Next up this Tuesday evening we roll out a heads-up on our Scout Picks thinking for the Gameweek ahead. This list of 22 players will also include some names in contention for a place in our Spot the Differential article, though will, of course, be subject to change, depending on the injury situation over the next few days.

Here’s the cast currently under consideration for Gameweek 32…

Goalkeepers

West Ham United have proved a tough nut to crack at the Boleyn Ground, recording clean sheets in four of their previous five home ties. Meanwhile, weekend visitors Crystal Palace mustered just five goals in their last six road trips, which brings Adrian (5.0) – who’s scooped five bonus points and four save points in a quartet of starts – onto our radar.

Joe Hart’s calf injury has paved the way for Willy Caballero (4.8) to earn a start between the sticks against a Bournemouth unit that registered a paltry two attempts last time out.

Defenders

We’re currently mulling over a four-man defence for the upcoming round of fixtures due to a number of strong options at the back.

With three assists in his last two starts, Hector Bellerin (6.3) is translating his marauding wing play into tangible Fantasy returns. Crucially, the right-back boasts a points per game (ppg) average (4.5) that surpasses the likes of Laurent Koscielny (4.4) and Gabriel Paulista (4.3), rendering him the choice route into Arsenal’s defence as they prepare to host a Watford outfit that’s drawn seven blanks in ten outings.

Branislav Ivanovic (6.6) piques our interest ahead of Chelsea’s journey to a Villa side that have scored twice in previous six league outings. Having notched two goal and three assists, the Serbia international serves as the prime source of coverage for a defence that has registered four clean sheets in their last six away matches.

The King Power Stadium has been a fortress for Leicester since the turn of the year, with Claudio Ranieri’s men recording six shut-outs in their previous seven home encounters. The Foxes’ rearguard furnishes us with a host of tantalising options at home to a Southampton outfit that’s failed rto score in four of their previous eight on the road, but Christian Fuchs’ (5.0) knack for accruing bonus points (19 – second among all defenders) elevates his standing above the other starters.

Although Patrick van Aanholt (4.7) has suffered from the fact that Sunderland last earned a clean sheet in Gameweek 14, his propensity for attacking returns (five goals and three assists) remains a key selling point. Furthermore, the Black Cats will fancy their chances of rebuffing West Brom, bearing in mind that the Baggies’ in-form Salomon Rondon is set to arrive back late from international duties with Venezuela and may be somewhat fatigued.

Norwich’s back-to-back clean sheets has led us to explore their budget recruits. Given that he grabbed five out of a six maximum bonus points during the Canaries’ two shut-outs, new boy Timm Klose (4.2) gets our backing for the visit of a Newcastle side that’s failed to score in three of their last four away match-ups.

In light of our faith in the Hammers’ ability to keep it tight on home turf the ever-present Aaron Cresswell (5.7) also factors into our thinking.

Midfielders

Stoke’s main assets are likely to fade into obscurity beyond this weekend, when their schedule turns nasty (liv, TOT, mci) and Fantasy managers favour double Gameweek players. For now, though, Marko Arnautovic (6.6) remains in our thoughts as Swansea roll up to the Britannia. The Austrian has netted seven of his last eight goals at home and is pitted against a backline with a single clean sheet on their travels all season.

With Roberto Firmino (hamstring) still a slight doubt for Liverpool’s home clash against Tottenham Hotspur, Philippe Coutinho (8.1) represents our favoured path into their attack. The twinkle-toed Brazilian scored three times across his previous five appearances in all competitions and – despite contending with a spate of injuries – has racked up five double-figure hauls.

Expected to be passed fit after sustaining a knock in the Tyne-Wear derby, Wahbi Khazri (6.0) will look to pull the strings when the Baggies roll up at the Stadium of Light. As the Wearsiders’ premier creative influence, the Tunisian midfielder is well place to deliver Fantasy returns against a West Brom rearguard that managed four clean sheets in their last 20 outings.

Notwithstanding Alexis Sanchez’s upturn in form (one goal and two assists in three), Mesut Ozil’s (9.7) consistency throughout the campaign gives him the edge for Arsenal’s clash with Watford..

Dimitri Payet (8.3) is in the midst of a purple patch (two goals and four assists in five) as West Ham face off against a Palace outfit that’s without a shut-out in 11 fixtures.

Riyad Mahrez (7.4) scored in two of his last three starts and will lock horns with a Saints back line that surrendered eight goals in their last five match-ups.

Buoyed by an eye-catching performance on the international stage, Dele Alli (6.2) will look to punish a Liverpool outfit that have mustered a mere two clean sheets in their last ten league matches.

