A strong start to the new campaign suggested Nani had carried on the form that made the winger a near-essential acquisition in last season’s Fantasy game. The arrival of Ashley Young only seemed to spur the Portuguese star on to greater performances and while a return of 23 points in the 8-2 win against Arsenal had propelled Young into many a Fantasy team, the former Aston Villa player suffered from an inconsistency- the Gunners match is the only time he’s found the net so far.

Nani, on the other hand, was producing the goods with far greater regularity- 3 goals, 3 assists and 7 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bonus points in his first six games returned 45 points, an average of 7.5 per game. Since then, though, his season has somewhat stuttered. In fact, scrap that – that’s underplaying the decline. Let’s be honest, Nani’s season has ground to a halt quite spectacularly since gameweek seven.

A loss of form has seen him play just one hundred and eighty-four minutes over the last four matches and with no goals, assists or bonus points, he’s picked up 7 Fantasy points; 1.75 per game. Priced at 10.1, he’s burning a hole in the budget of 26.2% of teams right now and while similarly-priced Rafael Van der Vaart tears up the top-flight and David Silva is producing consistent, if unspectacular returns, many are starting to ponder Nani’s value in their Fantasy squads.

Using our own ICT Index and the Opta stats available to our Members, we analyse just how his season has unfolded, paying particular attention to his performances in comparison with both Van der Vaart and Silva:

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Luiz hasn't impressed at CB this season, and Alex seems to be out of favour, so I'd be surprised if Ivanovic plays RB. Didn't AVB say that he wouldn't be changing his style of play (part of which is to play attacking full-backs)?

Advice on my team this week
    Given (Vorm)
    Boswinga Simpson Enrique (Kompany Brown)
Silve Ramsey Mata Petrov (Bol) Cleverley...whos inj
    RVP (c) Suarez Graham
(2.1m) in the bank...1 free transfer
Thing is i think its an easy week this week, so tempted to go into the subs with Graham or Brown playing. If Evans was nailed on id put him in. Dont know if taking kompany out is a good move in long term. And chelsea plyin liverpool GW12.
Also dont have many alternatives for cleverley or graham.

I would keep Kompany for sure. 1 game off only and he's a guaranteed starter on the best defense in the EPL. I would think hard about keeping Cleverly since he's really not doing anything for you right now. I'd move him out and find someone in form at the price range. For example.. Sessegnon (next week really, this week is not a good matchup), Walters, Brunt, Drenthe etc.

Cashed in Nani for VdV last week. Paid off immediately as he was my Captain. Goal and 3 bonus points. I wish I had captained RvP but it's hard to imagine 3 goals against Chelsea at the bridge... this week, riding RvP again. Hard not to.

Rooney playing back in midfield is not even close to a 12m player. Moses is useless.. dumped him a few weeks ago and haven't looked back. I think you need to upgrade your defense a bit with some budget 1st team defenders from the top 5 EPL teams.

    Krul (Vorm)
Bosingwa / Kompany / Enrique (Simpson / Ward)
VDV / Ramsey / Silva / Cabaye (Dyer)
    Rooney / Suarez / Sturridge

I have 1 free transfer this week and £1.2 in the bank. So...

    A.) Kompany -> Jones
    B.) Kompany -> Kwalker
C.) Save and use 2 next week

I'm leaning towards A atm although I know I'm going to have goalkeeper troubles pretty soon. I might be okay for this week though, so perhaps I should sit tight for another week. What do people think?

      A. Over the season I think Kompany is a better pick but up to the January wildcard Utd's fixtures are much better and they are likely to get more clean sheets, Jones could get some attacking returns too.

Play Krul this week, then sell for Begovic (2 home games in a row against poor teams) and get Krul back at a later date for the great rotation with Vorm.

Only problem is that any injuries over the international break could leave you needing to make more transfers.

Wait until tomorrow for better news. Seems like he'll be fine to go based on the post game update from Mancini yesterday. But a day or two with a back makes all the difference. Need some updates.. nothing yet.

The only thing I've heard is Mancini saying it wasn't serious.

Hmm interesting article but I am keeping Nani for now considering Man U's fixtures but I will be watching very closely to see if Nani is in the team or not and if he doesn't then I may reconsider my position. I already have VDV and Silva but to upgrade Suarez after this week will probably mean dropping the Nani man...

    Good evening everybody!

    Current team is:

    Given – (Ruddy)
    (Kompany) – Enrique – Simpson – Gabbidon -( Shawcross)
    Nani – Silva – VDV – Sinclair – (Dyer)
    VP – Adebayor – Agbonlahor

Will probably WC next week. Would Kompany out, Jones in be a sensible move (FT)? Don’t want to play Gabbidon against MC. Will wait till last minute news about Shawx but it doesn’t look good.

I'm pretty happy with my team but I'm looking at the next 6-8 gameweeks. Don't want Simpson, Agbonlahor,Dyer,Given, Ruddy, and Enrique. But hasve to admit I am in doubt. Thinking about goinmg 3-5-2 instead of 3-4-3. Rotation on front could also lead me to a front 8 of:
        Silva - VDV - Sinclair - Sessegon - Walters / Drenthe
        VP - Rooney - Graham.

A question: given the unexpected, high-scoring & unpredicted results we've seen so far among the top 8/10 teams, is it realistic to say that any top team has tough fixtures coming up? I mean, why ship out Suarez after this week for instance? I've just brought him in, on the grounds that Liverpool could do quite well in the next few weeks - upping their game for the bigger matches?

Liverpool are the one 'big 6' team that haven't been high-scoring.

I agree, although I think Suarez is coming into form. But Newcastle, for instance - no hope given at Stoke and they break a hat-trick record. So, maybe they could surprise us in their next few "tough" fixtures?
