In spite of a five-match Gameweek, there’s still plenty to pore over in our first members’ article of the week. We cast an eye over City’s troubles on the road, Bournemouth’s upturn in output, Marko Arnautovic’s home comforts and the contrasting fortunes of Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy up front in recent matches.
What about WC33 TC34 BB37?
Haven't seen any people talking about it. Might see some more CS's for the extra defenders as teams begin to not have anything to play for. Also, more TC options GW34.Might be tricky getting 15 for 37.
just gotta load the bench with 4 Chelsea/Sunderland players.
meh
Gomes - Courtois
Smalling - Azpi - Bellerin - PvA - Sakho
Antonio - Coutinho - Firmino - Sanchez/Ozil - Barkley
Aguero - Lukaku - Ighalo/Deeney/Martial/Defoe
That's 13/15 for GW37 and I'm sure I can find 2 FTs to sort Bellerin and Sanchez/Ozil outand GW35?
Courtois
Azpi - PvA - Sakho
Coutinho - Firmino - Barkley - Sanchez/Ozil
Aguero - Defoe
9/10 out of 11 at the mo. (Depending on Defoe) Still needs planning but it's an alternativeBarkley may be a blank.
Oh yes true. Back to the drawing board, thanks TM.
yeah its an option, could keep mahrez and vardy on the bench for the 2 home games then sell them for dgwers
Why not WC in 36 in that case?
Because their team isn't set up well enough for gw34
Fair point.
You got it.
Is it suicide to go without Siggy this week...I need a few differentials in my ML...everyone has the same front eight. No one but me has Payet or Ozil this week so I'm thinking of taking a chance that Siggy won't hurt me too bad.
Far from it.
Not suicide, but I'd personally be worried without him in my team
@Balders. How does it feel knowing so many people on here are going to just nick your hard work and many may even score more than you?
People have been outscoring me ever since I joined 🙂
I envy your selflessness 🙂
They've also outscored me before I joined and will do after I've moved on, there's just too many people playing this game to realistically win it.
If you don't mind me asking, is there a reason other than hobby that you do so much FFS contribution? Are you in the field of stats/programming?
I've always been a big sports nerd and I'm a student with an engineering/programming background. Fantasy Sports really interests me as there's such high variance within the game a trying to tame it or take advantage of it and you're working with so many subjective inputs trying to maximise a really low count of goals (if you add it up I bet we've all had fewer than 100 goals in our fantasy teams this season).
Sounds like a good employee. Are you hiring?
Yes.
Job description: Help me get a high rank
Experience required: none

Note: You must possess a grav
It's just a game so making friends/helping the community is more fun .. but I'm not balders
I think I would rather Kane than a DGW Robdon / Ighalo etc
Ighalo's 4.3 cheaper and has 2 DGWs.
If you've got a spare 4m go for it.
yeah agreed, or a mahrez instead of dgw shelvey !
a) Targett to Williams (to play over VVD)
b) Vardy to Lukaku/DefoeRP btm. Wijnaldum or payet this week?
Payet
Payet has the form and Chelsea don't have much to play for anymore.
Butland (Hennessey)
Toby, Ivanovic, Fuchs (Koscielny, Smith)
Mahrez, Ozil, Alli, Siggy (Richie)
Kane, Kun, Vardy
What to do? £3.3m ITB with 1FT
1) Richie to Firmino
2) Koscielny to Williams
3) Save
4) Smith to Williams
5) Something elseKompany to Williams? Yes or no?
Definitely yes if you're WCing in 33
I might punt a Chelsea defender for the next few games.
Ivanovic
Why not? Kompany worked for the last 2. #oldschooldefs
How's this for a draft wildcard team?
Cech/Elliott
Simpson, Targett, Otamendi, Collins, Bellerin
Firminho, Ozil, Payet, Yaya, Lingard
Lukaku, Vardy, Aguero,
Exact funds for this. Don't have bench boost so will happily keep 2 Leicester for week after, only Payet, Lukaku and Lingard have blanks in 35, so save then and get 2 Spurs in for 36.
Thoughts anyone?I'm not sure about Vardy or Lingard. Is Otamendi fit?
