Were some rumours about getting to know when the City-Newcastle game would be played on the 10th of March.

If Tottenham win tonight and then (especially) again against Arsenal then I would have thought Wenger will start to think that his most likely source of silverware is the FA Cup. This being so he's more likely to field a strong side against Hull and make a blank GW30 more likely.

A lot of ifs but wodja say chaps?

    1. Pochecinno

He'll want to win the cup in any scenario

Of course he will, but will he put out a stronger side to ensure victory against Hull - that's what I'm asking.

        1. Pochecinno
          • 10 Years
          9 years, 11 months ago

And what I'm saying is that their league position won't effect how he puts out a side in the FA Cup. Expect a GW30 blank.

I still think he'll prioritise the league so will play a slightly weaker team in the cup regardless. The cup will not save him/them this season. Not winning the league will be seen as a massive failure

Sold sanchez to eriksen to afford ighalo to vardy yesterday, feeling stupid now. Özil had been my captain instead of vardy to if I had'nt gone through with the transfers. Gonna place a big bet on sanchez scoring now to ease the pain if he scores haha

Vardy came very close, it could have gone either way. I still wouldn't have sold Sanch this week, but hindsight is king.

Yeah really didnt wanna sell sanchez before swansea but needed money to get vardy, thought vardy would do well. Sanchez would go after swansea anyway so was long term thinking also. Didnt expect a blank from vardy though that stung

Huge upside. Great two fixtures, no blank and a double to come. Everyone will have Kun. I'd say avoiding them is missing a huge possible lift.

Hit and miss. Very inconsistent. None have done anything of note this season to be considered especially with all the good options still available to us. Just my opinion 🙂

Fair enough. I feel that Silva and YYT are strong options, especially with KDB out. However Iv blown it by selling Ozil to Sanchez a few weeks back, I might feel differently if I hadn't have done that.

I'm thinking along similar lines. But I wouldn't base it on tonight, Sterling is exactly the kind of player to follow up a load of blanks with a flat track bully hat trick.

A good option is the one which scores points when you have him not before you get him .

This anticipation is killing me. Just went to the hospital with the wife and they told her she needs to walk more and come back later on today. If giving birth to a baby stresses me this much, just cant imagine what it does to women.

Should be a dad in the next 48 hours. Kinda need to sort transfers out before since i will most likely be drunk until the weekend games.

It's amazing! You gotta be there and calm her down. Don't yell at the nurses. Definetely no alcohol for the next few months 😉 Enjoy the time - it's not coming back. As someone who became a father just 5 months ago, my most important advice for you:

Live this new life to its fullest. Don't try to live the life you had before, or focus on the parties you cannot go to, or the football you cannot watch - just dedicate yourself to your family and you will find true happiness.

Hope it all goes well. Play the stats; 99 % of child births go completely fine 🙂

Walking up and down stairs is meant to be good for speeding things up a little (or at least better than walking on a plain)

Guessing this is the first child? Ours took quite a while to come but as everyone else has said, it's an unbelievable feeling once it happens - good luck!

Yea, its the first child. She has been walking up and down the stairs a little bit last few days. We are friends with the main nurse at the hospital, so everything is being taken cared off in that regard. Just not forcing anything else.

Who do you think is more of a priority to get rid of, Cresswell or Moreno? One has to go for GW30.. Moreno to have better fixtures/DGWs in the future so better to keep?

    Butland
    Azpi, Williams, Cresswell, Simpson, Fonte
    Eriksen, Sanchez, Payet, Mahrez, Stanislas
    Kane, Aguero, Vardy

    A) Cresswell + Payet > Wimmer + Silva

    B) Creswell + Sanchez (if no GW30) > Any def + Silva

anything to be said for bringing in clichy. played 4 of last 5 for city. gets some good bonus points and always a threat for assists in last 3rd of pitch. 100 pts behind in mini league so thinking this could be worth a gamble.
can afford kompany as well which would be the safe option if he comes through their game tonight

Think I might go Hart (5.5m) as my City def. Only other I'd consider is Kompany (6.1m) and he seems a bit injury prone atm.

Otamendi (6.5m) too expensive, Demi & Manga no thanks.

