Many of the community’s double Gameweek plans were being hastily rewritten as a result of the red-hot form shown by the likes of Harry Kane and Riyad Mahrez. Our hot topic posters chart their u-turns and second thoughts over the potential use of Fantasy Premier League chips and wildcards, while our community articles section turns its attention to the most consistent and explosive captaincy options. Rafa Benitez’s revolution at Newcastle comes under the spotlight in our Members tables and we also reveal who are leading the way in our community leagues.

The Community Articles

Captaincy candidates for the impending double Gameweeks came under the watchful eye of TM245 this week. His analysis of the best midfield and forward candidates for the triple captaincy chip is a must read as the community makes its plans for the upcoming extended fixture list. The FPL veterans, being tracked by Kavali, will be among those keeping a watchful eye on the best options over the next few Gameweeks as they continue their long march to respectability.

Meanwhile, the World T20 Fantasy game entered its third phase this week and Moin was on hand to offer his advice.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

Double gameweek planning continues to dominate discussion but, ponders Andy85wsm, is the chance to play 15 players with two fixtures in Gameweek 34 clouding our judgement?

Ditching in-form single Gameweek 34 players such as Kane could prove potential blunders, according to Lightbody’s discussion on double Gameweeks. The Kane captainers featured in our Gameweek 31 rough with the smooth will certainly be having second thoughts about jettisoning the Spurs man after he brought them a 32-point FPL haul. Southampton’s in-form striker Graziano Pelle is another single Gameweeker that is upsetting the community’s double Gameweek plans, according to Irish Madridsta.

There were plenty more torn-up double Gameweek plans when we asked whether Fantasy managers were having second thoughts about going all out with 15 players in Gameweek 34. In addition, the news that Everton and Crystal Palace have a double Gameweek 33 also forced a few hasty rewrites.

RoysCallerAnne has endured the roughest of seasons but is hoping the double Gameweeks can bring him some much-needed joy. Instead of opting for popular Gameweek 34 picks such as Sergio Aguero, he is on a mission to create a potential rankings-boosting differential squad.
Later in the week NickofOz served up Newcastle’s Alexsandar Mitrovic as a potential target for those looking for a double Gameweek punt.

Our more creative community members have also been busy constructing online tools to help Fantasy managers get their thoughts together and select the best players. Jossy’s double Gameweek gadget can be found here, while Twisted Saltergater is another to put his online skills to good use.

Whether looking for a good punt for Gameweek 32 or a double Gameweek player on a wildcard Evs warns against picking players from teams with nothing to play for and are more interested in making summer holiday plans.

Members Tables

For those looking to keep a close eye on Rafa Benitez’s chances of retaining Premier League status for Newcastle SixtySeven has created a table tracking their key players. This has an open filter allowing for comparisons between pre- and post-Benitez era Magpies.

Before investing in a striker for the up coming double Gameweeks Members are urged to look at Balders’ latest table, looking at those who are at risk of losing out in FPL’s bonus point system.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

In addition, with blanks and double Gameweeks now here it is wise to sort by matches rather than Gameweeks to give a fairer gauge of form.

The Community Tournaments

Jarvish’s Frequent Posters Cup reaches the last 16 stage in Gameweek 32 with iCon, Ayew Serious and Pompeyfan among those to emerge victorious from the previous round in Gameweek 31.

In the Top 10k Any Season league, Ralf Buckenmaier has regained the lead and also reached 99th in the overall FPL rankings, while Nial Akata continues to lead the January to May League. Both these competitions are organised by Red Lightning.

The top five in the FFScout moderators and contributors league stayed the same after Gameweek 1, which means Andy remains at the summit, keeping second placed Evs at bay once again.

In TorresMagic’s Last Man Standing the safety score was 79, which saw 46 players depart and 128 remain.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round Ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spread sheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

Wenger hardly changes a working formula. So for only 4.3 he is a good player to get, as no one can tell if he would or would not start both games, as he has already played full matches in the recent 2nd and 5th of March.

Take a hit or two in 35, if they are worth having, I reckon they should earn more than the -4 to get them out for GW35ers,

    Firmino, Mahrez, Ozil, Payet, Antonio/Lanzini
    Aguero, Lukaku, Kane

I think Kane is the one severely restricting your DGW options. Both midfields look quite short. I don't think I'd want 3xWhm either.

If you're buying Ozil, you can wait till next Friday/Saturday.

I've not worked out how to play GW35. I'm tempted just to get the players I think will score best with as many DGWs as possible and play short in 35 if necessary.

              Pre-season all over again 😀

My current plan is to have:
              (DGW33) 4 players [Possible TC]
              (DGW34) 12 players [BB]
              (GW35) 10/11 players
              (DGW37) 11 players [Possible TC] [-4]

It's not just 35 though Flynny. I think you should be looking at 33-38 holistically because it involves a no of dgws, blanks and comes at a time when some teams will be more to rotation than any other time.

This is also a big point Jafalad, thanks.

I'm trying not to take many risks on club rotations but as we both know this time of year managers often want to see how the "kids" or shaping up or old players who have been with the club for yonks and about to get the elbow have a half game bye bye.

Lukaku TC in gw33 seems to me to be the best TC option...

I could upgrade to Payet....... City is an injured mess, hopefully KDB comes back healthy but even if he does he won't play a full 90. I think Aguero is going to have to carry a load that is bigger than he has faced so far, Silva is not his full self.

Waiting to see if Firmino heals up well, Coutinho is hit and miss. Let's just see how Liverpool look.

        Exciting times

Please help me with this. I want double Man U df for 34 BB. Palace in 34 is quite useless, so shipping them out for those who have games in 35 and doubles in 34.

