The next instalment in our “Talent” series for Members turns the spotlight on Chris Eagles. These articles focus on players whose recent fixtures have seen an upturn in Fantasy fortunes and, with 35 points since gameweek eight, the Trotters winger is ripe for analysis.

Using our own ICT Index and the Opta stats available, we sift through the data to determine just how much of an extra impact Eagles has made in recent games. With 3 goals and 1 assist over those four matches, he’s been the driving force behind a couple of wins that have lifted the Trotters off the foot of the table and sees them sit just three points off eleventh place.

Breaking down the campaign into two distinct parts, here’s a look at his performances compared to Martin Petrov on the flank for Owen Coyle’s side…

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Why all this interest in Westwood? Ok, so Mignolet is injured and Stoke have favorable fixtures, but Krul and Al Habsi look safer long term options to me.

I've just brought westwood in, and dont feel anything wrong with doing so, same could be said for all the love with drenthe respectively, i think westwood deserves a chance, and he more than proved himself at old trafford, without reading too much into that, he's strong, solid, and a good shot stopper, opinions will soon change when sunderland start keeping cleanie's or he racks up save points. Got him and proud 🙂

Sunderland's fixtures ar ejust awesome from a defensive point of view, and brown has served me very well. I'd like to have him on my WC, but figure I'll end up with Vorm.

Welbeck will keep starting while Rooney is started in midfield. That means they're playing defensively though and attacking potential whether Rooney or Welbeck will be limited.

Chelseas fixtures aren't great for next few. Maybe go for Adebayor rather than have Rooney & Hernandez?

Either M.Petrov to VdV. I already have Ade.

    or

M.Petrov to Lamps and J.Enrique to W.Brown for a hit.

    lost on last post:

If money was not an option would you:

    - Play Vorm every week and do Given to Ruddy to spend cash elsewhere
    OR
    - Given to Westwood to rotate with Vorm

Rotating Vorm and Given hasn’t worked me as I have benched all of Vorm’s clean sheets. What would you do?

The rest of Team is (am getting Drenthe this week):
    Given Vorm
Kompany BAE Enrique Simpson De Laet
    Dyer Silva VDV Walters Cabaye
    Rooney RVP Sturridge

Over the next few week I want to do:

        Cabaye-->Drenthe (this week)
        De Laet--->Wilko/McAuley/Gabbidon
        Given--->Westwood/Ruddy
        BAE--->Jones

I have 0.8 in bank so either Westwood or Ruddy will fit. Ruddy means I have 7.3 to spend on a sturridge replacement versus 6.9 for westwood. Not much difference there

Do Westwood/Vorm well? Or just play Vorm each week for save points?

Westwood and Vorm don't rotate well from GW14 onwards because they have the same home and away rotation. I wouldn't bother. I'm going to go Vorm and Howard from GW14 on and hope Everton's home fixtures bring in some clean sheets.

    RMWCT

    Howard, Vorm
    Kompany, Jones, Brown, Naylor, Wilkinson
    Silva, VDV, Drenthe, Sessengon, Formica
    RVP, Rooney, Graham

Howard and Vorm have good rotation up until the second wildcard.
I plan to play Kompany and Jones every week with one of the other defenders.
Then I will rotate Formica and Graham who have perfect home/away rotation up until the second wildcard.

Goalkeepers : 8/10 - Vorm a good choice. Howard does rotate well with him but Everton have only kept 1 clean sheet all year. Try Foster, Ruddy or Krul (He has awful fixtures though)

Defenders : 9/10 - Kompany, Brown Wilkinson, Naylor all good choices. The only thing I could say about Jones is that he could be a rotation risk at times. You could downgrade him to Enrique, Warnock or BAE and upgrade your midfield or forwards...

Midfielders : 9/10 - Silva and VDV are fantasy gold. Sess and Drenthe are great differentials. I, personally, don't like Formica because Blackburn have been awful this season. Consider Allen (If you get rid of Graham), O'Hara, Eagles or Pilkington

Forwards : 6/10 (8/10 if Rooney returns to a forward) - RVP = Fantasy gold. Rooney should only be considered when he's a forward coz he's a waste of 12m otherwise. Try upgrade Graham to Ba, Best or Morrison if you have the cash.

Out of interest, what's the biggest hit people have ever taken in a gameweek, and how did it turn out?

