In a new series of Members articles entitled “Talent”, we turn our attentions to players whose Fantasy fortunes have taking an upturn over their previous four Gameweeks. Digging deep into the Opta stats and our very own ICT Index, we analyse the data to ascertain just why this has come about. First up, then, is none other than Sunderland’s on-loan forward, Nicklas Bendtner.

A mere bench-warmer at Arsenal, the big Dane’s last-minute move to Wearside has kick-started his chances as a viable Fantasy prospect this term. With Asamoah Gyan moving to the United Arab Emirates to star for Al-Ain on a season-long loan, Bendtner has grabbed the role as Steve Bruce’s number-one forward and, so far, has justified his manager’s faith.

Although he missed last weekend’s game at Arsenal due to the loan arrangement with his parent club, Bendtner’s four games for Sunderland have seen him return one goal, three assists and three Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bonus points; that’s twenty-four Fantasy points from the 6.4 forward, an average of 6 points per game. He also took that form into last week’s international matches, scoring in Denmark’s crucial 2-1 Euro 2012 qualifier over Portugal- with a run of games under his belt, he’s starting to show a consistency that none, other than Bendtner himself, had expected. Here’s how he’s been faring up on Wearside:

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Sorry for being unclear, yes that was my prospective team up there.

        Current team is:
        Given Vorm
        Bosingwa Kompany Simpson Ferdinand Senderos
        Dyer Silva Mata Moses Bale
        Rooney Suarez Holt

.. need to get rid of some of the deadwood and I could make a bit of cash this week. Next WC available GW20 so now seems a good time to play first one. Realise I need to bring some Man U cover back in a couple of GWs time though.

        Appreciate the responses guys.

Sorry for asking again, but if I'm deciding for A I want to do it today before the rise

my defence: Lescott Bos Simpson Gabbidon DeLaet bank 0.4

    A. Lescott>Enrique
    or
    B. DeLaet>Boyata
    or
    C. save transfer and play the first 3

    Cheers

who's your keeper? have you a free transfer?

you don't really have a good enough first 3 and you could do with some investment. but i wouldnt wana sell lescott though as his next 2 games are good. but i can't see any decent replacements for gabidon for 4.4 so maybe it's worth saving that transfer...

        My team

        Given (Vorm)
        Lescott Simpson Bosingwa DeLaet Gabbidon
        Silva Sess Moses Ramsey Sinclair
        RVP Rooney Suarez bank 0.4

I have a free transfer, but as you said I don't see any decent replacement for 4.4. Boyata seems ok, but Bolton are not getting any cleanies. Enrique has probably the best chance plus I would get some additional cash to upgrade DeLaet one week later.

Do De Laet ---> Barnett 4m (is on rise anytime soon)... That guys is having a good run.. 25points with no CS that sounds impressive...
but only if you have a free transfer, not worth taking 4pt hit...

Is Gabbidon still injured? If so, get rid of De Laet for Boyata - Bolton home to Sunderland. Just in case Simpson doesn't play and you have to then play a defender.

Relating to my dilemma above, any opinions on what should be my priority?

    A. Upgrade Gabbidon to Shawcross/Enrique

    B. Upgrade Moses/Dyer to a Petrov/Ramsey/other option

Major effort to avoid hits this season. The conservative approach!

Cheers Doosra. I've had Ag and Roo nestled in my team since GW2. My first free transfer for this week was to downgrade Dzeko to Sturridge. No space, transfers, money for Ade, RVP and Suarez for the time being.

The 1.8 in the bank can be used to improve Gabbi or Moses. I suppose Gabbi has poor fixtures and injury prone so should perhaps go first.

This is the thing with the forward situation. The definition of dilemma! I don't actually fancy Arsenal's next two (''there, there RVP'') and Mancs fixtures are nice after the derby. Adebayor I like. Suarez flatters to deceive for me FPL wise.

BTW will Petrov be on pens now?

      Do A.
B: too much money not being used
C: Newcastles fixtures start to severely disimprove in about 2-3 weeks. Plus there is a chance (albeit small) that Simpson will still play
D: Chelsea not keeping cleanies. Get Kompany instead, but leave until after Manyoo.

in that situation i'd take the hit as brown has a bad run, enrique has a great run. aslong as you don't need the money elsewhere...

ramsey looks much better option than arteta but is he 4 points better? is he still on corners or is rvp doing them too?

I wouldn't trust Gerrard, it was only a dodgey free-kick that got him points and he's too expensive. You advised me to do a Sunderland defender out for Enrique so i'm gonna do the same.

How vital is Suarez this gameweek? my front three is Rooney, RVP and Sturridge, my leader is about 90 points ahead of me (he's currently 655) and he has him so I know he'll captain him, do I transfer him in for Rooney or stick and go with RVP as captain?

i have the same dilema as i have rvp, adebayor and agbon who all have great fixtures... i think it's more the case suarez may be vital over the next 3 games. im not sure i have to take the risk though, and it'd be even harder if i had your 3

came on late, was very advanced, scored the winner, didn't really have time to do much else. he got clattered just after his goal but thankfully seemed to get up and carry on fine.
i imagine he'll start. it's hard to see rosicky starting three in a row. the only danger is the whole stoke mental thing, but i think he played against them last season and got that monkey off his back. in fact he did, some of the stoke fans booed him for his cowardly fibula

Nani (MCI) Dyer (wol) Silva (mun) Mata (QPR)
Agbon (WB) Ade (BLA) RVP (STO)

    subs:
    Vorm (wol)
    P.Jones (MCI)
    SWP (CHE)
    Simpson (WIG)

    Bank: 0.2, 0 transfers

Only because of his recent awful fixtures. He's basically a midfielder (with his potential of penalties, set pieces and assists) and once Everton's fixtures clear up he'll be in my team. You say he's not worth 8mil .. is someone such as Mata (a popular FPL choice on here) really worth 9.5mil?

Of course I know what his game is about....but cleanies have been in short supply meaning there is a greater need for him to perform from set pieces etc. Personally Mata has done me proud thus far and is only getting better. On form and value he's doing Baines in....so that argument is flawed.

Another goal for Ramsey tonight and scores of 5, 10 and 7 in the last 3 FPL games...is he worth the investment. I have exactly 6.5 in the bank.

My options for this week are either

    a) Taarabt to Ramsey
    b) Taarabt to Petrov
    c) Taarabt and De Laet to 5.3m mid and Enrique (who has 3 good weeks and 3 tough weeks to follow so not sure if he is worth a 4-point hit?)

    a, b or c???

I vote A. Tempted by C, but i just don't really like 4 point hits for defenders as they only get 6 points for a clean sheet. So it's a 2 point gain over a 4 point risk. Not worth it in my opinion (it is just my opinion though 😛 haha)
