In our new series of “Monitor” Members articles, we turn our attentions to Matthew Etherington. The Stoke winger has been a mid-price Fantasy favourite for the past two seasons now but so far he’s yet to make any sort of impact, with just one assist to his name after six appearances.

Analysing both the OPTA and our own ICT stats, we dig deep in an attempt to ascertain just how and why he’s failed to produce the Fantasy returns so typical of those last couple of campaigns…

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Not sure what to do with this team:

    Hart Vorm
    Assou Berra Bos Colocinni Sawcross
    Nani Silva Murphy Tchyoi Dyer
    Suarez Sturridge Hernandez

Was goona do Ramsey and Ade in for Tchyoi and Hernandez but Ade being possibly ionjured makes that not look so great now.

I know having no Rooney or Augerro isn't the greatest but for now it might be ok and results for the last 2 weeks have been pretty good.

Need to ship Tchyoi so bad though..

Shame you can't make the Adebayor transfer, I'd agree with holding off for now.

I'd just bench Tchoyi for now, unless you have 2 frees? In which case I'd use that one for now on Tchoyi>Bannan, who has 3 nice games after this week.

That frontline could be the dream team front line this week....Hernandez is a dark horse around this part of the internets

I'm not sure on Hernandez is he likely to start? I know he is a big time player but Welbeck has been scoring well.

Just the one transfer free, your probably right two free's would give more room to move things around next week making 2 or 3 changes.

I can't believe i still have Tchyoi its been one of them things where others transfers always had to be made.

you can get away with benching Tchoyi this week.

I think Chico will start this weekend, but if he doesn't score early he might be taken off

    Hi all,

I am in a similar position to most really, I have both Aguero and Adebayor to deal with,
I am keen on keeping Aguero so who do you think is the best option?

    Sturridge?

Personally would keep Adebayor over Aguero if you have both. Ade's fixtures are kinder if they both miss one game. Plus Aguero may well drop again.

I'm ditching Adebayor of the 2 and getting Suarez (got £1m in the bank)... I would only want Aguero back in 2 weeks and I think VDV / Bale will cover Adebayor if I can get them in next week

    Hi guys,

So after all this WC malarky, I have settled on this team.

I have chose the rotation of Begovic+Shawcross with Hennessey+Warnock. Didn't fancy doubling up on Wolves defence, but Villa's fixtures seem to match Wolves for a while so it works.

Decided to double up on Arsenal for a little while, would prove hugely beneficial in my mini-league if it works.

The only thing I'm missing I think is Suarez and Kompany, but funds just don't allow, or spaces for that matter.

With all this said here is my GW8 team, what do you think? Yes I'm bored today.

    Begovic
    ShawX Tierney Naylor
    VDV Ramsey Sinclair Silva
    Rooney Sturridge RVP(c)

    Hennessey Petrov Warnock Simpson

I think WCing this week and not having Suarez or a way of getting Suarez in could bite you in the ass considering the three fixtures after this. Would rather leave Rambo as my sole Arsenal cover, put Suarez in for RVP and then upgrade Tierney to Enrique and see what cash you have left over for a rainy day?

I can't get rid of Van Persie, he is my biggest differential and will score well in the coming weeks imo. Also fun fact:No one in my entire mini-league owns him.

      Keepers - perfect rotation
Defenders - ShawX/Warnock rotation, not entirely convinced with 3 4.0's but you gotta make moullah somewhere.
Midfield - Silva and VDV top 2 over the next few IMO, Sinclair, Ramsey good choices, I am probably the only one not convinced with Petrov.
      Forwards - Very good
      I like it.

I agree with Mac about not having Suarez. I would chose him over rooney and upgrade tierney to enrique. I think both suarez & RVP will outscore Rooney considerably in the next 3 after that get Roon back in for Suarez, ie have 2 transfers for GW12. I know itd be hard being a united fan but thats my honest opinion.

It would be INCREDIBLY hard being a United fan...also my problem is that everyone in my mini-league has Rooney(c) week in week out. Sure if Suarez outscores him then it makes me a king, but if it doesn't then the WC becomes completely pointless..

Do you know what I am saying?

I know what you're saying and he's a good "blocker". RVP is a good enough differential. Its a tough choice because i can see more points for Suarez. Rooney will score 1 goal out the next 3 at best imo. I can see your logic for having him. So as you were 🙂

And he was rested before, so really hes being rotated around with Milner and Johnson.

      I'm keeping him.

I'll want him back in 2 GWs time so that's 2 transfers straight away, probably counting as 4, possibly 8 point hits.

I'll start him on the off chance he surprises us and does end up beginning the game vs Villa.

    Vorm (given)

Bos Ward De Laet (Simpson) (Enrique)

    Petrov Nani Dyer Silva (Tiote)

    Rooney Ade Aguero
    ---------------------------------------------------------------
one free transfer and I have enough cash to bring in RVP, (SUN, STO, che), think im shipping Aguero out first.

even though other options look tempting:
Suarez - great fix's after Man Utd
Sturridge - cheap alter but not proven?
Drogba - punt oppurtunity, great fix's

after all, from the way he's been playing he has been getting alot of touches on the ball.

against chelsea, he really should have scored, and besides, torres didnt finish the chances he created.
against norwich too, he could have scored more points, but torres' card forced AVB into a tactical change to bring him off

It's trying to concentrate on fifteen or so teams in five or six different games with different rules, transfer limits etc. It's beginning to wear me down. I made one lot of transfers thinking it was a different league which saw me sitting with all my top scorers sitting on the bench for the week. 🙁 Still I doubt I'll do that again. 😉

    Ramsey Nani Petrov Silva Dyer
    RVP Sturridge Rooney

Reading some of the above comments however I am tempted to drop Rooney for Suarez. This would leave me with a 3.2m to bring in Adam for GW9.

Is that sensible, or should I stick with the Roon?

Im thinking of bringing shawcross into my team in light of the attractive fixtures.

    my current line is

    given vorm

    kompany hutton simpson boswinga enrique.

    silva mata ramsey dyer jarvis

    rooney suarez disanto

    who should i swap out?
or should i not even bring in shawcross?

what about the prospects of bringing in adeabayor?
    and any recommendations on jarvis?
    keep him or sell him?

What do you guys think about this team and formation?

    Voorm (Krul)
    Jones, Shawcross, NTaylor (RTaylor, Brown)
    Petrov, Ramsey, Silva, Nani (Dyer)
    Suarez, RVP(C), Adebayor

Then will sub in RTaylor if Adebayor doesn't play for a 4, 4, 2 formation with RVP as captain

Most in my league are playing the Rooney/Augero double up front

So with Ade seemingly out, I need to replace my benchwarmer Holt with a striker worth £7.5m or less...narrowed it down to Klasnic, Agbon or Sturridge for this week, with Agbon the most likely given future fixtures. Only thing is they play City this weekend...thoughts?

Mancini when asked about Nasri and Dzeko - they have played two games in 4 days, is important they have time to recover. Can we read anything into this ?

h2h opponent has Aguero and probably wont sell him. I have him and a free transfer worth getting rid of him for Balotelli? And getting him back after deadline?

Or maybe drop him for Drogba for 2 weeks?

My other attacking 'threats' are Rooney, Suarez, Mata and Arteta
