The Fantasy Football Scout Leagues Round-Up

With the third international break of the season upon us, we’re afforded time to assess the leading contenders in the Fantasy Football Scout leagues across a variety of games. With leagues in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), Ultimate Fantasy Premier League,Sky Sports and Sun Dream Team, there’s plenty to catch up on.

FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE

Jon Mjelde surged to the top of our Scout League – and 20th in the overall rankings – by way of a 64-point haul this Gameweek. His decision to captain Romelu Lukaku paid dividends, while Jamie Vardy and Harry Kane also found the target. Although all four of Jon’s midfielders drew blanks, clean sheets from David de Gea, Virgil van Dijk and Aleksandar Kolarov bolstered his score.

Despite posting 60 points (15 above the average), Mark Kalafatas was displaced from the top spot following the last round of fixtures. The 29th-ranked manager opted for a 3-5-2 set-up, deploying Vardy and Lukaku as his strike partnership. Manuel Lanzini (1% ownership) proved to an excellent differential, while Mesut Ozil carded a handy eight points.

Samuel Slennet – who sat at the summit when we last penned a leagues round-up – sits in third place by virtue of a 57-point Gameweek. Samuel was rewarded for handing Vardy the skipper’s armband and also profited from Jack Butland’s and Daryl Janmaat’s shut-out points.

Amassing 72 points, Chris Rigden propelled himself into fourth place. A back four that included the likes of Butland and Scott Dann combined for 31 points. In the attacking positions, Ozil, Lukaku and Vardy (captain) brought home the bacon.

Rounding off the top five, Panna Fricker (65 points) also excelled on the defensive front after plumping for double Manchester City coverage (Bacary Sagna and Kolarov). Captain Harry Kane and Vardy complemented her defensive returns.

We’re pleased to say we sit in top spot in the League of Leagues as we look to defend our title for another season. To join this league use the code: 600-520

FPL MEMBERS SCOUT LEAGUE

Jon Mjelde is also the frontrunner in the Members League and boasts a 34-point lead at the top of the leaderboard.

Andrew Dougan retained his second spot from last Gameweek with a tally of 48 points. Although his Alexis Sanchez captaincy failed to hit the mark, Vardy, Lukaku, Butland and Kolarov came up trumps.

Third-place Marsel Levi was left frustrated by Wilfried Bony’s early withdrawal but still managed to accrue 50 points. Beyond a Vardy captaincy, Kolarov, Ozil and De Gea were his key performers.

The curiously named Zunker 1 will have some tinkering to do in the wake of injuries to Mamadou Sakho and Dimitri Payet. Nonetheless, they notched a respectable 48 points, owing to a Lukaku captaincy and solid returns from the likes of Vardy and Marcos Rojo.

Trev Grant edged into the top five after picking up 49 points. Owning Payet and Bony thwarted his progress, but a captained Vardy, Kolarov and Chris Smalling rescued his Gameweek.

ULTIMATE FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE

Panna Fricker’s success extends to Ultimate Fantasy Premier League ladder, where she sits in the gold-medal berth. A 60-point Gameweek elevated her to a total score of 932 – good enough for second in the overall rankings.

John Donnelly is hot on the heels of Panna with 928 points, having relinquished the top spot due to a disappointing 30-point haul. Ryan Evans slipped into third position with a score of 920, despite beating the 43-point average by five points.

Michael Wong ended this Gameweek on 915 points after tallying 63 points – no one in the top 50 surpassed that total on the weekend. Dean Howard retains a place in the top five but is now five points adrift (910) of Michael Wong.

To join this league, use the code: 1258-516.

SKY SPORTS FANTASY FOOTBALL

Alan Wood (826 points) has taken a commanding lead at the peak of the Scout League, with Mark William (792) 34 points back in second place. Jeff Payne (783) is clinging onto third by a one-point margin yet has chalked up five more goals than Alan Wood.

We currently sits in fourth spot in the league of leagues as we look to defend our crown. To join this league use the league name: FFScout and the code: 8009000

SUN DREAM TEAM

Jeff Payne (776 points) enjoys a 10-point lead at the top of the table, with Chris Smalling (93) tallying the most points among his 11-man squad. He’s profited greatly from a back five comprised entirely of Manchester United defenders, although there’s work to be done with injuries to Luke Shaw and Payet.

David O Byrne (766 points) fronts the chasing pack. Amassing 103 points, Graziano Pelle has been his star man, while Alexis Sanchez’s 87 points have also been impactful. A 23-point gap between him and Tony H. (743) has opened up, with the latter harvesting 187 points from his two-man strike partnership (Harry Kane and Pelle).

