Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Tommorow, when last game in GW ends, with all this autosubs (Mahrez on the bench especially, plus many people have Coutinho in First 11), average points should rise a lot... And I am 2,000,000 curently in this week, just one point below the average.

Really considering Aguero (Triple Captain) this weekend. (yes, I've posted it before, but I'm trying to reach a different crowd)

A game vs Swansea at home is one of the best fixtures Aguero can get over the season. City will be looking to bounce back after a few upsets in the recent weeks. Another thing that makes me feel that it might be a good decision, is that even if City get a DGW later in the season, these might be two games against top opposition. Also, this might be the last time this season when he has such low ownership.

But, of course, there are many doubts and questions, like:

    a) Will Kompany be fit for the weekend (City win most games with him in the team, unlike when he is injured)
    b) Will Aguero play against Borussia M. in the Champions League?
    c) Is he able to play over 60mins?
    d) are Swansea likely to tighten up at the back?

What if the big hitters will be not avaible during Double Gameweeks? (injured or suspended) Or they might just get unfavourable fixtures for DGW.

In response to A - I'm sure Kompany has a huge impact on the defence but does he really have that much impact on the number of goals scored? In response to D - I like Monk but I think he's somehow lost the dressing room. I really don't think it would be an insane decision to triple captain him this weekend.

Sometimes I just need to go with my gut. I believe Aguero can get involved in at least 2 goals scored by City, but so does KDB. Will probably wait until Friday to know more about his fitness

Most obvious response ever, but have you considered using your chip on a DGW? Better chance of points there.

        • 10 Years
        10 years, 2 months ago

As I explained above, I'm afraid that a player that I'd like to TC on a DGW will be unavailable then or will have difficult fixtures.

Really good fixture but don't, wait until he's sure to play 60+ minutes or even another DGW captain.

City could go 2-0 up through KBB/Sterling and get taken off at half time with nothing.

dont think your idea/premise is wise
-kun did not play this week-you would want your triple capt on tip top form
-citeh lost this week-manager said they were tired-you would want the team behind your triple capt on tip top
-citeh play a top team in midweek-it can only get worst.

on the other side the jacks are bllox at the moment i suppose

      dont do it!

    Vardy, Aguero(c), Lukaku

    McCarthy, Azpi, Dawson, Westwood

Reckon save my FT this week? I'd only go Azpi to Toby and to be fair he would only come in for VVD

This was your classic fantasy football week. Such high hopes from everyone, a number of 'easy' fixtures, I had a great looking team, but it all went to sh*t. The only thing to be optimistic about is Lukaku captain. Chances are he'll end up with 1 point.

Any early ideas on this lot? 🙂

    Myhill - McCarthy
    Smalling - Coleman - Bellerin - Nyom - Targett
    KDB - Hazard - Ozil - Mahrez - Barkley
    Kane - Lukaku - Ighalo

1 FT and 0.2m in the bank.

After the Palace Sunderland game, big Sam said he did a job on Palace by blocking Bolasie and Zaha going forward. It worked!

Assuming he'll adopt a similar tactic this GW on Deeney and Ighalo.

What do we think his success rate will be?

I keep seeing people on here that usually do well who are not doing very well this season

People then reply that "it will come good" or "the tide will turn" etc

But, I am starting to get the feeling that it won't - this is a different sort of season.

    1. The types of player that FFS usually thrives on are the "difficult to afford" big hitters - Sanchez, Hazard, Aguero - this season they are either not firing consistently or injured

    2. The standard of the competition is rising sharply. I can see this clearly in my ML - where I used to be able to walk it, the teams now all (or mostly) look really good. I put this down to the rise of this website but also the massive increase in the use of stats by the media, etc

    Anyone else feel this way?

Exactly. Committed players will know how to play for DGW's and ensure they put themselves in position to get maximum points. Casuals will either a) not know the rules and what DGW are or b) have not built up enough TV and SV over the season to get all the prime players.

Of course, the way this season has gone so far, that could all mean feck all 🙂

It's tricky but I think the best players tend to be those with access to stats (like ourselves) that lead to hauls. I think importance has shifted more than ever to combining those stats with an understanding of the game.

As an example I'd use the fact that people still can't get their head round when Tadic/Cedric and, to lesser extent, Mane get benched or played. Koeman really plans for who and where they're playing - if they're away to superior opposition you're likely to see Cedric and Tadic benched. The opposition's defensive line is lilely to be high - Tadic's lack of pace renders him useless in this situation. Cedric's attacking and good with the ball but useless without. Mane's likely to be far more useful as the focus will be on counter-attacking football

It's still early. I had the most horrific start to FPL this season but finally made it into the top 1 mill. Lots of time left so could still make top 100k by the end. Obv that is nothing impressive but I would be happy given how ridiculous my start to the season was.

15 game weeks is really not that early! Gaps are already forming. The top 10k are extending their lead each week with Ighalo, etc

Ighalo is a good pick. I feel many people overlooked him as an unfashionable option compared to others. I can understand people picking other form strikers but those people who dropped him thinking Kane/Aguero were better options made a big mistake imo.

I agree with your reasons though I wouldn't call myself someone who does well.

I just posted on the last page that the absolute best squad in FPL right now, the full fifteen players, costs 99.9m. There is nobody you can't afford to get. That certainly seems different to me from previous seasons.

This absolutely supports my point. People don't need to think creatively to get a good squad this year. They can just fit in players like Mahrez, Vardy, Ighalo plus a few big hitters.

Assuming they both make it through the champions league unscathed I'm going to have a fun choice between picking up Ramsey or Silva.

      Janmaat points from GW9:

Not too bad for a defender playing in a team in the bottom 3, with most goals conceded.

If he blanked this week he was pretty certain to drop in value, now I think he should survive. I won't feel confident in playing him though. Like Cresswell (who I just replaced) he blanks too often in the easy fixtures.

      Or Wijnaldum.

Yeah, I agree on the 1st part - I never really thought of the 2nd part - it makes sense that it would with the money and, therefore players they're attracting. The Premier league is relatively terrible for atmosphere. I've travelled a fair bit recently and been amazed at the atmosphere at football matches everywhere - coming to the conclusion that the PL's atmospheres are awful rather than others being exceptional
