Chris Brunt is one of those players that, more often than not, tends to frustrate as a Fantasy option. By the season end, he’s usually racked up a respectable tally (121 and 130pts in his two Premier League campaigns to date) but the Irishman has a habit of returning points when perhaps least expected.

The start of the season sums him up. The opening game saw Brunt pick up 7 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) points against Man United before going on to return a total of 6 points over his next four gameweeks, despite showdowns with the likes of Swansea and Norwich. It’s almost as if he demands a place in your starting XI week-in, week-out “just in caseâ€, with the notion of form and fixtures typically thrown out the window.

There’s little doubt he has the potential. After eleven gameweeks, the West Brom man sits on 44 points, the same number as Mikel Arteta and Yaya Toure, more than Aaron Ramsey and Ramires, and just a single point behind Samir Nasri. At 5.8, he’s lower in cost than any of the aforementioned midfielders and clearly returns strong value for a mid-priced option- it’s perhaps a test of patience as to whether you can keep the faith when the scoring inevitably dries up.

Using our ICT Index and Opta stats available to members, we analyse his performances so far and, comparing them to last term, look to see just how he’s doing this time round for Roy Hodgson’s Baggies:

😯 Does Oldham have a birdie song?

                written by: Harry Woods
(part of "The Jolson Story", and recorded by Al Jolson)
                - has also been recorded by Mandy Patinkin

                Chorus:
When the red, red Robin comes
Bob, bob bobbin' along, along ...
                There'll be no more sobbing
                When he starts throbbing
                His own sweet song.

Wake up, wake up, you sleepy head!
Get up, get up, get out of bed!
Cheer up, cheer up the sun is red -
Live, love, laugh and be happy!

                Chorus: etc.

                What if I've been blue,
                Now I'm walking through
                Fields of flowers ...

                Rain may glisten,
                But I still listen
                For hours and hours ...

                Chorus: etc.

                I'm just a kid again,
                Doing what I did again,
                Singing a song ...
When the red, red Robin comes
                Bob, bob bobbin' along.

    Vorm (Given)
    Wilkinson Evans Lescott (Gabbidon, Sinclair)
    Silva Ramsey Moses Sessegnon (Sinclair)
Suarez RVP Rooney bank:1.4, 2 freebies

My original plan was to downgrade Suarez to Sturridge and upgrade Ramsey to VdV.

Given the fact that Suarez just scored 4 and is up against a leaky Chelsea defence this move could turn out wrong. Man, it's so hard to get rid of your "big" players + VdV is slightly doubtful as well.
Second thought was to get rid of Evans as he won't play much, but if he plays the odd game in the next couple of weeks he might still outscore a possible replacement (ie. McAuley). Any suggestions?

    Morning guys

Current team for this gameweek will be

    Vorm (Krul)

    Kompany/Jones/Woodgate/Enrique (Simpson)

    Silva/Nani/Ramsey/VDV (Moses)

    RVP/Suarez (Graham)

I have 0 in the bank and thinking of a couple of transfers:

    A: Suarez --> Adebayor
B: Above + Moses --> Rodwell for 4 point hit

If I do B then I can play 3-5-3 and leave Enrique on the bench I guess, have him as first sub if Jones gets rested.

Whats your opinions? Or is there a more pressing transfer to be made?

    Cheers

I am quite envious of your defence! If I had Richards or Enrique I'd happily start them come hell or high water, they both offer enough attacking threat not to rely on cleanies. If Woodgate starts I think you're looking strong at the back this week.

Enrique has actually scored better away from home for Liverpool than at Anfield, which is quite peculiar for a defender but its true, check his stats...i'd be going with Enrique in your run on side personally, the stats say he will/should score some useful points for you..

Yep, only 4m I'm getting him this week instead of Enrique and then I've got enough to get Lampard. Bolton fans have been raving about him, if he plays well enough he'll keep Boyata out of the team when he's fit. Coyle has always said if you've got the shirt and you're playing well, you keep the shirt.

I've got 1 FT and 0 in the bank:

    Hennesey (Krul)
Wilkinson, P Jones, Enrique (De Laet, Simpson)
Moses, Silva, VDV, Nani (M Petrov)
    RVP, Sturridge, Suarez

I'm not sure whether to use my FT or not? I know that M Petrov needs to go and so does De Laet, most likely bring in McAuley for De Laet but unsure about who to bring in for Petrov, seems a lot of good options atm.

Should I just wait and do this next week as they are both on my bench this week anyway?

