We pop out to the Weekly Shop for our final Wednesday article, as we analyse the player lists of our partner games to highlight the likely targets that will make up our own weekly squads.

As per usual, the player analysis is split into two sections: I’ll break down the key targets that no squad can do without in “Better Buys”, before seeking out those one-shot “Poundstretcher” prospects that can provide us points, whilst freeing up funds.

For this week’s selection, we’re focusing on the FantasyBet and DraftKing player lists.

Better Buys

Given that Crystal Palace have lost their last five consecutive home matches, conceding 12 goals in the process, they face a tough task to halt Leicester City’s charge for the title as the league leaders visit Selhurst Park this weekend. Against Newcastle, Kasper Schmeichel (FantasyBet 4.5m, Draftkings $4,000) kept a third clean sheet in four league outings, while investment in the usual outfield assets also looks set to continue returning points.

Craig Dawson (FantasyBet 5m, Draftkings $4,200) is expected to be fit for West Brom’s encounter with Norwich City as he looks to add to his three-goal haul this season. If the right-back misses out, though, Jonas Olsson (FantasyBet 4m, Draftkings $2,200) or Gareth McCauley (FantasyBet 5m, Draftkings $2,100) could be worth considering. Alex Neil’s side are struggling for goals, having failed to net in five of their last seven matches, so clean sheet points look on the cards for the Baggies’ rearguard.

Swansea may have fallen to defeat to in-form Bournemouth but Francesco Guidolin has overseen a revival in the Welsh side’s fortunes of late, picking up back-to-back wins prior to the encounter at Dean Court. A home tie with basement-dwellers Aston Villa is a promising opportunity for the Swans to distance themselves from a relegation scrap and they offer us strong options at either end of the pitch. Ashley Williams (FantasyBet 4.5m) has been the stand-out defender, picking up 20 points from seven clean sheets, whilst Gylfi Sigurdsson (FantasyBet 7m) has been the main goal threat, scoring seven times in 11 appearances since the turn of the year.

Harry Kane’s (FantasyBet 9.5m) season appears to be on an upward trajectory as Spurs head into the run-in with a chance of silverware. The forward’s double against Aston Villa leaves him one strike short of the 20-goal mark ahead of a home clash with a Bournemouth outfit that’s kept only three clean sheets on their travels. Encouragingly, Kane has produced double the number of shots on target than Sergio Aguero (12 to six) over their respective last four matches.

Poundstretchers

Watford’s win over Arsenal in the FA cup could kick-start their league form after a recent run of inconsistent displays. Considering that eight of the Hornets’ ten shut-outs this campaign have arrived at Vicarage Road, Heurelho Gomes (FantasyBet 4.5m, Draftkings $3,800) and his backline clearly prefer home comforts, and the visit of a Stoke side that have blanked in half of their last eight away ties bodes well for the Brazilian shot-stopper.

Kevin Wimmer (FantasyBet 4.5m) makes another appearance in the bargain picks – the defender helped Spurs to a first clean sheet in five at Villa Park and remains a budget route into the meanest defence in the division. Eric Lamela (FantasyBet 6.5m) may not have the allure of more obvious picks such as Dele Alli (FantasyBet 5m) and Christian Eriksen (FantasyBet 8.5m) but the Argentine is quietly having a productive season with three goals and five assists tallied so far. Over the last six, he’s recorded far more shots in the box (12) than Eriksen (five) and Alli three), despite registering less pitch time ahead of the home clash against Bournemouth.

Rafa Benitez’s appointment should make the Tyne-Wear Derby an even more compelling clash, with both clubs’ top-flight status hanging in the balance. Jermain Defoe (FantasyBet 5m) picked up an eleventh goal of the term to secure a valuable point for the Black Cats at Southampton – the veteran forward has scored five of Sunderland’s last seven away goals and appears the most likely to dent Newcastle’s hopes. Wahbi Khazri (FantasyBet 6m) also continues to impress – a total of 39 crosses, 14 chances created and 11 attempts on goal over six appearances suggests further points are incoming if he can shrug off a knock.

We now turn to a pair of assets from a West Brom attack that has been surprisingly prolific of late. Midfielder Craig Gardner (FantasyBet 5m, Draftkings $4,200) has scored twice and served up an assist over the last three, while forward Salomon Rondon (FantasyBet 6.5m, Draftkings $4,200) has recorded four goals and an assist in five starts for the Baggies. Both could prove good value with opponents Norwich yet to keep a shut-out in 15 away ties.

Diego Costa’s two-match suspension brings Bertrand Traore (FantasyBet 5m, Draftkings $3,300) into our thinking once again. The youngster was on the bench for the weekend defeat to Everton but having scored four goals and picked up an assist over five outings in the league and FA Cup for the Blues, he could be poised to lead the line as West Ham visit Stamford Bridge.

These are the contenders for my weekly contest lineups heading into the midweek fixtures. Tomorrow I’ll also bring you up to date on my progress in FantasyBet, as I continue my quest for profit in the 2015/16 campaign.

From what I've seen and know of Klopp, he always seems up for going out to win pretty much every game. Martinez and Everton are more of a concern, I agree.

I am thinking of keeping 3 SGW players for gw 34 in the likes of Mahrez, Kane and one more, possibly Huth. Not sure yet.

I've been doing this wrong... Some people find comfort in staying with the herd, and that's fine, but I need to be out there roaming on my own. Enough of the Aguero Kane Vardy, Ozil Mahrez Siggy Alli, etc etc etc......

