634x258 Key Battle

This weekend’s key encounters highlight Nani’s quest to rid himself of the Anfield ghosts following last season’s gory cameo in the 3-1 setback. Elsewhere, Theo Walcott’s free-running will surely give Steve Bruce food for thought, while Neil Warnock will be hoping Adel Taarabt can help QPR drive a bus through the Blackburn back four.

Nani vs Jose Enrique

Two players in strong form for their respective sides will likely face off in a key head to head at Anfield. While all the talk will be of Wayne Rooney going into Saturday’s early kick-off, Nani is the man in form for Alex Ferguson’s side and he, along with City’s David Silva, has emerged as the consistent Fantasy midfield performer.

In Jose Enrique, Kenny Dalglish has a bull of a left-back fully equipped to deal with Nani’s pace and direct running – whether he will be disciplined enough to curb his own attacking instincts to do so is another matter. Nani will go all out to make an impact following the events of last season’s fixture and his battle with the Spaniard is surely set to be a highlight and a key confrontation.

Theo Walcott vs Kieran Richardson

The Arsenal flyer is a potentially tricky customer or any full-back, although consistency from Walcott is always a concern and frustration for Arsene Wenger. On Sunday however, Wenger will once again be looking to Walcott to terrorise his full-back, particularly when that player is likely to be Kieran Richardson.

Although a competent stand-in at left-back, Wenger will surely look to Walcott to get at him and undo a likely rearguard action from Steve Bruce’s team. With Nicklas Bendtner unavailable to Bruce, we’re expecting to see a 4-5-1 – despite talk of Sunderland “getting at” Arsenal from the off. That will likely mean very little space for Arsenal’s midfield, making the width offered by Walcott, Gervinho and perhaps Andrei Arshavin, all the more critical. Our money is on Walcott being a significant figure for the Gunners and a major worry for Bruce.

Adel Taarabt vs Michel Salgado

Neither of these players are certain to take the pitch on Sunday – while Taarabt is embroiled in an off-field dispute following his bus stop capers during the Craven Cottage massacre, Salgado is struggling for fitness and may miss out at Loftus Road.

If the Rovers man is fit and these two do come up in opposition on the flank, there’s every chance that this could be a worrying area for Steve Kean and his Blackburn side. Taarabt has been employed on the left by Neil Warnock in recent matches and he will surely fancy the Moroccan’s trickery to cause all kinds of problems for the ageing Rovers full-back. Salgado is known to like a challenge, while Taarabt is expert at drawing the tackle and will surely be looking to find the penalty box before doing so. Expect teasing, taunting, an early bone-shaker from Salgado, followed by a good few penalty shouts from the Rangers faithful.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

There have only been eight goals scored in the last seven Premier League matches between Arsenal and Sunderland.

Robin van Persie has scored 21 goals in 24 Premier League games in 2011 and three in three home appearances against Sunderland.

Speaking of hot and cold game...?

I don't think there will be many goals in this game this time around either... still RvP is probably the best captain pick this week. Chelski could run over Everton too though...

I have just played my wildcard and switched my team to:

    Szczesny Begovic
Enrique Warnock Woodgate Berra Van Aanholt
    Silva VDV Ramsey Walters Watson
    RVP Agbonlahor Sturridge

1.3m left in bank, so VDV can become Nani or RVP > Rooney in weeks coming

I have tried to get defenders on strong home games on alternate weeks. Seem a good strat?

I captained him twice last yr. Once he scored 2 and got sent off (Actually he was vice captain but my captain didnt play)

The second time he missed an open goal, hit the bar, and got 2 points.

    Hernandez Suarez Sturridge

Was looking at Ade and Ramsey in for Hernandez and Tychoi this week but that looks off now. Would love to ship Tychoi but is it worth it this week?

Not sure whether to sit on it and make 2 or 3 changes newxt gw to shuffle around.

          Aguero won't play.

Enrique over Simpson? Even with Adebayor out? Interesting. I guess Enrique offers more going forward against United's potentially troubled right back spot but Nani and/or Young will be on top of him all game. Toss-up I guess.

I want to keep Sinclair for the season. Best Value for money at that price IMO.

I think I'm going to have to leave it. I might swap Aguero for Balotelli for this week only then bring him straight back in. Think Mata could do well this week.

Is Boyata a guaranteed starter for Bolton. Need a replacement for De Laet and looking for alternatives to Neil Taylor... (4.4m to spend).

I'd love to know this too. If not then I'm going McAuley from WBA. Not nearly as good fixtures but the most important thing from a 4mil defender is he's at least playing every week.

I have the same problem. If i had 0.1 more i would have Woodgate. Asked about Boyata before and people seem to think he is likely to play but far from sure.

Taken my first 4 pointer of the season, HOORRAAAHHHH IT BEGINS!!!

That means I am now 20 points from being the number one Cameroonian on FPL rather than 16.

Are people still in CAR now-days?

I wanted to bring in Sturridge this week and then swap to Suarez with my free next week but if Suarez rises by .1 I couldn't afford him. Even if it doesn't bring much this week I hope that Suarez will go nuts vs. Norwich.

50/50 from what Mancini said. Think Super Mario may play up top with Silva and Johnson on the wings and Yaya in behind. But its City so anything is possible.

Mancini could easily annoy everyone and play

        Hargreaves De Jong/Barry
        Milner Toure Johnson
        Balotelli

I don't think any of those played twice last week and their key players will be fresh for a big week for the club.

I wouldn't transfer out or in any City players, if you have them just keep your fingers crossed and arrange your subs in the correct order.

    Team for the weekend
    Kenny
    Bosingwa Ward Simpson
    Gerrard Silva Mata Taarabt
    RVP (c) Ade Welbeck
    (Vorm; Dyer, Brown, Warnock)

Gonna be 25 points or 65 I reckon.

And in a matchup he traditionally gets booked/sent off in.

Mata > Ramsey... NO THANKS! But I assume that you need to do that in order to ger RVP in. Which in turn I assume means that you will be taking a minimum 4 point hit. Not worth it, hold tight for fixtures to come good IMO.

Silva will start for sure but as for Aguero, I don't think he will start or even come on from the bench.

Aguero won't be risked against the villains.

Aguero is not in the squad for the game against Villa.

So need to take him off, thoughts on
Out: Aguero and Young(already had Nani)
    In: VanPersie and VanDerVaart
