Many of the community’s double Gameweek plans were being hastily rewritten as a result of the red-hot form shown by the likes of Harry Kane and Riyad Mahrez. Our hot topic posters chart their u-turns and second thoughts over the potential use of Fantasy Premier League chips and wildcards, while our community articles section turns its attention to the most consistent and explosive captaincy options. Rafa Benitez’s revolution at Newcastle comes under the spotlight in our Members tables and we also reveal who are leading the way in our community leagues.

The Community Articles

Captaincy candidates for the impending double Gameweeks came under the watchful eye of TM245 this week. His analysis of the best midfield and forward candidates for the triple captaincy chip is a must read as the community makes its plans for the upcoming extended fixture list. The FPL veterans, being tracked by Kavali, will be among those keeping a watchful eye on the best options over the next few Gameweeks as they continue their long march to respectability.

Meanwhile, the World T20 Fantasy game entered its third phase this week and Moin was on hand to offer his advice.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

Double gameweek planning continues to dominate discussion but, ponders Andy85wsm, is the chance to play 15 players with two fixtures in Gameweek 34 clouding our judgement?

Ditching in-form single Gameweek 34 players such as Kane could prove potential blunders, according to Lightbody’s discussion on double Gameweeks. The Kane captainers featured in our Gameweek 31 rough with the smooth will certainly be having second thoughts about jettisoning the Spurs man after he brought them a 32-point FPL haul. Southampton’s in-form striker Graziano Pelle is another single Gameweeker that is upsetting the community’s double Gameweek plans, according to Irish Madridsta.

There were plenty more torn-up double Gameweek plans when we asked whether Fantasy managers were having second thoughts about going all out with 15 players in Gameweek 34. In addition, the news that Everton and Crystal Palace have a double Gameweek 33 also forced a few hasty rewrites.

RoysCallerAnne has endured the roughest of seasons but is hoping the double Gameweeks can bring him some much-needed joy. Instead of opting for popular Gameweek 34 picks such as Sergio Aguero, he is on a mission to create a potential rankings-boosting differential squad.
Later in the week NickofOz served up Newcastle’s Alexsandar Mitrovic as a potential target for those looking for a double Gameweek punt.

Our more creative community members have also been busy constructing online tools to help Fantasy managers get their thoughts together and select the best players. Jossy’s double Gameweek gadget can be found here, while Twisted Saltergater is another to put his online skills to good use.

Whether looking for a good punt for Gameweek 32 or a double Gameweek player on a wildcard Evs warns against picking players from teams with nothing to play for and are more interested in making summer holiday plans.

Members Tables

For those looking to keep a close eye on Rafa Benitez’s chances of retaining Premier League status for Newcastle SixtySeven has created a table tracking their key players. This has an open filter allowing for comparisons between pre- and post-Benitez era Magpies.

Before investing in a striker for the up coming double Gameweeks Members are urged to look at Balders’ latest table, looking at those who are at risk of losing out in FPL’s bonus point system.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

In addition, with blanks and double Gameweeks now here it is wise to sort by matches rather than Gameweeks to give a fairer gauge of form.

The Community Tournaments

Jarvish’s Frequent Posters Cup reaches the last 16 stage in Gameweek 32 with iCon, Ayew Serious and Pompeyfan among those to emerge victorious from the previous round in Gameweek 31.

In the Top 10k Any Season league, Ralf Buckenmaier has regained the lead and also reached 99th in the overall FPL rankings, while Nial Akata continues to lead the January to May League. Both these competitions are organised by Red Lightning.

The top five in the FFScout moderators and contributors league stayed the same after Gameweek 1, which means Andy remains at the summit, keeping second placed Evs at bay once again.

In TorresMagic’s Last Man Standing the safety score was 79, which saw 46 players depart and 128 remain.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round Ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spread sheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

Do you agree with any of these statements?

    1. Cech will match Bellerin from now til end of season

    2. Leicester will have more CS up to GW35 compared to Newcastle despite having 1 less game

    3. Coutinho will flourish with Sturridge back in the side while Firmino's form will dent because he's not playing his preferred false 9 anymore

    4. Despite Bilic's tendency to not rotate player, Lanzini will play more than Antonio because he didnt play as much due to injury therefore is more "fresh"

Anyone else thinking of playing with just 9/10 players in GW35?

Makes planning for DGW37 much easier especially in case of any injuries beforehand

Maybe just use 1 FT and let the other one roll over

    1. Jazz!
      • 10 Years

Nice to know I'm not the only one considering that. Much higher chance of reward in 37 than in 35

A lot of teams that play in GW35 have a horrible 36 so it would seem pointless to me filling a slot neeflessley instead of a DGW player

    2. Taffer
      • 12 Years
      9 years, 8 months ago

Yes this is exactly what I'm doing. Going all out for GW37. Don't fancy GW34 due to the issues with structuring your team post WC.

    3. George Sillett
      • 10 Years
      9 years, 8 months ago

After much deliberation I think that could be the best option. 3 Arsenal plus Kane & Aguero but 2 FT to carry forward should ensure a decent GW37 DGW team.

    4. Colonel Shoe 肝池

    5. MaxiRobriguez

Going in with 8, playing Toby, Mahrez and Kane by looks of it. Think that will allow me to have a side as strong as anyone elses in 35, then can roll out the 36 WC. If I'm still 30pts or so behind in my ML I can roll out the more punty-WC with 15 BB players, if I've narrowed the gap then I could perhaps play a bit more conservative and hope for best. Later WC gives that flexibility providing your squad for 33, 34 is good enough. Only thing that worries me is I won't be having Barkley because I planned his inclusion for two DGWs in 36 and 37, not 33 and 34, so, regrettably, I can't now get him in.

