In a new series of Members articles entitled “Talent”, we turn our attentions to players whose Fantasy fortunes have taking an upturn over their previous four Gameweeks. Digging deep into the Opta stats and our very own ICT Index, we analyse the data to ascertain just why this has come about. First up, then, is none other than Sunderland’s on-loan forward, Nicklas Bendtner.

A mere bench-warmer at Arsenal, the big Dane’s last-minute move to Wearside has kick-started his chances as a viable Fantasy prospect this term. With Asamoah Gyan moving to the United Arab Emirates to star for Al-Ain on a season-long loan, Bendtner has grabbed the role as Steve Bruce’s number-one forward and, so far, has justified his manager’s faith.

Although he missed last weekend’s game at Arsenal due to the loan arrangement with his parent club, Bendtner’s four games for Sunderland have seen him return one goal, three assists and three Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bonus points; that’s twenty-four Fantasy points from the 6.4 forward, an average of 6 points per game. He also took that form into last week’s international matches, scoring in Denmark’s crucial 2-1 Euro 2012 qualifier over Portugal- with a run of games under his belt, he’s starting to show a consistency that none, other than Bendtner himself, had expected. Here’s how he’s been faring up on Wearside:

Arggghh!! I was planning to ship out Young & Meireles tonight for Walters & Gerrard, but now that Meireles has proved a force in tonights game i cant ignore that he may do some damage to QPR, and i need to sell both to get gerrard.

anyones thoughts on whether getting rid of meireles is still a wise move? i desperately want gerrard and young out as he's not dragging in any points. thoughts appreciated 🙂

Or it could be possible Lampard, Ramires and Mikel start ahead of him. I'd go ahead with the transfer, I've got Gerrard in my squad, and am confident he'll be the highest scoring Liverpool player over their next few games.

i think i shall be doing that mate, just cant help myself not having torres in my team, and plus he's back to his fiery self, he's defo going in for me, possibly in place of sturridge as i want RVP still and Suarez for at least next 3 fixtures 🙂

Yep, excellent shout imo. I'd expect him to do some moderate damage to arsenal, and then he's playing leaky blackburn, and as sure as anything he will probably get some sort of brace over his former club at liverpool, i'd put nothing past it now he's back in form, thats a 50:50 though, im quite looking forward to how it works out for him, and for my team 🙂

i've got RVP and loved the points last week and i know Stoke had an epic fail after their trip to Ukraine a few weeks ago but to be honest I think its not going to be as straight forward for Arsenal this week as everyone seems to think. I do think however that Chelsea are going to pummel QPR. I'm swithering on wether or not to do something which could be genius or really foolish 🙂

Hmm i get where your coming from. However everyone knows how poor stoke are away, personally i think arsenal will beat them, like a sunderland kind of battering but not as much lol.

Chelsea will definately kill QPR, although im going for the Liverpool ride myself, having enrique, gerrard and suarez, that triple up better work lol 🙂

    Krul Vorm
    Enrique Brown Woodgate Simpson Gabbidon
    Silva Mata Nani Moses Dyer
    RVP Suarez Adebayor
    0.6m 1 transfer

Defense needs improving big time and feel I need more City coverage for nice run after United?

    Woodgate > BAE, Mata > Nasri (GW10)
    or RVP > Aguero (GW10), Gabbidon > BAE (GW10)
    or Other?

Because teams like Utd, City and Chelsea will always keep a decent amount of clean sheets. They'll go on a run where they'll keep say 3 in 5. People on here were saying the same about City earlier in the season and saying Kompany isn't worth the money. I got Bosingwa for 5.5, no way im getting rid of him now, that is a steal for a Chelsea defender with huge attacking potential.

Is Torres still suspended for this GW? Definitely think once he's back he will continue to be nailed on for Europe but rotated in the PL - i.e. Sturridge is a long term option. Any other Chelsea players you think are too?

I presume with ramsey starting on the bench tonight he will most likely start v stoke on sunday? let's hope so. won't be easy for the gooners but they should beat stoke. i'll say 2-0
