Akers makes his debut on our latest ScoutCast offering, joining us as our third wheel fresh off the back of the most miserable Gameweek points return imaginable. The Scout Picks were to blame apparently – a cunning excuse that I really should keep in reserve; it certainly seemed to keep Mark’s acid tongue at bay.

The new boy isn’t just on board to present his excuses; he’s here to introduce the launch of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup – another chance for the Fantasy Football Scout team to embarrass ourselves with an early exit.

Elsewhere things tick along as expected, with the “All Aboard” appraising the value of this week’s most tempting bandwagons, whilst examining the seemingly infectious condition of jerky knee when it comes to Mr Bale and Mr Carroll. The weekend preview finds Mark adopting a most uncomfortable position; sandwiched between two United fans before he’s forced to abandon the duty free and beach towels to make way for an overly generous selection of Fantasy Island Risks.

Grab these latest random rants right here and search out previous episodes via this link.

Or alternatively, stream the noise below from the comfort of FFS towers.

    Thanks for that lads!
Quick question...would it be ridiculout to take an 8 point hit to upgrade gardner to Nani? Need to get rid of him but to get nani it would involve downgrading Alex and O'Shea to 4.5 + 4 mil defenders....

Evening all - nice to see a new podcast. Have to wonder if there is a Man U coup going on at FFS though, you'll be getting Partridge in there next - you should get Chill Pill to even up the scores. 🙂
Finally an accy comes in, only €53 but better than a kick in the balls.

    Foster
    Gabbidon, Jones, Dann
    Bale, Malouda, Vaart, Parker
    Drogba, Torres, Jones

    What do you think?

I was close to dispose Bale, but then there was this CL game... I'm torn - recon he scores a couple over the next games if I dump him

Gabbidon in for Konchensky, to much risk with 2xHammers ?

No room for city, and I really don't fancy the game against Newcastle that much

They look like good transfers, you should definitely get your 4 points back
I personally am keeping faith with Bale for a bit longer, but I admit I'm getting annoyed with his 2 and 3 pointers...and Nani is in great form (I am one of the few without him)

Might as well keep Johnson for the time being, decent fixture this week and surely his good performance today caught Mancini's eye...I would think he'll get the start

    Hope this helps

There isn't. It pretty much is that, he isn't off form or anything, he basically just missed a game because of personal reasons and since we've been playing really well. Might be something else to it though, Morrison got sent off at Liverpool and his first game back went straight into the starting line-up last week, where as Dorrans was obviously left on the bench.

I agree-- I don't expect to get much utility out of my cheapy forward (*ignore the fact that, for now, I have ebanks-blake who isn't getting games*), so unless there is an absolute steal among one of the bigger clubs, my 3rd forward will be on the bench most weeks.

That'd be pretty sweet, PP has Carroll the favourite to score (3.75 compared to Arshavin's 4.33), but obviously that's not the only thing I should look at. (In fact, based on odds, I should be benching Etherington (5.5), which just seems crazy.)

I'd give Carroll the nod over Arshavin, since Arsenal play Chelsea and they probably won't beat them and probably not even score against them.

I'd also be looking to get rid of Arshavin quicksmart, since he's overpriced and over-rated.

          Totally my opinion of course.

Yeah, Arshavin has been bugging me. I had him two weeks ago, brought in Fabregas who got injured that week, swapped him back to Arshavin because I wanted some extra coverage for the WBA game (and beyond), but it's all been a bit of a pointless endeavour (pretty much literally).

I've got money in the bank so can afford to do some shuffling after the International break, and I'm leaning towards Carroll now, but it really does feel like a coin toss. Maybe after all this I'll go with the odds and bench Etherington.

Stoke are at home, that would be the least correct option I think. It's probably is a coin toss (if anything weighted more toward Arshavin), I just have a gut feeling for Newcastle putting up a good show this weekend.

Yeah, I agree about Etherington, I might stick with Carroll and hope for some excitement - most of the people behind me in my minileague have him, so it could hurt big time if he ends up being a good differential for them.

Isn't Nasri on penalties ahead of Arshavin? I'll admit I'm not too hot on Arsenal's third choice penalty taker...

