I know people who stay up until all hours on the other side of the globe to watch the team they support play. To me that represents as much dedication to a team as rolling out of bed and walking 10 minutes down the road, if not more.
Most of those people support those teams because they were either born or lived there or have an emotional attachment to them in some way. I'm talking about a kid who lives in Orient supporting Liverpool for no apparent reason other than Glory Seeking!

Because it's not as if these local football clubs are multinational businesses made up of a diversity of players and staff from around the world... I'm from the south, support Newcastle, and my doctor and I would both advise against supporting a team as adept at ruining your weekend as often as possible
I play my own sport, hockey on the weekends and follow my football around that. Much more emotional attachment to a team im actually a part of. Doesnt mean I cant support a football team too.