Apparently only a knock. Lingard is a great enabler tho
Sorry chaps....been out of country a few days...
R we still looking at wildcard gw33 and benchboost gw34 as a good option?
Thank sYep. Some are thinking differently but my planning for a GW34 bench boost looks too good to be true.
Hot topic has lots of views.
Thats the popular choice. Seems the easiest and safest option
Nice one....will get stuck in over next few days!. Too much for my head now!
Costa and Cabaye > Kane and Siggy in UFPL.....That was easy to decide.
Kane may play Thursday.
You can cancel loans for UFPL and do new ones at any time. Just keep playing around with them all week really if you want.
Fair enough. The game that rewards bad scores by replacing them. 😛
I rather think the idea of the game is to ensure you can do just that by doing a lot of planning.
People are flat out planning for 34, 35 and 37 on here.
Do you not think the same applies to UFPL ?
Maybe more so hence plenty not being good at UFPL and only 1000 or so actually playing properly if that.
That's a really good game mechanic, sadly it would get abused in FPL because of the price change system.
Crystal Palace currently 8pts off the drop, their remaining fixtures should have fans worried.
LEI, whu, NOR, ars, mun, new, STK, EVE, sou
Think they could go down?I hope not. I really like Palace...
three tough away games in a row!
I know, it doesn't look good. They should be ok though...JUST.
So do I
That Norwich game will be key otherwise it could be a very nervous finish to the season
Can easily see 4 losses in the next 5
You right the Norwich game is key and also away to Newcastle.
No, they need two teams from below them to overtake them. If they were 8 points clear but in 17th then I might be worried for them.
Nope. The points gap is huge
Anyone but my beloved Toon
If you were the owner of a relegation fighting team playing against a mid table team what's wrong with making a gentleman's agreement so that both teams end up financially better off
A huge breach of sporting ethics.
Yeah but £££££££. As an owner it can be tempting. The sporting ethics could be for another time
nothing more than personal integrity...
That's called Match Fixing.
Is Kompany definitely gonna be out?
I widened the range on my imposter table to 6 GWs and we have some DGWers who are potentially misleading bandwagons...
http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/my-stats-tables/view/11432/
Many here will be punting on a few of these, I'm sure 😕'tis the season to be punty
I might have suggested triple captaining one of those earlier 😯
One of them makes up for it with chances created 🙂
And [redacted] gave unto his people shooting opportunities for all.
http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/public-stats-tables/view/13752/
PS if switch "my" for "public" in the URL, people can vote for this table.
I usually do that, just forgot. Thanks 🙂
Is there a doctor present? We need to perform an emergency calf transplant.
We?
You can wait outside if you're squeamish
Bit of a bugger init. Not particularly excited about selling Kompany this week. I don't even need him with Ivanovic stepping up from the bench.
Yeah, can also replace, but it's "finally a successful transfer in", but then *crock*... again. Third time I've had him this season.
Its rubbish aye. I know what you mean, you stumble across some gold then its gone as quickly as it arrived.
- All Quiet on the GWK 36 Wildcard Front
Its all gone very quiet on the alternative option 'WC GW36 BB GW37'
Why is this?I was planning on wc 36 but just too much choice in 34. Plus it means I can use my 2 ft this week for this week and also all my ML will prob wc 33 s safer choice
I'm coming round to this way of thinking too
More choice in 34? is this true with the blanks?
I think it is
No Chelsea DGW in 34 is part of it.
Why is that a bad thing? more DGW options for GW37?
Less options in 34.
With less options in 34 then it seems its better to BB in 37 when there is more options?
Not everyone is lined up for 11 DGWers in 34 without a WC.
or hits
That is a fair point, but what if you were?
LateRiser can get 10 and is thinking which one.
Chris On Accounting can get 11 and will probably 33.
I'd rather the points in the hand and perhaps take a hit if needed later on.Its what everyone else will do though TM. Is it not better to hope that 34BB is a failure and 37 proves to be the best option? You'd be in the winning minority and it will mean a much bigger boost in OR
A classic Aguero vs Kane scenario re-enacted over the remainder of the season.