      Kane ➡ Lukaku(C) DONE

Bournemouth can be pretty tight away from home, it could be a closer game than it looks. Lukaku, on the other hand, is bang in form, looking unstoppable, and against a questionable defence. Loves a big game too. Who am I kidding... there's no reasoning, it's a gut feeling 😀

Apologies if this has been covered before - just wondering about the benefits of using WC for week 32... lots of DGW clubs have decent fixtures in week 32 and reasonable for wk 33
Benefits: avail of cheaper players and benefit hugely from price rises
Disadvantages: gives rivals a chance to see your moves, possibility of injuries

Not worried about rivals tbh. The benefits far outweigh anything else. Great fixtures for the most part and cashing in on price rises before it all goes crazy in GW33. The floating transfer could be used strategically as well.

Liverpool DGW - A forehead perspective.

With 2 DGW, and a game in GW35, LFC players are close to must haves.

    Defenders.

Mignolet, Clyne, Sakho - nailed. Clyne has been rested once or twice (Palace as an example) but that's been down to him playing too many games. Sakho has played every game when fit. Mignolet as bad as he is, is as good as De Gea in comparison to Bogdan.
Lovren, Moreno - nearly nailed. Lovren has improved recently and is in the side as things stand. Moreno has played despite the criticism but with Flanagan and co lurking, he isn't 100% sure to start.
    Skrtel, Toure, Flanagan - avoid.

    Midfielders.

Firmino - something close to 'essential'. Most G+A in 2016 in FPL, and definitely a viable (C)/(TC) option. Nailed, and can play false 9 if Sturridge/Origi aren't up to much.
Coutinho - not my FPL cup of tea. Inconsistent points but is capable of back to back explosions. Nailed, although he has been rested recently like Clyne.
Milner, Lallana - dependent upon the formation, 1 is definitely in the team. Milner is the ultimate dullard pick and Lallana, like Coutinho, isn't my FPL cup of tea. At all.
Henderson, Can - nailed, but not enough points for me.

    Strikers.

Origi - punty but could pay off. Wouldn't expect him to start both games but we'll have a clearer idea in GW33. He has impressed recently and Klopp hasn't been afraid to start him in big games.
    Benteke - avoid.

I've missed someone out, eh? I'll post about that fella during the GW33 WC. He could be the difference to our FPL seasons, and I'm certainly preparing a Sturridge WC team.

My top picks: One of Migs/Sakho, Firmino, a walking Sturridge.
My 2nd string picks: Lovren, Milner.

Made a rod for his own back which went beyond the point of no return in the end. A massive shame as is obviously a really intelligent bloke - just needed a slight (not major) attitude readjustment.

Maybe he'll return. These types of websites do get heated, regardless if they're about fpl, politics or knitting!

Doubt it. For a finish, he couldn't say Good Morning without the usual suspects pointing out that it was night in some parts of the world and not Good for some.

Those not keen on 15DGW players, which SGW players are you keeping? For me it's Mahrez and Kane and maybe 1 other.

Mahrez, Fuchs and one of Alli/Kane - going six games w/o the best attack in the league is crazy imo

First time looking at a WC draft and it's fairly tough navigating the blanks. What I came up with so far is that we pretty much need Triple Arsenal and Liverpool. If you want Payet or Lukaku, then triple United will be impossible while trying to field 11 in GW35.

This is what I got after first draft for using BB is:

[note: Deeney may be Rashford if he's nailed on]

    DDG**/ Elliot
    Olsson/ Rojo**/ Sakho/ Simpson/ Janmaat
    Ozil/ Sanchez/ Payet**/ Firmino/ Mahrez
    Deeney**/ Lukaku**/ Aguero

    ** blanks

I will probably play 4-5-1 in GW35, benching Deeney/ Lukaku since they have good GW36 fixtures (and Lukaku with another DGW)

Payet will be swapped out for Willian in GW35, considering he has a few okay fixtures before his DGW
Then Mahrez and Simpson will become Payet and a Watford defender ahead of the final DGW.

Strikers that have a DGW and play GW35 are few and far between, I'm currently on Kun and Rondon, playing in a 4-4-2, I would like Costa as well but can't afford him.

    GW33 WC

SV103.1 (not a lot of room to work with)

    Thoughts on this team?
    Defense too weak?
    Crazy not to have Payet?
    Midfield too dependent on ARS/LIV?

    DDG/Elliot
Kosc Moreno Olsson (WBA) Ogbonna Clichy (if nailed)
    Alexis Ozil Firmino Milner Lingard
    Aguero Lukaku Rondon

    Bit confused over my bench

    Fabianski

    Williams Toby Fuchs (Bertrand Targett)

    Siggy Wij Alli Mahrez (Ozil)

    Aguero Vardy Kane (C)

    50/50 on Bertrand & Ozil > Williams & Vardy / Maherz

Anyone thought about tripling on UTD defence? DDG, Smalling, Rojo...

Kinda new to Fantasy so I messed up and used my WC a few weeks back when my team was a wreck. Turns out I should've kept it for this DGW that I'm hearing about, this i what my team looks like currently:

    GK: Forster, Lloris
Def: Fuchs, VVD, Williams, Daniels, Wolly
Mid: Ozil, Lingard, Alli, Arno, Mahrez
    Str: Vardy, Kane, Aguero

I've got only 3 players with a DGW34 and none in DGW37. I got 2FT atm so I can bring in max of 5 DGW players before the dreaded DGW34.

I've earmarked Firmino, Sakho, Sanchez, Rondon and Payet as pretty essential players to bring in.
Who do you think I should lose from my team over the coming weeks to fit these players in?

    Robles - Darlow
    Bellerin - Gabriel - Sakho - Rojo - Delaney
    Sanchez - KdB - Payet - Coutinho - Barkley
    Aguero - Lukaku - Mitrovic

    RMWCT please
