Our usual Saturday morning scour for a trio of overlooked Fantasy options brings Sunderland’s new playmaker to the fore. We also call upon Everton’s resurgent wide man and the Hammers’ lone striker ahead of very favourable encounters with West Brom and Norwich respectively.

Wahbi Khazri

Afforded his first start since teaming up with Sunderland in the January transfer window, Wahbi Khazri (6.0) proved the catalyst for their two-goal comeback at Anfield last Gameweek with a brace of assists. In the wake of Jeremain Lens’ hernia injury and the departure of Adam Johnson, there will be greater emphasis on the French-born Tunisian to showcase his creative flair, given that Johnson fashioned key passes (one every 42.1 minutes) at a much quicker rate than the rest of their midfield contingent.

Khazri is an unknown quantity on these shores, yet he was making waves in Ligue 1 prior to his switch, placing second – behind Angel Di Maria (10) – in term of assists (seven). Moreover, the ex-Bordeaux recruit had racked up the fifth-most key passes among midfielders in France’s top tier, rendering him a savvy addition to a Black Cats outfit that ranks second-bottom for chances created (192) this term.

Next on the Wearsiders’ agenda is a home clash against Manchester United. Although the Red Devils have proven impenetrable at times on home soil, it’s a different story altogether on their travels, with just a single shut-out in their last seven road trips. Furthermore, only Spurs (12) found the back of the net with greater regularity than Sam Allardyce’s troops (11) across the past six Gameweeks, boosting Khazri’s chances of kicking on from his Anfield display.

Enner Valencia

Everton and Man City both have blanks in Gameweek 27, which presents a dilemma for Fantasy managers in possession of Sergio Aguero and Romelu Lukaku. Although few will be willing to part with the former, many will considering Jamie Vardy (three in three) as a straight swap for the latter, given that Leicester City host Norwich City that weekend and are guaranteed a fixture in Gameweek 30 by virtue of their FA Cup exit. Sticking with this train of thought, Enner Valencia (5.9) – who’s notched four goals in five and enjoys a home encounter against Sunderland in Gameweek 27 – also courts our attention.

Over the last two Gameweeks, only Diego Costa mustered more attempts (10) than Valencia (nine), while he ranked joint-sixth for shots inside the box (five) and passes received in the final third (27). The Hammers as a unit racked up three more key passes (36) and one more attempt (43) than any team during that time frame, underlining the effectiveness of their supply lines.

Taking one step back from the Irons’ aforementioned home tie against a Black Cats side that rank top for goals conceded (49), they duel with Norwich City at Carrow Road this Gameweek. Valencia will certainly be savouring the opportunity to tackle a Canaries rearguard that shipped a whopping 13 goals over the last four Gameweeks and has allowed six more big chances (62) than any team throughout the season.

Aaron Lennon

Having not reached the five-goal mark since the 2008/09 campaign with Tottenham Hotspur, it’s fair to say that Aaron Lennon (5.6) isn’t renowned for his finishing prowess. Nonetheless, the diminutive winger is arguably enjoying the best attacking form of his career to date, with four goals and two assists arriving in his previous six starts across all competitions. As such, we’re intrigued by his short-term potential at the 5.6 mark.

Among the league’s full roster of midfielders, Gylfi Sigurdsson was the only man who mustered more shots on target (four) than Lennon (three) over the last two Gameweeks. The former Leeds United academy product profited from the fact that the Toffees ranked top of the league for big chances (eight) during that period, giving rise to the best goal haul (six).

Considering that the Merseysiders have generated momentum with back-to-back 3-0 victories, we’re confident in their ability to punish West Bromwich Albion at Goodison Park. Everton chart second – behind Manchester City (34) – with regards to goals scored on home turf (27), with no side able to match their 14.4% shot-conversion rate. In addition, the Baggies have recorded the joint-fewest clean sheets (two) since Gameweek 11, offering further hope that the Toffees’ supporting cast can trouble the scoreboard.

It'd be Ibe or Milner for Cout.. He just came back from injury n played in mid week, doubt he'll start Cout that is..

Ibe played 120, Cout played 59.

Also, Milner will start in the midfield three according to me, with Can and Henderson. But I could be wrong.