Being different only gets you so far. Imagine Kane (2) and Aguero(13) last week. You'd have a week off.
Yeah but thats risk taking for you TM. I might be prepared to throw everyone forward and ignore defence in the hope of getting the winning goal.
Only one way to find out.
The opposite equals a massive drop.
You'll also be dropping players from Arsenal in 36/38 for example. And in 34/35 you'll be dropping Lei/Tot players with plum matches - swings and roundabouts 🙂
Lei vs WH is plum?
Stoke vs Spurs?
GW35 is much better for both tbf.Whatevs - you do your thing I'll do mine
😀
Bad planning on my part doesn't give me your option.
Chelsea will be at the beach by then.
Saving it for a community article 😉
Are you still sticking to the idea?
Honestly I'm still weighing it up but I am considering it very seriously. Ozil TC in 34 could be 54 points from just two assists.
What about Lukaku with two goals as a TC in 37? whats the difference? Everton may even have a TGW
If Everton in Cup Final, Lukaku will be rested
Should still manage 200mins over 3 games I'd imagine. Better than most DGWers
Nobody at Middlesbrough managed more than 180 minutes in their TGW. Because of the way the dgw is laid out (Saturday & Wednesday) the TGW would be Saturday/Monday/Wednesday which is horrible.
It is but we don't know how Everton will handle it. Lukaku has started every game this season. He won't get less than 180mins over 3 games. There aren't any good striker alternatives at Everton.
The new guy would get a game at least.
It just seems a bit of a waste to not TC a guy with a TGW. Just playing the odds here. They are 'at least' as good as a TC on a DGWer
TGW is overrated. Even the GK will probably get a game off.
It might be overated but its 'at least' as good as a DGW which is good enough I think. The possibility of it being better than a DGW is the prize.
personally I think GW37 is too flakey
Why? No long term agenda afterwards so a team of punts can work out fine.
Getting 15 players to play ~150 minutes each will be tricky at the end of the season especially if they've got a cup final to worry about.
So is a greater likelihood of rotation the deciding factor against a BB37?
It may be. GreenWindmill showed mid-table teams rotate more in gw37 than gw34 so that could be problems for all of United, West Ham, Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool and Watford.
I understand that. However can we afford to trust our own judgement when it comes to picking a lower percentage of nailed on players to chose from? Perhaps we can? and perhaps the tight nature of this PL season will afford us more nailed on players than usual do to teams competing right up to the end of GW37 instead of going on an early holiday.
I think we could trust our judgement to an extent and I think there will be indications from the managers on who will play which games/how many minutes but it could be a really reduced pool of players to choose from.
Even a reduced pool won't necessarily be a bad thing as you'd be differentiating yourself from those who did the 34BB. This week with only 5 games we were still able to get high scores. A reduced pool doesn't mean reduced points.
Thats a good argument tbh
cup semi finals/CL/EL don't worry you?
The issue is that the managers will also be very punty at this time -- not wanting to get injured before the big tournament, youngsters getting some starts, etc -- so less chance of getting your money's worth. Or at least that's the concern.
*players not wanting to get injured
Would it be possible to focus on teams still with something to play for? its a very tight PL season so far and maybe there will be less mid table early holidays to account for. An Everton TGW could also negate a sub appearance.
There will be huge rotation if a TGW even happens
Of course but they'd still manage a lot of minutes compared to a DGW with similar rotation issues.
That could work I guess. But why hold it off?
Differential
Could work. One final flutter to shake off rivals?
I'm a long way back in the overall rankings and I'm not happy about it. I'm very interested in 'throwing the kitchen sink at it' so to speak
anecdotal, and you're not going to like it, but i've thrown at least some cutlery my OR at the end of the last seasons, and both time it just buried me deeper 😛
todo list for next season:
- get spell checker
- get the old emoticons back (hiring hackers from china)Yeah, I believe it can work both ways. Jinswick did well to challenge the overall title last season by going hell for leather at the end with differentials.
focusing on fighting team probably !! Remember Pva/Panti last season
The prospect an Everton TGW...
