Leicester and Man City play out a goalless draw at the King Power in the penultimate match of the Gameweek. The Foxes have now drawn blanks in each of their last two, whilst for City, Sergio Aguero’s minutes continue to be managed by Manuel Pellegrini.

Foxes Hold Firm at the King Power

Leicester City delivered a positive response to their 1-0 defeat at Anfield, holding Manchester City to a goalless stalemate at the King Power Stadium. The Foxes have now recorded three clean sheets in their previous seven match-ups, conceding just five goals against Manchester United, Chelsea, Everton and Liverpool in the other four fixtures. Ally this with their schedule across the next four Gameweeks (BOU, tot, avl, STO) and their sub-4.5 defensive starters could make for profitable pick-ups.

Leicester’s second consecutive blank also marked the first time they’ve failed to net in 15 home encounters. The East Midlands outfit tallied the fifth-fewest attempts (37) and third-fewest shots inside the box (23) over the past four Gameweeks but that, in part, could be attributed to the fixture difficulty.

Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy mustered just seven attempts apiece during that period but will be relishing the prospect of facing two sides (Aston Villa and Bournemouth) that rank joint-second for goals conceded (34) this term. The latter’s owners will be relieved after he avoided another yellow card last night – Vardy remains on four bookings and has successfully navigated the Suspension Tightrope, with the limit extending to ten on New Year’s Day.

City’s Away Worries Continue

The Sky Blues’ stalemate at Leicester marked the fourth time in five road clashes that they’ve failed to register a goal. In fact, Manuel Pellegrini’s men haven’t won away from the Etihad since a victory over Crystal Palace in Gameweek 5. Certainly, nursing Sergio Aguero – who was afforded a 63-minute run-out this time around – back to full fitness and form will be key to rectifying that shortcoming as they gear up for a procession of favourable trips (wat, whu, sun, new) in the coming months. Having failed to play at home to Sunderland last weekend, Aguero looks likely to retain his starting berth for the upcoming trip to Watford.

After the match, Pellegrini insisted he will continue to limit Aguero’s pitch time until he’s back to full match sharpness:

“We know Kun needs three or four games to return his performance after an injury and I am sure we are going to see the best Kun in the second half of the season. I never talk about individual performances because we are a team. We know, because we know him and after all this year he needs two or three games to return to his normal performance. He needs these minutes. I don’t want him to play more than 65 or 67 minutes. It will be very useful to see the best Kun in the first round of the second half of the season.”

On a more positive note, Man City carded their first clean sheet in the absence of Vincent Kompany – who’s expected to be sidelined for three to four weeks following his injury setback. Head-to-heads against Crystal Palace (home) and West Ham United (away) harbour strong shut-out potential, but owners of Aleksandar Kolarov and Bacary Sagna will be wary of rotation, given that their respective counterparts are back in the mix.

    With Demble out.
I'm going to play Alli and bench KDB

Alli will start as a false 9
    Kane at no 10

      Controversial that!
Especially because Everton away is a tough tough fixture.

But Watford hasvn't kept clean sheets in a few, and you feel City want to bounce back

            City is away from home.
Their form away is bad. And Watford defence is very sound

    Myhill - McCarthy
    Rose - Moreno - Bellerin - Francis - Wollschied
    Ozil - Barkley - Mahrez - KDB - Walcott
    Lukaku - Vardy - Ighalo

    2 FT, 7.2m ITB.

I was in a similar situation last week, and I'm in the same one this week ...

But you front 8 looks good, so it's either the gk change or a change in your defence but since you already have most of the 'good' defences there I would just sell Myhill. I bought Hennessey last week and played him ahead of Butland, always nicer if you have the option to rotate

Yeah. It's a hard one. I feel like I would rather get rid of one of my midfielders for a cheap option at some point. Allows an upgrade if I want.

Really hard to drop either of Mahrez or Barkley atm though.

Schmeichel to Hennessey has crossed my mind to save some cash but now Leicester kept cs vs ManCity so not so bad to play him now Butland has tough games soon. What do you think on my dilemma below?

    KDB Ozil Ramsey Mahrez Barkley
    Lukaku Kane Vardy
    2ft, 0,8 itb.
Barkley has tough fixture and I might downgrade him to prepare for Kun in soon, any better use for my ft? Who to get? Alli (5,3) or even Fletcher(4,3)? And next week Ramsey to Payet if he looks ready?

Francis looks a bit of problem still if you have nothing else to do, maybe to Simpson?
Barkley is consistent too, I don't have him but if I did I don't think I'd be getting rid. However if you want to Alli is probably the best option.
Other than that all looks good.

He can't do Francis to Simpson as he has 3 LEI already. I would downgrade Barkely, personal preference to who I guess. I might get Stanislas as my 5th mid this week as I have nothing else to do really.

    Butland,
    Bellerin, Kolarov, Dann,
    Ozil, KDB, mahrez, Ramsey,
    KUN, Lukaku, Igloo

    Myhill, Alli, Dawson, Nyom - 1.3m - 2 FT

Can't decide how to spend Ft... Quite happy with the squad...

    A) just leave
    B) Alli to Arnie just to bench for this GW but at least use a free and also provide decent backup
    C) KUN to Vardy for Bournemouth at home and Villa!... Great couple
Fixtures while KUN gets up to speed
    D) Ramsey to Walcott for Newc

    Thanks chaps

Although it defies common sense and basic fantasy etiquette why one would ever post erroneous information (to mess with others? Immaturity?), you've made a somewhat nice apology. Yet, pleading ignorance of the rules is in and of itself also uncool. You should simply know that out of courtesy, such behavior would be wrong and deemed unacceptable. Obviously, now you know, and in the grand scheme of things, the consequences here are minimal. In life (work, relationships, etc.), you'll want to be cooler ,wiser, and never plead ignorance after the fact. Lecture over.

Leicester have scored only 1 non-penalty goal in the last 3. I think their dream run is over. They will score but not at their 2-3 goals per game rate till now. Do they warrant a double up on Mahrez/Vardy anymore?

"pedigree" is irrelevant to how good a manager

Guus Hiddink has great "pedigree" but hasn't done one good thing as a manager since he left Chelsea

Its not JUST pedigree. His teams are very well organized while Pardew's teams are not. Pardew only and ONLY plays counter attacking football and I don't think Real Madrid (or any big club) would like that

I never said he has not done good . I am just saying that the amount of goals Pardew's team concede are the sign of an average manager . He relies on Bolasie and Zaha too much in his attacks .

I have absolutely no idea what to do this gw....2FTs, so need to do something...
    Any of these?

    A. Myhill to Hennessey / De Gea to Hennessey (releasing cash to get Sanchez later...)
    B. Ramsey to Walcott (Walcott vs Newcastle next...could get a big haul)
    C. Yaya to Payet (bench him until gets minutes...), 5th mid.
    D. Yaya (5th mid) and Kane to Alli and Aguero

Original plan was D, but after this gw it still might be too early to get Aguero.

    Your pick ? Thanks.
