So I did it. After a couple of weeks attempting to resist Sergio Aguero and, despite meticulously constructing a convincing case to avoid him, I went back on my word.

Recovering from the dramatic climb-down, I felt rather hollow heading into this ScoutCast, with Jonty, Andy and Luke all too keen to watch on while I tucked into humble pie.

Not surprisingly, I spend a good part of this episode justifying the back tracking, before I join my co-hosts in offering views on another bout of community questions. We discuss the Lukaku exit plans, Ozil vs Sanchez and contemplate options between the sticks with Jack Butland losing his shine.

Then we move on to the Gameweek preview, as I desperately try to find some joy in pondering which mid-price defender to sign heading into Saturday’s deadline. Sigh.

This episode of the ScoutCast was first aired live on Wednesday evening via our YouTube channel.

You can view the full version via the larger player below, or soak up the more refined audio version via this link or the smaller player.

Don’t forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel for updates on new episodes.

NB: apologies in advance for Luke’s sound quality. We discovered a technical problem after the recording was completed. If you’re struggling to decipher what he’s saying, just imagine him agreeing with everything I say.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

        Why not Sanchez?

        5 shots itb vs Soton.

Altough that donkey Gru will lessen his appeal.

I would consider captaining him. I like to focus on my ML more, my rival also owns Sanchez so I might go Ozil/Kane as he doesn't own them. + I found Ozil more threatening than Sanchez last game.

While Bournemouth are near the bottom for chances conceded, they are the bottom for chances conceded per goal conceded. Seemingly resilient, but actually not so.

Already activated WC in a fit of despair.

So how is this looking? Haven't gone for Ali as I don't like a benching headache.

    Butland - McCarthy

    Koscielny - Ivanovic - Daniels - Simpson - Targett

    Sanchez - Payet - Mahrez - Ozil - Gosling

    Aguero - Kane - Ighalo

Hmmm just looks like most peoples team tbh.. Dont think its worth a wildcard. Most ppl have a similar team without using the W/C. Save it in my opinion.

      Ighalo should go.
No point having McCarthy on a WC.
      Targett isn't nailed
      Butland terrible pick short term
      Start again 🙂

Get a 2nd cheap playing keeper (good for benchboost if you haven't used). Elliot maybe as he will have a double down the line.

I'd get Vardy in there now as it saves a transfer.

Wouldn't have Ozil and Sanchez in there (although I do in my team). Sigurdsson a great pick atm.

Gosling not a bad 5th mid, but you could get Alli if you downgrade Ozil and bench one of the Leicester lads (don't fancy the double-up on the attack for the next 2)

If I were WCing now I'd def keep the blanks in mind (particularly GW30) and ensure your 5th mid, 3rd striker, 1 of your keepers and your 4th and 5th defenders are likely to have a fixture that week.

            Nice one mate.
Looks likely any cancelled or DGW fixs will be announced just before GW27 then.
Im holding out with wildcard for a while yet.

Yeah we'll know a lot more by then. Just be wary when making transfers now. I'm hoping to get a decent XI out in GW30 then probably WC GW31-GW33 to set my team up for the rest of the season and if possible get 15 players in for a DGW Benchboost and Triple Captain (hopefully 2 DGWs). Will probably be going super-differential as rank is terrible atm but all depends on how many points behind in MLs.

Dont forget that only one chip can be used at a time, including the WC.
Easy to line up a squad on a WC with intention of bench boost or TC only to be stumped.
Im leading my £10pp ML of 52 players with 45pt cushion. my rivals have all mostly paniced wildcards and bench boosts already.
My overall squad needs work but is decent enough and ticking along nicely at 13K mark.

I need some differentials. 90 behind in ML and all have chips and similar teams

    Lukaku to Costa
    Ozil to Sigy

    Worth doing?

Id stick with Ozil.. I feel u may have missed the siggy train. still potential for him next 2 but risky ditching ozil.

Ozil created more chances last game than most players create over 3.

I'd get rid of Henderson. Blank is coming up anyways.

Get Antonio or Alli as a 5th.

Perhaps...Henderson does get in the box occasionally but does not have many chances in general.

Seems more realistic to me. Likely to leave the national team after the Euros. Not sure why Allegri would bail on Juve for a worse team who won't even be in Europe.

Panicked and got rid of Lukaku early so team isn't looking that great this week (esp defence if Evans is injured). anything worth a hit (i.e. long-term defensive transfer) only 0.3 ITB tho?

    De Gea
    Cresswell, Evans, Moreno
    Sanchez, Ozil, Payet, Alli
    Kun (C), Kane, Afobe

    McCarthy, Mahrez, Simpson, Smith

Don't fancy many defensive points this week, double Arsenal mid, Afobe v Arsenal or Mahrez on my bench. Think it's a good side going forward

If Lukaku dosent play, who would you play out of:

    i) targett
    ii) stanislas
    iii) simpson

Or take a point hit for him

Any changes you would make to this team? 0 FT and 0.4 ITB

    Cech

    Dann Toby VVD

    Alli Payet Mahrez Silva Sanchez

    Kane Aguero

Bench (Henn, Deeney, Simpson & Wolly)

Your suggestions would be much appreciated.

I have two non-playing keepers and want to bring in a keeper this week who plays every week until wildcard. Would you choose:
    a) Forster
    b) Henn
    c) Butland
    d) Courtois
    e) other?

Forster or Butland. The latter has exceptional fixtures ahead, but there's more wind in the sails of the first.
