Following on from Halloween, it’s time to revisit a horror show Gameweek from Granville.

Having gathered an array of green arrows in recent weeks, my ScoutCast co-host produced a pair of transfer howlers, watching on from behind the sofa as both Philippe Coutinho and Riyad Mahrez banged nails into his Gameweek coffin.

Jonty and I do our best to dwell on Granville’s misery for as long as possible, before attempting to cheer him up with similarly scary tales from the community in β€œRough with the Smooth”.

We then take on your questions, debating Leicester’s legs, United’s decline and whether we can actually tame the Fantasy Football troll that is Romelu Lukaku.

This episode of the ScoutCast was broadcast live on Tuesday evening (before the news on Hector Bellerin’s injury) via our YouTube channel.

You can catch the full un-edited version of this episode via the larger player below, or take in the β€œpolished” audio effort via this link or the smaller player.

You can get wind of future episodes by subscribing to our YouTube channel.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    How does this look?

    de Gea
    Cédric | Janmaat | Moreno
Sánchez | De Bruyne | Mané | Willian
    Lukaku | Pellè | Ighalo

    Surman | Cathcart | Souaré | Hennessey

4.6M ITB, which is the exact amount required for Pellè --> Agüero.

I've been switching between Sanchez Vardy and Kane as captain all week. Arsenal have the best defence in the league but with Bellerin out, you never know. What was your thinking behind Kane.

Btw, you're team is shaping up nicely! πŸ™‚

I've looked at this table 15+ times this week, the most helpful out there imo.

But from this, what I'm getting is that Kane and Vardy's stats are both on the up and fairly similar. Is it just that 1 extra SOT that edges your decision? I'm just asking as your ticker suggests Leicester have a better chance at winning + Watford have a somewhat weaker defence than Arsenal. What is your thinking?

    On behalf on Wild Rover

    Rare long post from me

Still seeing a constant flow of questions about when to play the AOA chip but the truth is, unless you get really lucky it has very little value. The chances of all of your front eight scoring well in the same week is minimal and even then you can bet one or more of your defenders on the bench also scores well. As far as I can see there are only two situations where it is worth playing.

    1) You have a front eight who all have good fixtures and can't decide who to bench.

While this won't guarantee you success and some will likely fail, it will at least ensure you don't bench the one with the highest score, but there is still a chance one or more defender scores better than some of your front eight. Risky if you have three def's also with good fixtures.. and you will still captain the wrong player

    2) You can't field three defenders due to bans, injuries or being out of favour, or your 3rd, 4th and 5th defenders have terrible fixtures. Although it gives you a better chance of at least having eleven players, it's not likely to bring much success if Westwood or Wanyama is your fifth mid. There is also a risk one of your mid's doesn't play, your Bournemouth defender comes in away to Arsenal and you lose your chip.

Best bet for me? Probably wait until you have awful fixtures for defenders and use a freebie to upgrade 8th fwd/mid assuming you don't already have Ighalo or similar.

      Klopp loves attacking full backs.
Moreno is getting forward a lot plus the Pool seem a lot tighter at the back now as well.
      Good enough fixtures too upcoming.

I'm not too sure how Palace at home is a bad fixture tbh, they've only scored 4 goals since Gw5 (2 or 3 being PK's, not certain). Yet they had alright ok-ish attaching fixtures tbh (MCI, tot, wat, WBA, WHU, lei, MUN). Weak attacking stats as well in these last four - a mere shadow from earlier in the season - in the bottom five for chances created, big chances, & goals in these last four.

Moreno's playing like a winger under Klopp & is key to most of their attacks on the counter, his defense has also been great. Like you said, very strong fixtures afterward & did I mention he's 4.8m πŸ˜‰

Not funny ha ha. He would want to sort himself out.

Martial through the middle not stuck out on the wing. Herrera and Schneiderlin when fit need to be first names on team sheet.

No, it's one of these statistical things LVG does based on past injuries, games played etc. statistically a player is more likely to get injured in the "red zone" so he leaves them out or rests.