With regards to harnessing Man City’s attacking potential in midfield, it’s a toss-up between Yaya Toure (8.5) and David Silva (9.9), who are both struggling for form but are capable of explosive returns at the Vitality Stadium.

Forwards

With Diego Costa serving the final match of his suspension, Loic Remy (7.1) looks likely to spearhead Chelsea’s attack in the West Midlands. Even in the event that the Frenchman loses out to Bertrand Traore, his pace against tired legs spells trouble for a Villa side that conceded a whopping 18 goals in their last six fixtures.

Notching three goals and one assist in five appearances, Danny Welbeck (7.3) has cemented Arsenal’s lone-striker berth for the time being. Given that the Hornets haven’t carded a shut-out on the road since Gameweek 16, the former Manchester United marksman will be preying on those insecurities at the Emirates.

Having tallied three goals and one assist in his previous six starts, Jermain Defoe (5.1) is in fine fettle before the West Brom head-to-head. The ex-Spurs forward is prone to short bursts of scoring (he beckoned in the New Year with a quick-fire brace and hat-trick) and throughout his career has showcased a propensity for putting less illustrious sides to the sword.

Sergio Aguero (13.6) came up short in four of his last five starts but is handed a great platform to get back on track against the Cherries’ unconvincing defence.

Harry Kane (10.4) is the league’s form striker (five goals and one assist in four) and one of the few fixture-proof players on the market as Spurs make their way to Anfield.

Romelu Lukaku (8.9) chalked up three goals in his previous five starts but could find it tough going against a Manchester United rearguard that’s conceded the fewest home goals (seven).

On Standby

Considering the surfeit of viable pick-ups across all price brackets, there are a bevy of players that could yet manoeuvre themselves into our team.

If Joe Hart (5.7) is passed fit before the weekend, he’ll usurp his Argentinian stand-in.

As mentioned above, Alexis Sanchez (10.8) – who registered 10 attempts in his last four starts – has put us on alert with his recent flourish. Staying within the North Londoners’ camp, only two midfielders mustered more shots inside the box than Alex Iwobi (4.5) last Gameweek, who is pushing for a place in our Spot the Differentials article.

Chelsea midfield trio Willian (7.1), Oscar (7.9) and Cesc Fabregas (8.4) are all jostling for attention ahead of the trip to Villa Park. Although the latter netted three goals in his last four matches, Oscar ranked top among his Blues counterparts for attempts (12), shots inside the box (seven) and shots on target (four) during that time. As for Willian, he charted joint-second among all midfielders for key passes (17).

Michail Antonio (5.4) ranked joint-third for attempts (12), joint-second for shots inside the box (seven) and joint-top for shots on target (five) across his previous quartet of starts, and looks likely to revert to a midfield berth following James Tomkins’ return to fitness. As for Gylfi Sigurdsson (7.3), he carded attacking returns (two goals and assists) in each of his last four starts, which bodes well for a trip to the Britannia Stadium.

Up top, Daniel Sturridge’s (9.9) return to form and fitness has seen him score in each of his last two league outings ahead of an Anfield head-to-head with Tottenham.

Meanwhile, the arrival of Rafa Benitez Aleksandar Mitrovic (6.2) into our thinking. The Serbian sits joint-top with Kane for efforts inside the box (seven) in the last two Gameweeks and, having bagged an equaliser against Sunderland, looks pivotal to Newcastle’s survival bid as they head to fellow strugglers Norwich.

The Community Champions

Having scrapped the weekly vote idea from last season, we now operate a lottery system to pick our weekly candidates. The community member who beats our picks by the biggest margin over the campaign will win a £100 Amazon Voucher and a place in our Contributors and Moderators League for the following season.

Red Devil leads the way after beating the Picks by 25 points in Gameweek 17.

Gameweek 31’s Community Champion Gawa 11 beat the Scout Picks by 74 points to 70. The Gameweek 32 Community Champion is Van Dear Vaart. This is his 10th season playing FPL, with 2011/12’s finish of 153344 his highest.

In addition to a shot at the £100 Amazon prize, FantasyBet are offering a chance for further prizes to Community Champions that are eligible to play their games. More details can be found here.

So my WC is active and currently as it stands the only player I transferred in is Elliot to avoid his price rise.....and now he is crocked.

Not really liking the thought of Darlow in my team and not sure what the best GK combo is for a WC at this stage. Any thoughts?

Depends on funds really. Migs Robles will give you most games so may as well go with that

I'm not liking this due to GW 37 where both teams would have a double and you'd have to bench one. Seems a waste

I'm on mignolet and ddg but that's due to chips etc.
Best rotation is Cech and Robles

I really like the Cech/Robles combo and would love it even better with a Cech price drop tonight and a Wenger presser on Fri confirming him fit for the weekend 🙂

I rethinking my approach with Elliott out. If GW35 was decent fixture-wise, then maybe I could carry Darlow but Man City in GW34 followed by Liverpool? He could rack up the save points, let's look at it that way.

