I know the stats say otherwise, but I think a big part of striding up the table is seeing things before they happen.

Of course, that lends itself to gambles!

            Hmm.

Personally I trust my instinct on watching football, but sadly I haven't seen enough this year to make any instinctive judgement on this, so perhaps you're right and we should go with the stats.

I just feel the point is coming where Vardy will stop scoring as frequently and people will be debating when to sell.

There's no tough fixtures for #1 team in the league who are scoring for fun. And he has blanked like what- 1 or 2 GWs this season. Madness to sell the lad.

Okay, let me ask you this then.

Assuming he doesn't continue this form all season - what would prompt you to sell?

        1. Morbius
          • 11 Years
          10 years, 1 month ago

I got Aguero at GW 4; and by his 4th blank in a row, I was prepared to sell him if he blanked his 5th. (Though he banged in 5 goals on his 5th)

If I was only prepared to give Aguero 5 games, I'd extend that to very few in the league. Need goals, not potential to score goals.

I thought you said just 1 more question? 😉

I don't think Deeney > Kane warrants a hit, even with the good fixture. I'd maybe just get rid of Bego if you have no other GK, and that's it.

Freedom of speech is not the same as saying you carry no responsibility for what you say..either morally or legally. I have no idea what the law says in America but the point remains.

            Morally I agree with you.

Legally I also agree. My use of the word "limits" may not have been clear enough 🙂 Legally speaking, threats can of course be criminalized. One can also criminalize racist speech, or hatespeech.

However, these statements by Trump (as in, Muslims should not be allowed to enter the US) fall well within the sphere protected by the freedom of speech (unlike if he had said that "muslims are worthless scum", or something along these lines). If a European country had fined Trump for saying something like that, let alone arrested him, that state would be in breach of the European convention on Human Rights article 10, as developed by the European Court of Human Rights.

Unfair to just level the criticism at English managers, but managers/players who have mainly had experience in England (could also be foreign) for me don't have a broad enough experience of tactical systems. Imo English football has been tactically & technically lacking for many years.

When do you guys think is the best timing to use your 2nd half of the season wildcard?

My school of thought for the whole season was to use my wildcard in advance of a double gameweek to capitalise/however my other train of thought is that I don't want to go all out on this and then spend 2-3 weeks afterwards earning less points than my competitors to benefit from just one.

    Thoughts?

1 gameweek before the biggest double, so you can then use triple captain or bench boost on the actual double as well.

Your team isn't likely to have more than 9 playing twice so with a bench boost I can't see how you'd be too far behind others the week after. Just make two transfers after it and I think you'll be fine.

What to make of Castle's victory over Pool- Luck or are there any signs of improving?

Want to know whether Kane(C)+Alli is a good idea or not.

Kane or Lukaku (c) for me

Alli is a bargain and soon to be my 5th mid

Liverpool were poor. Newcastle defended well though. The issue with 'castle' is that they sometimes start well, but as soon as they concede, their heads drop

Wasn't there some stats somewhere about there being most goals in the early kick offs and least in the Monday night games? I hate an early captain but I think I may actually do it this week as I don't own harry who is the only obvious other captain to me.

There's no tough fixtures for #1 team in the league who are scoring for fun. And he has blanked like what- 1 or 2 GWs this season. Madness to sell the lad.

I disagree with the 'no tough fixtures' point. A team can get to a higher league position by playing poorer teams, and the drop due to playing better teams - it happens time and time again.

Well, John Aldridge wasn't pleased with Firmino this weekend.
"Roberto Firmino is playing as if something is wrong, mentally and physically. He’s been absolutely redundant the last two games after such a great display at Man City. It can’t just be the fact his mate Coutinho has been missing. Christian Benteke played badly – he was stood outside the box when two good crosses came in, one from Moreno – but it was Firmino who made him look worse. Everything Benteke needed from him was absent in a horrible display.

"He needed him to be the link man but he wasn’t there. Benteke won his flick-ons but he was nowhere near him.

"Firmino was the missing link and things improved when Adam Lallana, who played well, came on. It was like chalk and cheese. If the ball is there to be won you win it. He’s going to have to learn to get stuck in."

What do with this lot? Tempting to sell one of the Saints, but feel like they easily can do OK at the weekend... Smalling does seem like a sensible move for the xmas period. 1 FT and 5.7 banked.

    Mignolet
    Moreno VvD Walker
    Mane Mahrez KDB Ozil
    Kane (C) Lukaku (VC) Vardy

    McCarthy Huth Francis Wanyama

    Thanks

    RMUCLT
    today 9 players / tomorrow 6 players
    Zoet (CSK) / Shovkovsky (MAC)
Arbeloa (MAL), Nacho (MAL), Maxwell (SHA) / Dragovic (MAC), Lahm (din)
Lucas (SHA), Matuidi (SHA), Stindl (mci), Muznikov (gal) / Pjanic (BAT)