I took a 16 (yes that's sixteen) point hit last season, when I had a bit of an injury crisis. It turned out ok - I was down 5 points on the week itself (compared to if I hadn't done any of it), but definitely the improvments to my team made it worthwhile over the next few weeks. Not that I'm recommending ti as a general policy...!!

Mine is 12 I think, I took a 12 pointer a few weeks back to get rid of Jarvis/Fletcher/Arteta and one other for Silva/VDV/Adebayor and Ramsey in one foul swoop, only thing that did backfire was Arteta started performing as soon as I brought him out, worked in long run though.

Sometimes these things have to be done imo. Can be injuries, or just suddenly realising you got caught out and missed a few obvious choices earlier. Better to bite the bullet for one big hit than watch all your rivals pulling further ahead over three weeks. 12 by the way.

I hope so pal, we've suffered for too long. Was there not some stat that Scotland had like the 4th highest attendance at the Qualifiers behind England Spain Germany? We do have an obsecenly devoted fanbase considering we've had bugger-all to cheer about for over a decade.

I was too young to remember Euro 96 and didn't really appreciate the maginitude of being in a WC in France 98. I pray to God it's not too long before I get to see Scotland in a Major Championship again. I blame the break up of the USSR and Yugoslavia myself!

That stat is correct, wasn't too surprised because as you we are devoted to the (abliet hopeless) cause. I was only 12 at France '98 so i'm in the same boat. Its been a shame we've missed major tournaments in our prime years, but if we make it to Brazil i'll be there.

I've never thought of it like that, I too shall join that band wagon and blame the former USSR and Yugoslavia 🙂

Ok my transfers this week are as follows, team linked if u want to take a look

    Lopez > brown
    Given > Howard
    Agbon > bendy

4 point hit, have the exact money to do all three and agbon > bendy is a must to free up the funds

    What do u think?

Doubling up on Everton defence? Some would say that was mad, but I would agree. I'd put them as having best fixtures over the next 10 GWs, and I think they'll be under the radar, because as far as defence goes, most people look at defenders for goals scored.

Other transfers seem straight-forward too considering Sunderland's fixtures, and Agbonlahor's injury. So go ahead I say!

Cheers, yeah I know it's a bit mad but I can see it working in that made up imaginary world I create in my head... I can't believe I'm about to get two sunderland players in also but their fixtures look good and Lopez is dead wood and given has not been good to me this year

Ok I really wish Mancini would tell us who is playing up front this weekend.....

My Team at the moment is

    Westwood
    Enrique, Kompany, Wilkinson, Jagielka,
    VDV, Silva, Bale, Nani
    Dzeko, RVP.

    Ruddy, Graham, Dyer, Simpson

I was thinking of changing Dzeko to Aguero and downgrading Nani to any mid at 7.6m or less.

    Any Ideas what to do????

Anyone considering Rooney if he goes back upfront vs Swansea?

I'm thinking Rooney & RVP will make it tough to get Aguero in too, but City have Silva whereas United don't seem to have any rotation proof mids apart from perhaps Cleverley.

I'm thinking Rooney and I am keeping Rooney, international break will see a couple of guys back in midfield and I personally have no doubt that he will be back amongst the points, he has been playing really well, so it's not like a dip in form from him. It's only a matter of time too before United start firing on all cylinders again.

you have a good point. I could get Roo back in for Dzeko and downgrade Nani to 6.7m or less mid but Reckon Nani is due to explode soon as well as Rooney and Dzeko seems to score when he plays...

Dzeko/RVP/Rooney could work, but I'm just not a fan of players who keep being rotated.

Still - group stages finish soon so that may help.

sorry to say this but this is typical english talk. One decent game and scott parker is now a world class player.

He will be the key to our midfield in the euro's who will lead us to success. Then he will get pulled one way then another and ripped apart by Germany, Spain or Holland when it really matters and people will moan about him.

I have this team after using one of my two free transfers (Hennessey OUT Krul IN)

    Krul//Vorm
    Shawcross//Enrique//Warnock//Simpson//N.Taylor
    Silva//Eagles//Ramsey//VDV//Dyer
    Rooney//RVP//Adebayor

    0.0 in the bank.

    I can do:

    (A) Warnock OUT Brown IN
    (B) Ramsey OUT Drenthe IN (leaning towards this, Ramsey is assisting the assister week in, week out)

    (A) or (B)?

Would go with A just because Ramsey has a good chance of some good points within the next 3 weeks due to the fact he is playing quite high up with RVP so should get some assists or even goals. Give him another week especially against norwich and make the change in defence.