Nigel Dodds (739) has loaded up with seven of Louis van Gaal’s troops, including Wayne Rooney (104 points). He’s fending off the challenge from Tim Mongiat (738), who’s just one point adrift of fourth place and also possesses a team with a distinct Man United flavour.

    Mahrez, Sanchez, Mane, KDB, Payet
    Kane, Pelle, Vardy

I have a pretty solid front 8, including Payet.

    A) save transfer and take £0.2 drop on Payet
    B) Payet to Delafoue (benching headache)
    C) Payet to Bolassie (benching headache)

What about going the cheaper 5th MID route? Save you from the benching headache every GW?

Depends on your plan for future transfers. I have a 3 transfer strategy for Aguero and a 0.2 drop in a player involved would scupper it.

      Otherwise save?

    How this sound?

My defence needs some work - Francis, Richards and Cedric 🙁 but thinking of using my 2 FTs for other, hopefully bigger things:

McCarthy > Hennessy and play as my other goalie is Myhill and

    Payet > Özil

GW13 defence = Kolarov (LIV), Toby (WHU) and Cedric (STK) with Richards 1st sub.

This leaves me with enough to do Pelle > Agüero

    Any suggestions most welcome

    Thanks

All things equal, you'd say Lukaku. But I think the best way to look at these is to give an example of how you might spend the extra 3m

Example; Lukaku and Bolasie or Ighalo and Ozil

He's good enough to be a 4th, but if you like benching headaches a great 5th.

I think West Ham might struggle for goals over the next three so I might steer clear in the short team just because it would be a -4.

      Want him though.

Not personally on a WC but for those that ARE on a WC over the next two weeks, I wouldn't go scrambling for a cheap 5th mid under £5m.

There may be a case for ignoring one of the medium priced big hitters up front in Lukaku / Kane / Pelle / Benteke, and going for Ighalo as a 3rd striker. It allows you to upgrade that 5th mid to someone far more useful.

    DDG - Hennessey
    Bellerin - Bertrand - Rose - Wollscheid - Simpson
    Sanchez - Ozil - Coutinho - Mahrez - Bolasie
    Aguero - Lukaku - Ighalo

Just how I would see it if I was to be on a WC, as all the posts I'm seeing recently seem to have a dirt cheap 5th mid.

So would you rotate Bolaise with Mahrez, or just keep benched? And if the latter, then whats the point in having the extra 1.8m tied up in him? Couldn't you use that to upgrade your defence or get a city Mid?

      1. Irish Madridista ⭐
        • 14 Years
        9 years, 2 days ago

I would personally rotate attackers (Bolasie, Mahrez, Ighalo), and I think it's just as much of a waste to have a midfield slot taken up on your team by a player who will get a maximum of 3 points on a good day..

Especially when there are so many more options in midfield this year than there are up front.

Thanks for the advice. It certainly allows for an upgrade in the midfield but continues the possibility of benching Ighalo's points.

I still have him (having bought at 5.0) so will be reluctant to let go if I do it

Have to bench one though and I'd be confident Kane will outscore that team's Bollasie / Ighalo rotation pair over the mid term

Ah but that's where you're misunderstanding..

It's not (Bolasie + Ighalo) vs (Sinclair + Kane)

It's (Ozil + Ighalo) vs (Sinclair + Kane)

You're forgetting that Ighalo is 4.1m cheaper than Kane, not 2m.

With Vardy it's fixtures and the side he plays for. Leicester aren't finishing in the top 5 so expect some declining output. Ighalo plays for a side that scores few goals. Anyone that think is he will continue to be involved in almost every goal they score is deluded.

It's not great is it? You'd have to sacrifice one of the attackers or Sanchez to redress the imbalance in the team

Kane to Vardy does give the option to upgrade midfield.

Also downgrade Sanchez to Silva gives plenty more options. Hmm

I'm planning the exact same thing. It will take a couple of hits but v possible. Looking at:
      Hennessey/McCarthy
Bellerin/Moreno/Rose/Williams/Richards (would prefer not to have the last two)
      Mane/Ozil/Sanchez/Mahrez/4.4 or less
      Kane/Lukaku/Aguero

      Bego , McCarthy

      Mahrez , Sanchez , Ayew , Sterling , gosling

      Kane , Lukaku , Aguero

With 12 points total in hits, I can get this by GW15:

      Butland (McCarthy)
      Kolarov - Bellerin - Moreno - Ward - Richards
      Sanchez - Ozil - Wijnaldum - Mahrez - Surman
      Kun - Kane - Lukaku

The weakpoint in that team is obviously Wijnaldum, but other than that I'd be very happy with that.

