The Suspension Tightrope claimed a new victim this week as United’s Matteo Darmian earned his fifth yellow card of the campaign in yesterday’s goalless draw at Selhurst Park. Owned by 18% of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers, the Italian now misses the home clash against West Brom and with Antonio Valencia still injured, Louis van Gaal has decisions to make at right back.

The Tightrope welcomed four new faces over the weekend, with 14 players now standing just one caution away from a single-match ban. Palace playmaker Yohan Cabaye, Swansea skipper Ashley Williams, Watford’s raiding right-back Allan Nyom and Liverpool midfielder Lucas are the latest recruits. The latter was perhaps a little fortunate not to earn a second yellow in the 3-1 win at Stamford Bridge after a foul on Ramires resulted in no more than a warning and proved a major post-match talking point.

Whilst Jose Mourinho was reluctant to comment for fear of FA disciplinary measures, Lucas, unsurprisingly, commended whistler Marc Clattenburg’s decision not to send him packing:

”They [Chelsea] will probably talk about it, it’s normal especially when you lose a game. The first three fouls in the first 10 minutes of the game probably were just fouls that maybe wouldn’t be a yellow card. Sometimes in my position you make fouls but more to stop the game and I think it was a good decision from the referee. He controlled the game very well, all the situations with the Chelsea players I think he dealt with it really well and I think it was a fair game.”

In terms of other new suspensions, Norwich will be without skipper Russell Martin for the Gameweek 12 home encounter against Swansea. The versatile defender was dismissed at City for denying a goal scoring opportunity – his handball in the box handed the hosts their first penalty.

Southampton will be devoid of Victor Wanyama’s services for next weekend’s trip to Sunderland. The Kenyan international avoided climbing onto the Tightrope after he was dismissed for collecting two bookings in this afternoon’s home win over Bournemouth – instead, he remains on three yellows and has been handed a one-match ban, thus returning in time for the Gameweek 13 clash against Stoke.

West Ham’s James Collins is set for a three-match ban after being dismissed for violent conduct during yesterday’s surprise loss to Watford as Slaven Bilic’s side lost for the first time on their travels this term.

After qualifying for the Europa League due to their fair play record, the Hammers have now received four red cards in the first 11 Gameweeks under their new manager, with Mark Noble (rescinded), Carl Jenkinson and Adrian the other parties concerned.

Bizarrely, this was the eighth red in just 11 Premier League matches involving West Ham. There has now been a sending off in each of their last four league outings, with Sunderland’s Jeremain Lens, Palace’s Dwight Gayle and Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic all seeing red in the three fixtures prior to yesterday’s trip to Vicarage Road. Taking all competitions into account, there has been 12 red cards flashed over West Ham’s 18 fixtures with Bilic at the helm – the London club have been culpable on seven of those occasions.

Finally, reports this evening suggest Diego Costa could be set to escape retrospective action following another spat with nemesis Martin Skrtel. The Chelsea striker appeared to dig a boot into the Slovakian’s chest after both fell to the ground during the Reds’ 3-1 win but it’s believed that referee Clattenburg saw the incident and decided to take no further action.

Given that Costa has already served a three-match ban this season, this will be a huge relief for the under-fire Jose Mourinho if confirmed. Taking his previous ban into account, another stint on the sidelines for violent conduct would have earned Costa a four-match suspension this time around and forced him out of the upcoming league matches against Stoke, Norwich, Spurs and Bournemouth.

Yeah. Still it's not often you need 50+ points in a week at this stage of the season though is it?

We had a 61 in GW8 and the next higher has been 38. The 38 week had an average of 41 so 42/50 is still pretty easy to pass.

It compares decently with 50 atm. Kane doing well would get it closer to the average tomorrow night. In 2016, the safety score should be close to the average most weeks if FFS is doing well.

    A) stick with Martial (which is what I think I should do, but price dropping in an hour)

    B) drop him for ighalo (raises money for Sanchez or Aguero)

    C) drop him for Lukaku

If you want to play 3-5-2 then B) If 3-4-3 then Lukaku

Exactly. Mid- and low-table teams rotate way less than the top teams in that period, so I'll just have to make sure my rotation defenders has decent fixtures. WBA defenders will be gold during that spell with BOU, swa, NEW, STK and Pulis never rotating his defence. Probably bringing in Ward next week who has stk, bou, SWA, CHE.

Very good point mate, those fixtures look beutiful indeed. I might get rid of dawson next week but bring him back for that run, and may look at Palace defender during that time as well. Thanks for your help!

I have Lukaku in UFPL and no Ighalo...so i'll reverse it for FPL...Ighalo stays.

Just some randoms I've thought about:

15/18 of Pelle's goals are at home. Decent captain choice at home.

Playing Dawson away at Old Trafford seems like a bad idea on paper but might turn out well.

Begovic>Hennessey is an undesirable transfers but one that could be great in the long-term.

I want to point out mama sakho's performance - defensively solid, composed, and his ability on the ball and to distribute is starting to shine through Klopp has backed him in and hopefully he keeps it up!

For sure. He has been awesome in every Klopp games so far. FPL aside, I reckon he was criminally under utilised by the fraud BR.
We have a top quality CB on our hands.
lol at all the Sakho lollers.

Yep! not speaking at all from FPL perspective, he is an absolute gun and still very young

. I sort of hate having LFC players because it breaks me if we lose and do crap.

Need another one as well.. skrtel not going be around forever and lovren is more of a potato than koflok's grav

Hey lads... quick one before price rises and falls.. .

    A) Lukaku and Albrighton (probably albrighton)
    B) Ozil and Ighalo

leaning A because it's cheaper and have Kun in the back of my mind!
    Cheers

This is the issue... other mids are Sanchez, KDB, Payet and Mahrez... don't want to be benching Mahrez... so it's either 3-5-2 or 3-4-3...

Ozil has been key to everything... mahrez is explosive but flip a coin. if you want to save some cash with kun in your mind then go Ozil.

Watched the Chelsea v Liverpool game again and I find it sad how the Chelsea fans resorted to singing about Gerrard. It was funny at first but now they're just obsessed.

Having decided to decline Lukaku's kind offer of a good pick for Ighalo I can now turn my attention back to plan A by bringing in DDG and Silva (if fit)...Nice...

Looking at a spurs defender. Thinking Dier or walker?

    But can't decide which,

Does walkers attacking potential from wing back just edge it? Or does Diers out of position potential?

    1. OPTA FPL

      Walker

I'd probably say Dier simply due to nailedness and that Walker is fairly injury prone. There has been no evidence thus far of rotation at RB but Trippier is always lurking.

Dier plays CDM which isn't really OOP, fullbacks are actually more attacking. But he's a big threat from set pieces

So I'm wildcarding next week, and have a trannie for a one week punt. I'm happy with my front 7, so I can get a defender of any price this week. Who is the best? (Already own Kolarov)

    A) Smalling (WBA)

    B) Bellerin (TOT)

    C) Moreno (CPL)

    Cheers 🙂
