A strong start to the new campaign suggested Nani had carried on the form that made the winger a near-essential acquisition in last season’s Fantasy game. The arrival of Ashley Young only seemed to spur the Portuguese star on to greater performances and while a return of 23 points in the 8-2 win against Arsenal had propelled Young into many a Fantasy team, the former Aston Villa player suffered from an inconsistency- the Gunners match is the only time he’s found the net so far.

Nani, on the other hand, was producing the goods with far greater regularity- 3 goals, 3 assists and 7 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bonus points in his first six games returned 45 points, an average of 7.5 per game. Since then, though, his season has somewhat stuttered. In fact, scrap that – that’s underplaying the decline. Let’s be honest, Nani’s season has ground to a halt quite spectacularly since gameweek seven.

A loss of form has seen him play just one hundred and eighty-four minutes over the last four matches and with no goals, assists or bonus points, he’s picked up 7 Fantasy points; 1.75 per game. Priced at 10.1, he’s burning a hole in the budget of 26.2% of teams right now and while similarly-priced Rafael Van der Vaart tears up the top-flight and David Silva is producing consistent, if unspectacular returns, many are starting to ponder Nani’s value in their Fantasy squads.

Using our own ICT Index and the Opta stats available to our Members, we analyse just how his season has unfolded, paying particular attention to his performances in comparison with both Van der Vaart and Silva:

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

That keeper choice is a little unlucky, why Schwarzer in the first place? maybe go with the home team. Suarez could run riot, VDV/Bale exactly the same in respect but Fulham are usually quite strong at home may only be the odd goal in that game.

I've a very similar team and dilemma, Mole. Ramsey, Enrique and Staylor instead of Petrov, Ward and Simpson.

I think I'm going to save the transfer as I would swop for probably Jones or Evans, but it doesnt look as though prices will rise/fall any more for any of the three before Saturday (fingers crossed). Also, Bos has a pretty easy fixture this week.

I am not going to do a transfer this GW going to do 2 next. Just working out who out of:

Petrov/Suarez/Bos I will be taking out. Thinking if I do Suarez and Bos I could get Aguero & cheaper defender. But I have had enough of Petrov & want Walters. Anyway not going to do anything this GW going to leave it for the mo.

Interesting article about Nani but he stays this GW and I shall wait and see what to do with him.

I swapped Rooney for RVp two weeks ago and Nani for VDv last week.....I now fear lack of Man Utd coverage...but the last two weeks have certainly softened the blow. I think if you have nani or rooney now they have to be kept for a home game against sunderland surely.

NO! Seriously, taking a 4 point hit to get Nani OUT of your team with Sunderland at home is bonkers. Could easily have a good game this week, and be a keeper in the weeks to come if Rooney continues to play deep.

It sounds a fairly retarded move on paper I know but he has been so dodgy recently I'd be pretty surprised if I get anything higher than 2 points from him this GW. Already have Ade and Walker so slightly reluctant to get a 3rd Spurs player.

      My full team is:

      Vorm
      Jose Enrique, Simpson, Jones, Walker
      Walters, Nani, Silva
      Sturridge, Adebayor, Van Persie
Subs: Kenny, Kompany, B Johnson, Moses.

The only way either are going to get pts is through a penalty save

I covet Bergovic, but can't see a stoke cleanie this week. Bergovic is for gwk 12 I think. then Vorm's games get better.

I'm keeping Bos for now. I know there's been no clean sheets for a while, but Chelsea's fixtures aren't that dire and they are still a class act, even with a few blips. Also it is only Blackburn, always the chance of a Bos assist at Ewood Park.

But to try to answer your question, I'd wait til the int break and just do Hughes to someone like Jonny Evans (rotation risk but great fixtures) or Wilkinson. If you're wildcarding next week, You'd kick yourself if you WC'd now and picked up more red flags during the internationals.

Maybe you could get rid of Nani, and get a cheap or mid-price midfielder.
Then get your united coverage in De Gea.
Cos I know if I could afford it I would get some man u defence. Fergie seems to be changing style (or trying to).

Maybe Jones instead of de Gea? If Utd are going to tighten up, that will mean fewer save points for him - with Jones you get the attcking potential too (although he's less nailed on than de Gea). I'd always rather have a def from a top team than a keeper.

I think he is likely to (Im going to risk it anyhow) Young is injured but wait for further news on that, Nani is more Match sharp so more likely to play 2 in a row rather than Valencia, its at home so Fergie will put out a more attacking team than against Everton. But Fergie did say Fletcher was being saved and Park will play an important part so I give up lol!

            Nani Fletcher Rooney Park
            Hernandez Wellbeck ?

i have a bit of a defense dillema. with kompany suspended this week i have enrique and simpson (who i will play) but my other two defenders are naylor (liv away) and brown (manutd away). i was hoping to save my free transfer for the intl. break next week but something probably needs to be done about this. 1.3 in the bank but i was wanting to save that to upgrade dyer in the near future. just wondering what other people would do

Thinking of something a little different with my wild card (namely doubling up Utd defence/GK). Can you let me know what you think please:-

      De Gea/Ruddy
      Brown/J Evans/BAE/Kompany/Wilkinson
      Silva/VDV/Allen/Walters/Ramsey
      Rooney/RVP/Graham.

      Thanks in advance.

Bit heavy on United? Evans and De Gea?

The only person I'd want from United on form at the moment are Jones and De Gea.

Jones got an assist and looked a more attacking threat than Rooney mid-week. De Gea had an absolute stormer against us at Goodison.

With Anderson out this weekend I expect Shrek to sit in the middle.

Graham and Allen? Ugh. Liverpool, UNITED, VILLA, Blackburn, FULHAM..nuff said.

Drenthe will score 1 in 4 this year. Mark my words. I will bring him in once I see him settled into EFC's team. He has only made 1 start so far this year. His stats per minute are looking good.