Clichy, Sagna, Zabs & Kolarov or for a lot of rotation I'd suspect

What with effective ownerships, rival captains, MLs & H2H, the only player I want to do well today is Alli, and he might well be benched.

If he is and doesn't come on, then Wijnaldum.

Despite planning carefully to field 11 for GW27 and 30 without taking any hits, I'm now considering taking one. Would you:

    A) Bring in Kompany/Otamendi for Ward (this would force me to play 5-2-3 formation in GW30)
    B) Bring in Silva for Sanchez
    C) Both for -4 hit

The defenders look like a very good source of CS points for 4 of the next 5 weeks, but an attacking mid could bring big rewards, and i'll want a city attacker if Aguero is rested.

    1. The Tinkerman
      • 10 Years
      9 years, 11 months ago

FYI, my team: Forster, Hennessey; Fuchs, Toby, VVD, Cresswell, Ward; Sanchez, Mahrez, Payet, Firmino, Surman; Aguero, Kane, Vardy

    2. Mata-Is-The-Juan
      • 12 Years
      9 years, 11 months ago

      A. Kompany if he survives tonight unscathed.

Wait--- you can play 5-2-3? Am I reading that wrong as the '2' = the MIDs??

      1. The Tinkerman
        • 10 Years
        9 years, 11 months ago

Yeah, I was surprised to find out you can play just 2 mids, but you can.

Yeah I don't think i've ever played 5 at the back before GW27 this season, and very rarely have less than 4 in midfield.

    3. VS10_
      • 10 Years

B would be choice right now. You have decent defenders for next weekend. I'm looking at the same Silva move, but my defence is looking much worse in terms of fixtures next weekend.

      1. The Tinkerman
        • 10 Years
        9 years, 11 months ago

I think Silva is the best choice, I don't want to have just 2 mids for GW30 either. But I feel like a city defender could easily pay back the hit over the next 5.

      2. VS10_
        • 10 Years
        9 years, 11 months ago

Closer look and after that move you are still 2 players short of 11 for GW30, so maybe a hit for Kompany this week would be decent.

        1. The Tinkerman
          • 10 Years
          9 years, 11 months ago

Ah, that would be because I made an error up there, swap Cresswell for Smith of Bournemouth. I dropped Cresswell last GW for VVD. I could still field XI, just not a very good one.

          1. The Tinkerman
            • 10 Years
            9 years, 11 months ago

            For GW30:

Without hit XI: Forster; Fuchs, Toby, Smith, VVD; Silva, Mahrez, Eriksen; Aguero, Kane, Vardy (add Sanchez if arsenal lose to Hull)

With a hit: Forster; Fuchs, Toby, VVD, Kompany; Mahrez, Silva, Eriksen; Aguero, Kane, Vardy

In both cases I will transfer out Surman for Eriksen next GW.

Also, look at the games where City defenders got bps for a clean sheet. Otamendi 3, Kompany 2.

Schmeichel was rubbish for the first few weeks, moved to Myhill who was good at first then turned rubbish. Got in Butland a bit late and he got me 1 clean sheet in 9 games. Sold for Forster a couple of weeks ago who got a clean sheet first game and then 2 consecutive games he lets in complete howlers.

No keeper in history has even kept a clean sheet for months on end so wasn't expecting Forster to be superman but just to turn completely awful is just my luck, it's a complete joke.

Had about 5 clean sheets all season from goalies. What's the trick? Bring in Cech until the end of the season and ruin him?

I miss having Mannone in goal. Never had to bother with GK rotations and transfers.

Tough luck so far. Got Forster in after his 1st game back so I did get some of his CS points. Planning on sticking with him till the end of the season for what it's worth.

When money is tight at the start of the season, I generally just go for the cheapest playing keeper there is to free up funds elsewhere, and usually end up keeping him as have more pressing issues for my transfers.

Mirrors my season exactly ! Picking wrong goalies while watching others steadily reap points is just so frustrating. And changing goalie always seems to get second priority in any given GW - always thinking to do it next GW!

    Was Oviedo off injured?

are we expecting Baines to start?

Otherwise I was going to do

    Baines -> Kompany

    Costa -> Aguero

    but only have 1FT.

If Baines starts then I can wait the additional week.