I think this is my main reasoning. The prospect of an Everton TGW means its easily the best time to TC. However this fixture hasn't been announced yet so I have to with hold my plans until it is.
My money is on another DGW in 36 - played on a Monday so no CL issues
That would be really inconvenient as it doesn't solve the 35 issue either.
I'm probably going to do this - differential 🙂
I like your thinking. I just wish I could see some solid reasoning for the idea. It hasn't really been talked about much in depth since the announcement. It seems a really unpopular idea now.
I can get a good looking 10 for GW34 and a very good looking 11 for GW35 without any hits. Plus, If I aim for this and it goes Pete Tong over the next couple of weeks with injuries etc, I can just WC in 33 instead with no skin off my nose.
YW
Seems like you are perfectly positioned to go for a GW37BB. It'd be foolish not to give it serious thought.
I can go either way at this point tbh im not bothered by the thought of a hit or two if needed to prepare especially when considering the points available to us with these doubles.. the fixtures appeal to me more in 34 but a lot of those teams i would be loading heavily on don't have the greatest of fixtures in 33 a point which has been missed i feel..
Very Valid. I have considered a GW32 WC to make up for the 33 fixtures but I'm not sure if I'd be any better off. I think more thought needs to be put into considering the merits of a 37BB and not just following what the crowd is doing. Hopefully some articles and hot topics during the week can shed more light on the merits of a 37BB
Im gunna save my FT this week all being well and make 3 moves for a hit gw32.. another hit in 33 and 34 wouldn't bother me in the slightest and give me 11 for the DGW.. Il likely decide around that time which way il go.. its far from a cut and dried situation
I'm leaning toward the late wildcard myself. TC on Sanchez in wk34.
Thats a good TC choice I think. The mans due to come back into form. Could be a very popular idea closer to GW34 if his form improves. Could be too late for many if they've already made their BB plans.
leaning towards the late wildcard and BB also. I like the idea of being able to take risky BB punts and only have them on your team for only one more GW. That, and I can keep a few Mahrez, Kane and Alli for maybe one last hurrah on gw 35 when many might have dropped because of blank or 33 WC
This is my plan still. I really think ditching Spurs and Leicester assets will punish a lot of people on higher with their silly high ownerships
on here*
I'm actually in a position I could get 9 out in 34 without hits. I have 2FT currently.
However, I've done an "ideal" line-up for both weeks and the 34 one just looks so much stronger on paper. I could not confidently pick 3 players from any team with a DGW in 37.
On the flip side, Leicester and Spurs have reasonable enough single fixtures in 34 & 35 that it seems wrong to go without them.
Perhaps wildcarding 15 DGWers isn't the way to go in either week? I don't know...Maybe off-topic, but I'll bring it up anyway.
If you're someone like me, without the BB chip left, what's a better strategy:
a) leave it late, WC in 36 and TC in 37?
b) mimic your rivals and WC in 34 (I'll probably have some advantage in 33)?
c) get a decent squad for 34 without WC, use TC as a 'cushion' for the possible gap and hope the SGW'ers kick ass (save TC for 37)?
Another "Bio Banding" tournament announced by the PL this week. They're going big on this.
Good, its the right thing to do.
Yeah...for sure. Coming to a town near you soon.
West Ham by any chance? I know Southampton started it off last season but not really seen much more about it.
It'll be everywhere soon.
If I was Kompany I think I'd start focusing on getting and staying fit for Belgium, and write the City season off. Country before club, no?
I think as a professional you have to be fully committed to both club and country.. its his club pays his wages after all
But what if he couldn't be committed to both? Say the team playing him risks him not showing up for the national side. As a fellow countryman, could he let his nation down on the pitch? I think the question of what constitutes professionalism is a subjective one.
A club in this situation are looking out for number one themselves i reckon both by making sure he's fit and ready to play every game he's needed.. i mean tbh they don't give a toss if he goes to the euros or not in fact they would probably prefer he had the summer off although they would never admit it.. being captain for club and country im sure Kompany is fully comitted to both
I'm not talking about the what the club wants. But more importantly, in this case being committed to one means not being fully committed to the other. As playing club games too early means a very high risk of losing out on the European Championship.