Don't get much time these days to look at this sort of thing but here a team i whipped up in-between changing nappies.

    WC GW32

    Robles/Elliot
    Dawson, Rojo, Reid, Koscielny, Clyne
    Payet, Özil, Firmino, Barkley, Bolasie
    Lukaku, Martial, Agüero

    0.8 ITB

Obviously i want to max out as much as possible on all the DGWS from this point to the end.

All goes well i should have 2 FT for GW35

    and then 2FT for GW37.

As i say i haven't looked into it properly yet but can anyone see where i will come a cropper in terms of getting 15 for BB in 34, 11 players in 35 and 11 or close to 11 DGWers in 37?

    Thanks!

Triple Arsenal makes GW35 much easier. Dawson to Bellerin or another Arsenal defender? Elliot to Mignolet for DGW and easy GW35?

      hi
      my feedback
      1. Don't like Dawson - poor gw 33 and 35, and just one decent fix in 34 with Watford
      2. Rojo rotation risk - go smalling or none
      3. Unsure on the barkley and bolasie double up, I'd just get barkley at best
      4. 6 outfield players missing gw 35 is one too many

To max out, you need 3xLiv, 6xArs/Mci/New/WBA, 6xEve/Mun/Whm/Wat/CPL. Use 2FT in GW35 to switch from 3rd group to Che/Sun and the GW36/37 FT to switch from 2nd to 3rd group.

This might not be the best strategy as it is essentially forces all your remaining transfers. Don't be afraid to take a hit or two. For the record, I doubt I'll max out in GW37.

      I'm also unsure about Rojo.

Dawson .- With nothing to play for and the second dgw game against Arsenal I think you should avoid , riskier team but it could work out , make sure you get the balance for 34, 35 and 37 .
      33 - City
      35 - Spurs
      36 - West Ham

Any MUFC player and especially a defender is at risk from LVG at any point imo. Also the injury factor which plagues us.

Despite that i would say considering he's played the last few, the lack of other options and that he seems in the good books right now i would say hes worth the punt given Uniteds defensive home record and GW34 fixtures.

After the slating I received for my first draft, almost too scared to put myself up here again but here goes nothing:

    WC33 BB34

    _________Robles Cech
    Simpson Sakho Reid Smalling Gabriel
    __Payet Mahrez Firmino Özil Alli
    ______Lukaku Kane Agüero

4 SGWers at the moment. So gives me an extra spare FT which I could use to keep Barkley in place of Firmino and swap to Firmino in 34, still getting XI out in 35 without hits.

Mahrez -> Milner could happen as surprisingly Milner is going good the last few weeks and has pens.
    Alli preferable to Lingard imo.
Not fussed on holding Kane, but who do I get who does not blank in 35?

What improvements should I make to the above?

SGWers = potentially the smart choice.

tbf, it is a risk/reward situation. At my rank and situation in cash ML I cannot afford to go all out and get a totally different team. If I had not been in a cash ML would definitely have gone all-out 15DGWers and gotten a screenshot for memories. It might not be there next season once they realize the chips they introduced to level the field is being used diabolically to neutralize all non-non-casuals.

I suppose the obvious criticism is that you're using your BB to play 4 SGW players, which you could do any week.

      1. Ziro Becomes One
        • 10 Years
        9 years, 8 months ago

That is a fair comment, I could actually go all-out but that way the team I can get is not preferable to these 4 SGWers I think, hence holding off. Also, being able to have Kane, Mahrez, Alli on the bench for a Bench Boost would be a dream in any other GW imo, that in itself should be an advantage over 'normal' weeks.

    Thoughts on this plan.

    GW32 WC to this:
    DDG, Elliot
    Bellerin, Rojo,Dann, Koscielny, Sakho
    Payet, Özil, Firmino, Barkley, Mahrez
    Lukaku, Martial, Agüero

Then save transfer for GW34, to swap Dann, Barkley -> Sagna, Countinho

    DDG, Elliot
    Bellerin, Rojo,Sagna, Koscielny, Sakho
    Payet, Özil, Firmino, Countinho, Mahrez
    Lukaku, Martial, Agüero

Then transfer punt for GW35 to field 11, thinking Vardy or Pelle for Martial

        i disagree.

Wijnaldums returns at Home smashes Bolasies returns to pieces. So worth the swap as Wijnaldum has 2 Home fixtures compared to Bolasies away fixtures.

Depending on rank and ML-situation, I would get him if I had spare money. People on here say Jagielka is more nailed than Mori but I think it is the other way round now, even with Jags as captain. Jagielka is getting older too so I dunno whether that will impinge upon the non-stop fixtures that Everton will have starting from GW33 through to the FA semis.

Jagielka used to pop-up with the odd goal but this season the mantle has passed on to Mori it seems.

All this would have been so much easier if Ozil was still garnering assists every match or Sanchez was shooting golazos every other match with an assist thrown in.

Deciding between those could be the factor which boosts or bursts our final few weeks. Getting both of them ties down too much funds at the moment if one were to truly make a reasonable squad without compromises elsewhere.

I think it's worth remembering, that no matter what, if you have your WC, TC & BB and are getting advised on your team here and manage to get 3 out DGW33, 13 DGW34, 9/10 GW35 & 9ish DGW37, you'll be WAY above average.

The average person won't even know there is a DGW in 33.
