We take a Friday dinnertime check over the Premier Punt game now ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. This week, I’ve cause for celebration after raking in over £100+ profit in the Gameweek gone by. Read on as I reveal my plans for the upcoming round of fixtures..
This Week’s Games
There are two big guaranteed pots in Premier Punt this week.
The main draw is a £250 game for a £5 fee – it’s possible to enter three teams into this competition and the overlay makes it worth considering more than one entry. For the high-rollers, a £200 contest for £20 entry is also available.
For both the weekly and daily timeframes there are also £2, £5, £10, £20 and £50 games, so plenty to get involved in.
I feel it may be worth looking beyond most of the sides that took part in the midweek European matches, as there could be some tired players amongst their ranks – particularly from those that travelled abroad.
My Team
I’ve focused on teams without mid-week matches in forward positions, then, with six of my front seven well rested in midweek.
I start with high-flying Leicester City assets as the backbone of the team – Jamie Vardy (8.7m) and Riyad Mahrez (9.9m) are in blistering form and offer excellent value at those prices. Watford visit the King Power and Robert Huth (7.7m) is the pick of the Foxes defenders, with Jeffrey Schlupp classified as a midfielder in Premier Punt.
The clash between Bournemouth and Newcastle could feature plenty of goals with both defences finding it difficult to keep clean sheets, so Glenn Murray (7.6m) and Ayoze Perez (7.7m) fill the other striker spots.
In midfield, I’ve opted for Dusan Tadic, (10.8m) who is up against a porous Sunderland backline, and Ross Barkley, (10.3m) who’s been firing plenty of shots and faces a West Ham outfit without a clean sheet in six. Kevin De Bruyne (10.8) provides good value and completes the midfield – he was given just 17 minutes off the bench in City’s 3-1 win in Sevilla.
Elsewhere, I can’t ignore Man United’s defensive form so I double up with David de Gea (9m) and Marcos Rojo, (8.8m) while Alberto Moreno (8.4m) provides the cheapest route into Liverpool’s defence.
The Bottom Line
A great week with a 2nd place finish in the £300 pot and a 3rd place finish in the £500 pot bringing in a total of £110 to leave me with £232.34 in the pot. I narrowly lost out on first place, with my team in both contests scoring 71 points. FPL Fly topped the games with 74 points.
This Week’s Stake
The healthy new balance means I can be a little bit looser with my stake now and I enter the full three line-ups into the £250 guaranteed game for £15. I also enter the ‘challenge the pros’ game for a £1 fee. I’m also strongly considering putting one of the teams into the £20 game for a £200 pot but will make a decision on which team to pick on Saturday morning once I’ve finalised my line-ups.
Stake – £16
Current Balance – £216.34