So you think he should play asap, possibly playing through pain?No i think he should get himself fit and ready to play again and once he is then he plays for whoever asks him to
The thing is City might not want to wait until he's 100%. Say they are playing for a CL spot. Should Kompany play and risk the Euros just to slightly increase City's chances of getting the spot? Tough call if he's not fully fit and risk ripping up that calf again.
Is what I'm saying. Anyway, we'll just have to wait and see I guess 🙂He tends not to recover from these lay offs very quickly i think we may have seen the last of him this season tbh
Alright lads.
I'm 2k in the world trying to break through into that top 1k.
Fabianski
Alderverwield Morgan sagna (targett, ward)
Mahrez Ali Ozil Payet Sigurdson(c)
Kane Aguero (vardy)
Am I making the right decisions here to captain Sigurdson and bench vardy?Looks good. Vardy could hurt you but then again Lei haven't really been firing in recent weeks
I have exactly the same midfield, assuming I get Siggy in for Arnie.
I was genuinely thinking of benching Aguero this week. Would even love to double up on West Ham with Antonio but I just can't do it. I think Palace are terrible and will leak at least 2 goals.
Mahrez is currently my captain but may change to Siggy when he comes in.The best answer I can give is: you never really know with these things...
For those still thinking investment in the City defence is worth it, check out how they fare without Kompany here:
http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11679/10206622/stats-highlight-vincent-kompany-injury-problem-for-manchester-city
13 games with him and 6 goals conceded
16 games without and 25 goals concededabsolute horror show without Komp
Planning sorted time for a coffee break
Was set on saving a FT for the GW post Internationals but Mr Kompany has gone & done his calf again...
What's best to do?
A) Save & play Azpi
B) Cash in & bring in: Williams / Bellerin / OtherWon't go near an arsenal defender at the moment. Williams looks a good shout. He gets bonus all the time aswell
A
people can discuss here whole day but none of us can make a dicision until full fixtures are out : D
Would you wc 33 for BB 34 or wc 32 so you have 2 FT for 35?
If you WC33 you will have 2 FT for 35
because I'm slightly numb in the head, of course you do, silly me.
If you WC32 you can make 1ft in 34 and still have two for 35
You get 2 FTs in 35 regardless.
oops
The advantage of 32 is you get a 'floating transfer' which you could use if you 'need' to make a transfer before the DGW. Injuries or unexpected issues could then be accounted for.
The other advantage (is it really an advantage?) is you could cash in on the earlier round of fixtures if they work out to be better than your existing squad.Your posts are making me consider 37 again. I'll have to wait and see. I think I need to log off, do some work and remove fpl form my head for the evening. Thanks for your input :).
What do folk think about the moves by the PL towards "Bio banding"...Good for the game ?
Going to drop one of my spurs mids, have both Alli and Eriksen. Which one would you drop, and why?
Eriksen is due and Alli has the ownership.
Depends if you trust the Eriksen trolling to stop.
EL may give a clue.Good point, no point being hasty. Just too eager to make a transfer
Eriksen, releases funds, Alli still a handy 5th mid option if you WC in 36. Can just bench him in 34 if you get 10/11 doublers. Good fixture in 35 too.
I've swung to wc 33. Tough choices.
Same, but keeping Alli for now at least keeps 36 open
Alli is last years Chadli, hold for goals and price
You may be right
I would lose Erik
Any thoughts / advice on my team for GW31 please:
Fabianski
Fuchs VVD Toby
Ozil Mahrez Alli Payet
Kane (c) Vardy Aguero
Subs: Butland Ivan King Kompany
1 FT, $1.1m ITB (no WC)
Any suggested changes or transfers please? With DGWs in mind...
ThxSave for now.
Thanks TM
Kompany's injury has thrown my plans completely, was going to WC 36 for 37 etc.
But now i think i have to WC in 33, use BB,
use following trades to get in dgw players for 37 and use TC.
Anyone else thinking the same? Most have that pattern.
+1. Kompany out makes WC 33 more tempting. Now I will have to take a hit starting 11 DGW players.