Not certain either mate but i reckon you maybe right. I think Arshavin was on the pitch by the time Nasri took the pens against Spurs so that would seem Nasri will continue

interesting milner dropping, odd transfer to make before this weekend.

gents, and further opinions on who to play out of jara or carrol? Im either gonna play jara i think, or take a 4 pointer and have a gamble on darren bent in for carrol, or milner in for johnson. Closest rival has also taken a hit. I is 70% sticking with just jara and no hit though

Milner may drop. We will see shortly. If not tonight it should happen by the weekend. No idea with your problem lol.

I imagine there was a lot of Milner -> Nani transfers but to take him out before the Newcastle game is suspect.

As for your little dilemma I think you should feel relatively safe in playing Jara. Bolton at home is the type of game you'd want to play him in and he's coming off a game in which he scored. How much would you kick yourself if he did it again lol

Anyone up for a late night RMT?

    Foster
    Alex - Shawcross - Jara
    Malouda - Gerrard (C) - Dempsey - Y. Toure - Bale
    Drogba - Berbatov

Bench: Hahnemann - Carrol - Enrique - Konchesky

Already done my transfers for the week but does everything look good? Nani in for Gerrard next week and Fab in for Bale the week after that I'm thinking.

Anyone thinking backing Sunderland this week is a good bet? I'm really tempted, just a little bit concerned that it might be a draw. I might go for a win with the draw being a push, hurts the odds, but prolly the correct play.

Yeah I reckon Sunderland have a good chance of winning. Utd are yet win away from home in the league, and with Rio playing on Wed, Evans will most likely start - which means joy for the Sunderland forwards!!

Rooney, Scholes and Giggs may all miss the game, and once you take them out of the equation, Utd's team is looking a little weak. Plus, Utd were in Valencia on Wednesday and Sunderland have had the whole week off.. Bruce loves nothing more than making it hard for the big teams at the Stadium of Shite, so I reckon Utd will struggle...

Plus Sunderland look quiet strong this season imo, which is my main motivation. I usually go for one decent punt each week, 5 from 6 so far for the season. Looks like the one this week.

No he wont start. Milner is too hardworking and David Silva wasn't signed for all that money just to sit on the bench.

      Play Carroll.

Any suggestions on who to bench this week:

    My team is:

    Foster, Krul
    Konchesky, O’Shea, Toure, Dann, Shawcross
    Adam, Gerrard, Nani, Bale, Etherington
    Drogba, Tevez, Carroll

So far i’m thinking: Krul, Adam, Konchesky

then one of either Shawcross/Dann. Should i bench Dann with Foster being in goal?

I'd bench Shawcross personally. I dropped him altogether last week having had him in since the beginning. I know Stoke are at home, but they seem to have lost their discipline in defence which is what their success was built on in the first couple of seasons. Pity really. At the moment, Huth from set pieces is more of an attacking threat.

    QUICK POLL: one free transfer:

    (1) Arteta to Ashley Young;

    (2) Arteta to Dempsey;

    (3) Williamson to Seamus Coleman;

    (4) Alex to Samba/Salcido

Easily number 4, toss up between which one to pick, I really like both, maybe a slight preference for Samba given that he's a BP darling. Although I'll have to admit I got Seamus Coleman in myself this week.

Plus, hang on tight to Arteta - about the only performing player in the shambles that is Everton currently, so once they pull their knickers up, expect the points to roll in from him. He's going to bag 15+ points in a GW, sooner rather than later.

I'm not sure either of those mids are going to give you any more or less consistency than arteta. Dempsey makes strange decisions on the pitch and wastes far more opportunities than a *good* player should. You never know when he's gonna get one. Young's a better player, but villa isn't at full attacking strenght

I agree that samba's a good shout. He's on my watchlist once i get my attack sorted.

Thanks for the advice. I have been patient with Arteta from the start and think he is playing well, just the lack of cutting edge at striker has held him back. AST have some tough fixtures coming up, but still considering Bale-Alex out for Ashley Young-Elmo/Salcido/Samba. Thanks again.
