Chris Brunt is one of those players that, more often than not, tends to frustrate as a Fantasy option. By the season end, he’s usually racked up a respectable tally (121 and 130pts in his two Premier League campaigns to date) but the Irishman has a habit of returning points when perhaps least expected.

The start of the season sums him up. The opening game saw Brunt pick up 7 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) points against Man United before going on to return a total of 6 points over his next four gameweeks, despite showdowns with the likes of Swansea and Norwich. It’s almost as if he demands a place in your starting XI week-in, week-out “just in case”, with the notion of form and fixtures typically thrown out the window.

There’s little doubt he has the potential. After eleven gameweeks, the West Brom man sits on 44 points, the same number as Mikel Arteta and Yaya Toure, more than Aaron Ramsey and Ramires, and just a single point behind Samir Nasri. At 5.8, he’s lower in cost than any of the aforementioned midfielders and clearly returns strong value for a mid-priced option- it’s perhaps a test of patience as to whether you can keep the faith when the scoring inevitably dries up.

Using our ICT Index and Opta stats available to members, we analyse his performances so far and, comparing them to last term, look to see just how he’s doing this time round for Roy Hodgson’s Baggies:

      Dunno, their fixture list looks pretty appealing until either gw 23 or 25.

      Chances of vdv staying fit???

      No the dilemma is when or do I get rid of the Adebaymonster?

      Tiote for Allen
      Suarez for Adebayor

      and depending on how many frees you have, Bale for VdV

        I dont think doing Bale to VDV is worth it imo. Altho VDV's fantasy value is more than Bale's, I dont think its worth wasting a trade and defo not a hit.

          Thanks for the comment. Currently have 1 transfer.

          I also think that currently not worth changing Bale to VDV because if I did that I have to downgrade the rest of the team.

          Thinking of:
          1)cleverly --> sessengon
          2) Downgrade a striker to get lampard
          3)stay.

          Which 1 do you think is the best.

    Really cannot see him scoring well over the next weeks. I got him when he was cheap so if he drops over the next few weeks and Brown rises then ill be able to buy back for little value loss.

    Is having an attack of

    Between Drenthe and Rodwell, ignoring cost entirely, what are the advantages/disadvantages?

    Is Drenthe on any set pieces? Is Rodwell a Gerrard-type, engine room who consistently gets involved in the attack? 'cause reading all the England articles, plenty of praise for Rodwell.

    What transfers to do so many possibilities...

    Schwarzer, Vorm
    Bosingwa, Enrique, Warnock, Simpson, Lescott
    Silva, VDV, Brunt, Dyer, Moses
    Suarez, Adebayor, RVP

    £.3M & 2 Free transfers. Wanna bring Larsson in for Moses next week. Thinking one of:

    1. Bosingwa -> Jones
    gw13. Lescott & Moses -> Brown & Larsson
    2. Lescott & Suarez -> Wilkinson/Barnett & Hernandez
    gw13 Moses -> Larsson
    3. Bosingwa & Warnock -> Brown & Hibbert/Ward/Wilkinson
    gw13 Moses -> Larsson

      dont do 1 as Bosingwa will likely play because he didn't play internationals. Warnock needs to go so maybe just sub him for Wilkinson. I would also think about getting rid of Lescott too as your defense is far to expensive, that could wait till next week though.

          Not really, I reckon if will be a few weeks before he gets suspended though. If I had Suarez I would hang on to him a little longer and free up a little cash to upgrade him to Rooney at some point

    Gents, First time poster so go easy. Been reading Site/Comments for a while from over here in Aus, big thanks to all who comment, especially the regulars. Been finding it very helpful over here, and gives an edge up on competitors in my mini-league. Currently sitting 3rd & around 50K overall!!

    Question, what are the odds Nani doesn't play/is rested? If he's likely to play, i'm planning Ruddy to Westwood. If not, may downgrade Nani to Sess & maybe upgrade Suarez to Rooney for hit.

    Thoughts appreciated!

      I wouldn't take a hit for Rooney just yet till we know for sure he will play up front and is on form. Sitting tight with Nani wouldn't be a bad idea as he will only miss one game or otherwise just downgrade him this weekend as your only transfer and see how Rooney goes against Swansea. I like the idea of swapping ruddy for westwood but it depends on whether you intend to start him this weekend.

        Thanks for the thoughts Ryan.
        It does seem a bit premature on Rooney, just don't want to miss the big haul of points that seems likely. May sit tight with Nani unless news arises of definate benching.

        Westwood would start ahead of Vorm this week if traded in!

        Cheers.

      Stick with Nani for this match as it's not obvious Rooney has a better chance of points in this current lineup, indeed the goals may have to come from midfield for now as they sort service to the forwards out. Nani was in form for Portugal, and with their injuries United don't have many other options apart from him.

    I never like having too much cash in the bank, looking to spend my 2.2m but not sure what my priority should be
    Vorm (Kenny)
    Enrique Kompany Wilkinson (Raylor, Gabbidon)
    VDV Silva Walters Eagles (Dyer)
    RVP Rooney Sturridge

    1) Walters to Arteta
    2) Sturridge to Dzeko
    3) Dyer to Drenthe
    4) trade down Rooney to get Lampard in

      1) Walters has really good fixtures ahead.
      2) Dzeko rotation risk, but could pay off.
      3) Solid move
      4) Personally I think Lampard is too expensive and we 'should' see Rooney back up front again bringing home the bacon.

      sometimes spending the most doesn't give you the most points.
      Your team looks good enough
      maybe wait and see how rooney performs
      if he does well, get Eagles out for maybe drenthe, think eagles might fade cause fixtures are not so easy ASV, TOT, EVE.
      Lampard, i don't know... haha

    How does my team look then for upcoming gameweek guys?

    Westwood (Ruddy)

    Enrique, BAE, Jones (N.Taylor, Simpson)

    Walters, VDV, Silva (v), Ramsey (Ferguson)

    Torres, RVP (c), Suarez

    Planning on upgrading Ferguson & downgrading Torres next GW, does anyone think Torres will play? Hopefully he might actually produce something before i say bye bye to him. Other than that, look OK?

    Thoughts much appreciated.

          Cheers lads. haha thats what i thought? i would never choose ruddy over westwood, sunderland are playing well recently with great fixtures ahead and norwich conceed in every single game, ok vorm is reasonable but swansea's clean sheets wont last, starting this weekend, i've brought westwood in as main keeper in replacement of given and think he'll do really well 🙂

          Seems like a lot of doubt. A -4 may be in order to ensure a full list runs out at the w/end. In which case the trades don't look so bad. Bendy's a gamble for me but may pay off!

    I went on holiday to dubai and came home to find I had been booted from my friends work league for crushing too hard. I joined in week 2 and paid £5 to be let in. None work players had been always allowed but I guess its only cool as long as we didn't win. Is there anything I can do to force them to let me back in? They booted 11 or so other players so they could justify booting me also.

      If you link your team, ppl will be only able to see last weeks score. If you clink on my link, you'll see that last week's score is shown and the no of transfers made this week. 😉