    GW 33:
    DDG, Elliot
    Smalling, Clyne, Bellerin, Jagielka*, Dann*
    Coutinho, Payet, Ozil, Mahrez, Bolasie*
    Kun, Ighalo, Lukaku*

    GW 34:
Dann, Bolasie to Dawson, Firmino (-4)

    WC-draft GW33

    Mignolet-Robles
    Bellerin-*****-Sakho-Rojo-*****
    Sanchez-Firminho-Payet-Mahrez-Lanzini
    Lukaku-Kun-Kane

    GW34 Save FT
    GW35 2 FT

Two spot left. Which is better option?
    A) Kos+Fucsh
    B) Gabriel+Smalling+0.4m

I like more B atm. So this means double def fron Arsenal,Pool, ManU. Is ok go with B?

Yep, its what I want as well and there are 'ok' alternatives in Welbeck and Mitrovic. Sturridge would be better though but I can't see him playing every game until GW38

Welbeck is not actually playing striker , so I don't want him
Mitrovic is only one or 2 bad game(s) away from being replaced by Doumbia

Good point....I really want Sturridge tho... 😛

I am willing to sacrifice Payet for it...my two options are -

                A)Payet + Mitro/Ighalo
                B)Antonio/Lanzini + DS

I want Sturridge too but sometimes you just have to know how far is too far. He'll be rotated with Firmino up front and thats assuming Tekkers remains injured.

I watched the entire game (EVE vs ARS) and I can tell you that Welbeck and Sanchez were exchanging positions throughout the match...sometimes it was Welbeck striker , sometimes Sanchez

                    Rashford is too problematic.

                    - No game in 35 (not ideal if you have Payet and Lukaku)
                    - Rooney might return so game time is questionable
                    - Biggest issue is he's difficult to upgrade to anyone who has a GW35 fixture. Defoe against Arsenal maybe?

How maverick was my Vardy > Mitrovic move last week huh? 😛 I was warned against it, but went there anyways as I had a FT to burn. Both players scored 5 points, but it's given me the cash to bring in Payet and Ivan pre-WC. Smooth! Might just keep Mitrovic for his DGW, fancy him to fulfil his potential under Rafa.

Ok Please bear with me, this is my current plan.
Feel free to pick it apart, and make suggestions, ill have missed stuff for sure

WCing in 33 for 34 DGW.

    Robles
    Elliot
    Cresswell or reid
Dann > bellerin in gw 35
    Rojo/Smalling
    Sakho
    Clyne
    Ozil > Khazri in 37
    Payet
    Barkley
    Alexis
Bolasie >> Cout or firm in 35
    Aguero >> Costa in 37
    Lukaku
    Mitrovic >> Martial for 37

    This leaves me with
    DGW 33, 5 players
    DGW 34, 15 players
    SGW35, 10 players
    DGW 37, 11 players

Obviously need to work out timing of BB and TC, this has given me a headache, and ive no doubt made mistakes, but honest opinions please

    Robles - Elliot
    Janmaat - Sakho - Dann - Reid - Bellerin
    Coutinho - Sanchez - Cabaye - Mahrez - Payet
    Mitrovic - Aguero - Lukaku

    Dann + Cabaye > Rojo + Milner GW34

    Good morning DZ.

Thinking of pulling the WC trigger on Wednesday after the international games.

    Lukaku TC in GW 33.

    WC Draft.

    Elliot Mignolet
    Koscielny Simpson Olsson Dann Coleman
    Sanchez Ozil Coutinho Payet Bolasie
    Aguero Lukaku Rashford

A hit will give me 11 playing in GW 35. No Firmino or Newcastle attack is a worry, but happy with this.

    Thoughts?

I personally would rather get a MU defender in there.

Maybe DDG Jags instead of Mignolet Coleman? Can get Dann -> Liverpool def later on

Cheers. Rashford is a worry. Will have to look at alternatives.

Coutinho over Firmino for me too. Don't fancy a TC with 2 away games myself either

      I like it.
I can afford that with 2.7m spare.
With that I've gone Eliott > Robles, Olsson >Rojo and Rashford > Mitrovic.

Anyone not having Robles now? If not, why not?

    a) get Coutinho now and do Bolasie -> Antonio / Lanzini on GW 34

    b) get Antonio now and do Bolasie -> Firmino / Coutinho on GW 34

Both options give me 2 weeks to observe.

Get Coutinho later. He plays on Thursday ahead of the double. Injury worry.

        Fair point.

Even if it means missing out his next two home games (TOT STO) and playing Antonio (CPL) and Ozil (whm) instead?

Lucky you don't have 2 weeks to tinker. This is both amusing and seems like hell with all the permutations 😉

A Liverpool player for two weeks less is a good thing

        Cheers Ryan.

My dilemma is not knowing who to get. FIrmino is in form but I reckon Coutinho will play better with Sturridge in the side.

Also Antonio (CPL) and Ozil (whm) is playing instead of the 2 Liverpool, so it isn't all gloomy.

    Also,

    a) Elliot (nor SWA MCI liv) + Bellerin attacking points

    b) Simpson (SOT WHM SWA) + Cech save points

Based on that alone, doesn't seem like Elliot can get more CS than Simpson though.

I'd say Elliot over those 4 fixtures will outscore Simpson over these 3.

Kompany and Vardy to funes Mori and Lukaku for free?

Is Mori nailed on? Stones may get a few games. Good transfer otherwise.

Pick one set for a WC team please:
    A) Simpson, Rojo, Ozil
    B) Monreal, Smalling, Mahrez

If it helps, I have Sanchez and Bellerin in already.
    Help much appreciated

A if you have two. Not a fan of losing Ozil for the next 4 games though

Arsenals worryingly low home goals and Smallings security of starts over Rojo not concerning?
