In our new series of “Monitor” Members articles, we turn our attentions to Matthew Etherington. The Stoke winger has been a mid-price Fantasy favourite for the past two seasons now but so far he’s yet to make any sort of impact, with just one assist to his name after six appearances.

Analysing both the OPTA and our own ICT stats, we dig deep in an attempt to ascertain just how and why he’s failed to produce the Fantasy returns so typical of those last couple of campaigns…

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Is it worth playing Moses (home to Bolton)?
He impressed in pre-season but has done absolutely naff all in the first 7 games.

Its his best chance of goals. Playing upfront against a slack defence.

Moses could do some good work (and it's about time). but like Scout says, it's another chance for Petrov to put in another shift.

Lads what transfer to do and why?

    - Rooney to RVP and keep Dzeko this week? Bring probably Sturridge next week.
    - Dzeko to RVP and have ultimate strike force Rooney, RVP, Suarez and really unbalanced team.
    - Ignore and leave the strike force as it is and improve the defense bring Schawcross for Briggs as a long term solution which means I won’t have to double on New against Tot

    Thanks in advance and cheers,

P.S. Already have Walcott and Ramsey in mid and I could captain Silva this GW why not.

Keep Dzeko for this week at least, you have plenty of Arsenal if they do explode. I'd be tempted by ShawX or Woodgate if you wanted to save the pennies.

For the short to medium term i think he'd be a good replacement for Brown, as Sunderland don't have the best of fixtures. Boyata does seem to have a goal threat too

Even if you have three big-hitters up front, and need a cheap 5.defender to use the cash on your midfield?! Or could you name a better defender at 4.0?! Already have Vorm, so don't need more Swansea...

Hmm, two players who are yet to register a cleansheet. I suppose it has to be Tierney as they're at home but I would seriously consider getting rid of both.

McAuley looks good for this weekend but I wouldn't play him in the following 3.

He also scored an own goal against Italy t'other day. 😉

Wouldn't be surprised. Gerrard has a great chance to get in that England team for 2012. One of the best midfield players ever in PL.

Lamps should be top midfield scorer depending on VDV fitness.

I just worried about their prices, especially with guys like RVP, Rooney and Aguero eating up funds.

Bah Damn you Adebayor. Now debating what to do with my strikeforce can just do Ade to Suarez as a freebie however I'd ideally like to have
    RVP Suarez Adebayor
but I could more easily get
    RVP Sturridge Suarez

Always cautious when hammys flare up, often recurrent. Perhaps I should just accept that I've got good points and a good price rise from Ade and get out now.

Considering ade is a doubt should I:

    a) keep him, do jarvis -> ramsey and have moses as my first sub in case ade doesn't play

    b) sell ade and jarvis -> sturridge and bale

    c) sell ade and jarvis -> sturridge and ramsey, allowing me to do moses -> sinclair or wes brown -> 6.7 def next week

    Entire team:

    Vorm Given

Kompany Enrique Woodgate ( simpson brown)

    Jarvis Nani Silva Petrov (Moses)

    Adebayor Rooney Suarez

    RVP, Rooney & Sturridge

    What about everyone else?

      RVP, Rooney & Suarez.

Not ideal having two strikers in the same early kick-off, but I expect both teams to score and neither player are shy in that respect.

Just going to mention something similar, Demi 😉

I'm wondering how many with the Adebayor/Roonpig/Aguero combo are changing up to Sturridge and RVP?

If Aguero and Adebayor are both out, this is my preferred option. Just been reading that Adebayor won't be risked if the hamstring tear might deteriate. Reading between the lines, I think he is unlikely to be risked.

Aguero - we're all still in the dark about this one. I've got a late Saturday night at the rugby so probably won't be able to change my team.

I don't think RVP and Sturridge are a bad choice - both likely to score big and near the top of the Watchlist.

Agree Jafs. It really looks bleak for both Aguero's and Adebayor's chances of starting this week. Strikers are too precious, as they bring in the most points so i cant afford to not to sell 1 or 2 of them this week, regardless of how much money is locked in them. Also with Strikers i don't ever think long term. I play the next 1/2 fixtures so RVP will quickly become Suarez in gw 9 and then i will look to gradually bring Aguero back in for Sturridge after Chelsea play QPR

          Question marks with Sturridge:

He's averaging 8.5ppg - will the new wide position affect his output?
          Will Torres returning affect anything?
Starting time - how much is he likely to be given - he doesn't appear to be a 90 minute man?

On saying all that though, he obviously has the potential to rack up the points, despite limited gametime. 😕