Who would you suggest for? I was going to go for someone like Joe Allen, therefore wait til next week and bring him in as I can't see him getting many points against Utd?

Also having seen what was said above, thinking getting rid of De Laet for Joe Riley might be worth it and would allow me to use him rather than Moses?

    Morning guys, rate RMWCT

    Vorm. Hennesey
    Jones, Enrique, Brown, Wilkinson, Simpson
    Lamps, VDV, Silva, Allen, BJohnson/(Moses)
    RVP, Hoillet, Dzeko

    thoughts i’m having are;
1)Downgrade Brown and get Vermaelen in for rotation threat Jones, but no unted coverage

2)Downgrade Jones or Enrique and get Sess/Drenthe/ Walters in for BJ + upgrade Hoilett to Bendy

3)Go all cheap at the back and get Rooney in for Dzeko

    any opinions appreciated,

I don't think Lamps is worth the cash, but this concept seemed to offend people yesterday so I won't go on about it. I like the defence as is, my worry would be it's difficult to get in another expensive (or even Ade/Suarez priced) striker without bottoming out your defence, but if you think Lampard is worth that then who am I to argue?

Don't get me wrong I know Lampard is good, he's been a stalwart in my team for many seasons, and if you were going to have Lampard and just one other expensive mid I think it can work - but I'd rather have Silva and VdV than Lampard, and having 3 really restricts your striking options. There are plenty of mids who cost half that much with more than half the points, if you set up the team as above then there's no slot for one of the many 6mil mids.

This might surprise you but when I do my transfers this week (Enrique for Riley, Suarea for Graham, Petrov for Lamps, got 2 FT's so taking a 4 point hit) I will have Lamps, VDV, Silva, and Nani in midfield! My defence is cheap but still decent - Saylor, Shawx, Turner, McAuley, Riley, and up front it is RVP, Agbon, and Graham. Not bad I say!

fair enough. I'm just going to try a big hitting midfield for a few weeks and see how it goes. If Drenthe, Sess, Brunt, Eagles, etc. outscore Lamps then it will be my own fault!

I prefer Wilks as a cheap option and Walker as a more expensive one. Wilks, ShwX and BAE don't provide much attacking threat and Stoke are probably a bit stronger at the back, if I was going to splash the extra cash I'd want some more attacking potential and for me that's Walker.

Going to downgrade Saurez this week. Also worth a -4 to go Petrov -> Drenthe?

Tony Hibbert? Yes or no? Everton fans PLEASE replay... is he nailed on as right back , or this run of 8 games as a starter was due to the some other defenders injuries?

i know they have concede goal every single gw, but nice run of games ahead, and i really feel that i need coverage (Bains way too expensive) i rather go for a Vidic next week to pair him with Hibbert and BAE/Woodgate.. Thanks for your concerne though 🙂 Cheers!

    RMT and potential transfers

    Begovic (Krul)

    Olsson Warnock Enrique (Rangel) (STaylor)

    Ramsey Milner Silva Mata (Larsson)

    Sturridge RVP Adebayor

    Warnock -> Everton defender
    Larsson -> Drenthe

Then would bench Sturridge this week, and transfer him out for Bendy next week

My wishful theory thinks so(Im an Evans owner as well) I think Ferdinand might be kept on the bench to keep him 200% fit for their most important CL game so far

Dont Forget Rio wasnt away with England so will likely start. Jones may miss out though through being rested. Evans/Vidic then for the other CB spot.

hahah Brunt stays, wel at least for a few GWs then can downgrade him to Allen/Dyer and upgrade Aguero tio Rooney 🙂

Was reading you dilemma up above about Vermaelen or Baines. I can'[t tell you what to do as either plan could work out and I wouldn't want to be held responsible 😉

HOWEVER I can say what I have done. Had the exact same problem myself, Vermaelen is sitting pretty at the top of that watchlist for Defenders and is extremely tempting but I have went Baines. His fixtures are better and he does have some set pieces and the DGW before the January WC. I also need to hold some cash back for a possible Aguero > Rooney switch, and it's looking like BAE is getting the chop.

As a I'm only wanting to play 3 at the back most/all weeks, I looked ahead at the next 6 weeks and there would only be two times I would like to play him in my back 3 so I may be able to just save money there. It's extremely risky though as I am relying on Wilkinson to start Stoke's games.

Thanks for this IT its worth knowing. I'm actually considering Vidic over Baines though. I want united coverage and he seems nailed on and is a great attacking threat. I'm sure i'l change my mind a million times before the deadline but they are thoughts at present.