It is extremely difficult to have a balance, but there are possibilities

      Gomes - Hennessey
      Bellerin - VVD - Rose - Moreno - Simpson
      Sanchez - Ozil - Mahrez - Wijnaldum - Gosling (or Tadic - Surman )
      Aguero - Kane - Lukaku

    Payet > Willian, anyone?

Chelsea next 6 fixtures: NOR, spurs, BOU, lei, SUN, WAT.

At 6.8m and with those fixtures, difficult to ignore. On set pieces and in the best form since he's joined Chelsea.

Three of those home fixtures are arguably against the worst defences in PL. He should get some returns in those fixtures, buy him now, benefit from the price rises. Might be tough for Managers to get Hazard into the team if they have Sanchez, KDB and Kun. Only entry to the Chelsea mid will be the in form Willian.

Hi all - How do we know at which price we brought someone? I'm trying to work out if Payet will drop for me or not tonight.

I'm toying with replacements. As an Everton fan I want Deulofeu, but I'm thinking Lanzini might be best as it gives me more money and means less changes to get Aguero in. Current team is Begov, McCarthy, Bellerin, Souare, Van Djik, Huth, Moreno, Ozil, Sanchez, KDB, Payet, Mahrez, Vardy, Gomis, and Pelle. 1.4 in the bank. I'm toying with Payet for Lanzini, then Ighalo and Aguero for Pelle and Gomis. Then Bego and Huth out at some point. I'm also playing with the idea of getting in Lukaku and then bringing in Aguero in both City's home game with Swansea in a month. I figure he might not start for a couple of weekends, although Pelle is rarely careful.

For 10+, 2 assists isn't cutting it. Just sell Coutinho when he loses form. You can get plenty of cheaper players matching his last 4.

Could that run just be a blip though, I mean every player has them. And with Aguero/Silva back, wouldn't his assist and scoring potential go up?

I get what you're saying though, I guess I'm reluctant to sell when I purchased for 10m, in case I want him back if he goes his early form

I initially thought it was an overreaction by a few to "only" 2 assists in 4 games, but then everyone seems to be saying to transfer him out... I think I'll stick to see how he goes with Aguero/Silva back.

          Also, nice OR btw!

I think he's just an easy makeweight since he doesn't have an FPL history like Sanchez does, for example. People that don't know him from Germany are quick to assume that good production is just a blip and not part of the norm.

I'm most likely sticking with as well and probably looking to sell Kolarov to fund Aguero.

            and cheers!

Opinions on getting a £4.3 midfielder (e.g. Surman)? Only possible way to fit Aguero into my team with two transfers only (currently have KDB and Sanchez). The other option is to get e.g. Deulofeu and probably downgrade KDB.

Have Pelle, Lukaku, Vardy up front though, so no space for Ighalo. Pelle --> Aguero the obvious move I think, although almost certainly not this Gameweek (since Pelle is at home vs Stoke).

Yup I'd definitely wait a week at least in your situation.

I'm thinking something along the lines of:

            Pelle / Vardy / Payet
            out for
Aguero / Ighalo / decent midfielder, (alá Bolasie / Tadic?)

So you could get rid of Payet for someone decent this week, save a transfer next week, and then ship pelle and vardy for free.

I'm downgrading KDB to Yaya. I also have to have Barry as a fifth midfielder at 4.3. Good fixtures tho but really only bench fodder.

Not selling Kolarov until he's benched.

      I've got backup.

I'd definitely be looking to get rid of Kolarov soon. Spurs defenders not warming to you? Would save you some money as well

Any suggestions for a gamertag? I want to keep "AA7" in the gamertag. So far I have come up with:

    Elite AA7 and Captain AA7

    Any other suggestions?

Personally I'd stick with KDB for another couple of weeks. It's a worry seeing him getting shunted around, but he is clearly a wonderful footballer, capable of lots of lots of goals and assists. His movement is incredible. I'd look at KDB for Silva in a few weeks if he is under performing then.

The fact he takes set pieces is a huge reason I'll keep him. Lost form but not a priority to take out.

    Myhill Mccarthy
    Bellerin Kolarov Rojo Whittaker Oxford
    Sanchez KDB Ozil Mane Mahrez
    Vardy Pelle Ighalo

I need a mid up to 6.2 to replace Mane with so I can swap Pelle to Aguero. I will do this move the week City play Saints.

    A) Delefeo and have a bench headache
    B) Alli and leave some money to update other subs
    C) Super cheap and downgrade Kolarov so I can swap Ighalo to Lukaku later on

    Ta

Maybe play 3-4-3 to avoid benching headaches?

      So C.

Anyone thinking Sanchez (c) against West Brom next GW?! He'll be well rested as I don't think he's got any international fixtures with Chile this time!

Hmmm it's a toss up between him and Lukaku for me. I have it on Lukaku now but could change.
