ham United yesterday. The Eagles frontman was dismissed with the score level at one apiece late in the first-half and, post-match, manager Alan Pardew reckoned the decision was a little unjust:

“Our striker gets booked for a bad challenge, quite rightly. The second challenge, the referee knows he’s booked, he’s missed it by a centimetre probably and he sends him off. I thought a man of his experience perhaps should have looked at that situation and given him his final warning. I’m not excusing him from complete blame. The second challenge, he shouldn’t make. He’ll have to learn from that. Having said that, I still think it was very harsh to send him off.”

The 5.1-priced Gayle – who has started the last three outings up top – now sits out the Eagles’ trip to Leicester City next Gameweek, with Pardew likely to turn to Fraizer Campbell or Patrick Bamford if Connor Wickham fails to recover from injury in time. Given that he’s failed to net in five league appearances, Gayle may find it difficult to make an immediate return to the first XI in Gameweek 11.

Turning our attention towards players that have served their time, Eric Dier and Sebastian Coates – who toppled off the Tightrope last Gameweek – are available for selection next time out. The former will be hoping to reclaim his starting role in central midfield for the trip to Bournemouth, though Mousa Dembele staked a claim for another start with a man-of-the-match performance against Liverpool yesterday. Coates, meanwhile, will have to impress new manager Sam Allardyce to displace either Younes Kaboul or John O’Shea in central defence.

Jeremain Lens also makes a welcome return for the Black Cats, having fulfilled his duties and sat out their 1-0 loss at The Hawthorns. The Dutch midfielder – who has played a part in five of Sunderland’s eight league goals this season – could have a key part to play in the Wear-Tyne derby next Sunday as Big Sam welcomes his former club to the Stadium of Light.

I would appreciate some advice guys.

Whilst half cut last night I did Ayew > De Bruyne with my free. In hindsight I might have been better downgrading Hazard. I just don't know what to do now. Just hope he starts and re-evaluate next week? nothing now in bank. Plan on upgrading Watmore to Ayoze or Vardy in future. Ozil on my mind too.

    Schmeichel, McCarthy
    Sagna, Zouma, Francis, Martin, Bellerin
Mahrez, De Bruyne, Sanchez, Payet, Hazard
    Pelle, Martial, Watmore

Are you spending the Aguero cash or holding for a straight swap?
    I got 6.1ITB with Cabaye/Mane/Mahrez/Sachez/Payet.
I got no pressing matter in Attack or Defense.I play 3-4-3 and I want a 2nd Asenal mid,but can't figure out who to get and who to drop. Am I loosing it for thinking of dropping Payet for Wally/Ramsey?
Are assists or goal more valuable for BPS for mids? (this may sway me towards Ozil)

Looks like SWA, SOU, MCI and TOT have better short term CS chances. Looking to dump Kolarov and use following weeks to swap others

    TOT: Toby or Dier
MCI: Zabeleta? Anyone else nailed on?
SOU: Van Dijk or Fonte (or really Bertrand?)
    SWA: Williams, Naughton or Taylor

    currently
    Cech / Myhill
    Kolarov / Bellerin / Dawson / Nyom / Francis

Not sure. Don't think he'll been particularly keen on either as they don't press well. Benteke especially

            • 11 Years

he wont need his striker to press as much as rest of the team though, and I just heard he was talking about sturridge and considered how injury prone he is, that he can't depend on him as his main man.

Origi is not ready yet but shows promise so think Tekkers will be the man to fill the spot for now, unless we buy in January but I seriously doubt it.

            1. Davido989
              • 15 Years

His teams press from the front, striker included. But maybe not as much as the 3 behind

I think he will want a new one next summer as his #1

              1. djenzio
                • 11 Years
                10 years, 3 months ago

I know he wants more pressing from players, but as you say not as much as the 3 behind and if he has concerns over Sturridge and even if Sturridge himself is being cautious to avoid injury he wont want to press as much. I think Tekkers would be more willing to adapt and if anyone can get him to press more Klopp can.

I think Tekkers has showed other aspects to his game we didnt see at Villa this season, and with more attention from his manager and better training Tekkers could be moulded to suit Klopp

I do agree he will look elsewhere in the summer but that's a long way away.

So are people actually bringing in Wjnaldum?

Not as if his 4 goals today came from nowhere. He has been reasonably consistent this season for such a poor team

Why not? Even if you say he just deserved 1 goal or 2 today, he's got good form, great fixtures and in a decent-ish looking team

with his stats from holland and his potential/current talent, i have just been waiting for his form too show or see if he fits the BPL.
He has shown to the most dangerous player for a rather poor newcastle and finally in this game they showed what they are maid off, except for poor defensing, no krul and vs. norwich at home..
I am going to take a gamble with wijnaldum, like with ighalo, diouf, when they were scoring.
Read the stats and watch highlights.
It gives me a clearer pic who too pick for next gws

I would definitely bring him in, best fixs for N'castle next gw so why not go for it before others.

If Ayew doesnt look good tomorrow I may well get Wjnaldum, really great form over the last 3 games and crazy fixtures:

sun (worst defence in the league and its the tyneside derby)

Right decided WCing is a must......always seen allot of talk around WC transfers not affecting price changes so much and to not actually confirm WC until later in the week.

Is there any real benefit to this as I know I would have much greater peace of mind knowing the WC is in play and I don't have to remember later and risk getting hit especially seeing as I am leaving for a golf trip on Friday!