People getting Antonio in... is he not at risk if WHam play 4-3-3, and one of Moses/Antonio has to sit out? I'M assuming Payet and whoever is the striker (Caroll/Valencia) will be two of the three.

    Otherwise cracking next two games.

Ask Doos. In my opinion, Antonio hasn't blanked since December and Victor Moses still is who he has always... Antonio rolls on and Lanzini comes in soon too.

Yes, Lanzini returns to training next week, so I'm assuming he won't be a threat for this week and next week atleast, I was planning a Barry to Antonio with those two weeks in mind, so I might just keep Firmino beyond the blank.

        Sakho

Lanzini is a class act where as Antonio is a rough diamond. Emenike is merely making up the numbers.

Captain choice is tough this week.

Firmino - Plays bottom club but Liverpool on the road are very unpredictable and Villa Park has not been a happy hunting ground for them.

If this was at Anfield with happy Liverpool fans no longer feeling the need to walk out on 77 mins I'd be tempted to keep my armband on him. But it's not, so I won't.

Yeah. Then we have costa against new. Kun being kun and Antonio vs AVL.
      Hard to pick.

I am going Firmino over Lukaku only because i'll get to watch that game.. I have Kun n others as well but def n captain picks are only differentials we can have atm, for that firmino is a good pick..

Form/Fixture = PLUS, Liverpool = MINUS.. Evens it out.. Very good player technically, be fun to watch as captain.. Will feel the rush every time he'll have ball in final third, can very easily go solo n score vs Lescott n other villa defs..

I'll go Vardy.. On pens(probably) and no matter how good Alli's away form is, Lei as whole playing like champions n Vardy is their front man.. Long balls, Vardy's control, turning Gabr, outrun Kosc, beating Cech n GOAAAALLLL.. Cech's form should be your only concern...

I'm no aficionado but I remember reading a comment a few months back that Firmino was nothing without Coutinho, As I said, my understanding of that statement is a little limited to say the least but if it holds any merit then Firmino is in for a jolly good time.

Or was it the other was around? 😀

Oops. Pressed post comment by mistake.

Kane - Having a great season but away to City who need to win to get back in the title race. Considering that most people who have Kane will also have Aguero you'd imagine most people will plump for the home striker rather than the one on the road.

Lukaku - Coming up against an out of sorts Albion team who look to have lost all the defensive resilience that Tony Pulis clubs are known for. The problem with Lukaku as captain is that if he blanks you have to sit behind the sofa all day Sunday and hope Ozil, Sanchez and Aguero do nothing.

Ozil/Sanchez - Tough fixture against the now title favourites who suddenly can defend and shut out the top teams. Not a good week to be putting the hopes of your fantasy team on these two.

Aguero - Tough matchup but he should score. He may not go ballistic but a goal and some baps will gice you a decent double figure haul. Plus he's on last game of the GW so you don't have to spend a whole day wondering if whoever plays after Kun will get a monster score.

Considering his high ownership, most of who will be captaining him I think Aguero is the safest choice unless you're looking to punt to make up ground.

thanks. gives me some food for thought. Had been set on Payet (nor) because Villa at home have improved a bit. Towards the end of the season I have a lot of respect for the relegation battlers who show improved defensive form (or results even if stats show zilch). Might just switch to my Aguero blanket..

This courtesy of BBC. Note the third point specifically.

Norwich have lost their last five league matches and their last six in all competitions, conceding 19 goals.
Only Sunderland have a worse defensive record than Norwich, who have let in 48 goals in this season's Premier League.
Seventeen of those goals against have come from set-pieces - more than any other club.

These stats, the opposition, new contract everything points to one man called Dimitri Payet.

Randomly going to gamble on Barkley. WBA terrible as mentioned and defensive issues, sold lukaku last week and in last 6 games they have conceded 5 of 8 to midfielders.

He's on form, looking sharp and a bit of a captain differential.

Ighalo or Kane to start? After last week, i can see Man City player more defensive (especially with Kompany back), and keeping the ball away from Spurs (in theory). I have Alli so benching Kane wouldn't be that bad, but Spurs destroyed city earlier in the season.

As for captain, Kun, Payet, Firmino, Alli, Sanchez, Mahrez, Kane or Ighalo could all have a party today. Why doesn't this game get any easier?