Am just thinking Mignolet might be the better option, but that's 1m more...

If you are WCing in 32 or 33 and still want to have 11 DGWers for 37 then Mignolet cannot be your GK apparently.

I'm liking the Cech Robles combo now but will wait to see if Cech is passed fit.

My understanding is in order to BB in 34 with 15 DGWers, field 11 GW 35 & 11 DGWers in 37, you need 3 outfield Liverpool players as they play in each of the weeks......without any hits.

Your bench inc GK's must be 4 DGW 37 players and the 2 FT you use in GW 35 must be DGW 37 players. That leaves 2FT in 37 for your last 2 DGW 37 players.

This is all injury/rotation free but we can hope

Thoughts on this WC33? Barkley and Dann will go out for GW35.

    Mignolet Robles
    Dann Bellerin Gabriel Rojo Fuchs*
    Payet Ozil Barkley Milner Mahrez*
    Aguero Lukaku Kane*

Dann and Barkley because of 4 games in 2GWs. Getting Sanchez is means trimming all over the place. I personally don't think it is worth it

Hmm I still think a player like Simpson + Mahrez will outscore Dann/Barkley over the 2 GWs. But I see your reasoning. Just not a fan of both players, but spose they will guarantee you 90 mins.

Nice Poche. Worry about Gabriel a bit thought.

I think Milner is the safest Pool mid to play both GW34 matches. If I change my mind and decide to WC early, He'd be my Pool mid

Confident in Gabriella's minutes? Milner's too?

Remember, there is Lallana, Henderson, Can, Lucas, Cout, Firm, Studge, Origi all battling for 6 positions. Can be rotation and Milner isn't nailed imo.

Don't like him as a pick either.

I wouldn't go with both Barkley and Milner. I see them both as second class options, and Payet, Ozil, Sanchez, Coutinho and Firmino as the big ones. Milner is on pens but is not as good/explosive/advanced as Firm and Coutinho. Barkley's form is terrible and Everton are stuttering badly at the moment.

Barkley came on the radar for me after the GW33 DGW announcement. He is the best Everton mid choice imo. Milner seems nice and safe and he had great form before his suspension

Yeah, but check out Firmino's form - 13-2-18-2-13-6-12-9.
It is comfortably the best in the game over that period and no fluke. He was great in Germany and he is playing like he was there here now.

Milner will almost certainly play both games vs Dortmund so could be rested for Stoke in-between. Mind you, you could say that of Sturridge, Coutinho, Firmino and Lallana too. Bit of a mindfield.

Beginning to come round to the idea of Lukaku TC week 33 (No WC). My rival will WC that week so there's no way he can do the same and as I'm behind I may be able to make some ground. Looking at GW37 there's no major standout options apart from maybe Payet or Lukaku again. Anyone doing this?

I've already spent it! I fancy Bolasie across both GW33 and 34. They're tough defensive fixtures in 34, not necessarily tough attacking fixtures. I'm also considering Ward or a Chelsea defender, then shipping for GW34 to a United defender.

See? I'm having the fun without actually using my WC 🙂

        A. I'm not even convinced Lukaku will start against Liverpool. The FA Cup, not the league, will save Martinez's job and Everton's season. There is nothing that he can do in the league now to turn around the opinion of the fans and the FA Cup will decide his future.

You don't understand football if you think Lukaku will be rotated against Liverpool.

Sorry to be so blunt, but you simply don't.

Sorry to be blunt, but you don't understand the situation in the stands. As an Evertonian, I hear what is going on in the stands and Martinez's job is hanging by a thread.

Martinez is done unless he wins the FA Cup. We play 5 games between the 9th of April and the 23rd - Lukaku will not start 5 games in 14 games. By far the most important of those is the FA Cup final.

Barkley will not start 5 times in 14 days either.

The Derby will be essentially meaningless. For all the discontent at the time, Moyes lost the Derby when resting several players but won the FA Cup semi.

I cant believe there are people who think Lukaku and Barkley will start every game.

Woah, I'm not saying he'll start every game. He might miss the home game with Southampton? But i think it's hugely unlikely he doesn't at least start the Merseyside derby.

True. If he does miss a game, it'll be the Saints one. Definitely not missing the Merseyside Derby.

We play Liverpool 3 days before our biggest game of the season. It's a distinct possibility.

As I said in my first post 'I'm not even convinced Lukaku will start against Liverpool'. That's not to say he will definitely not start. You might want to read posts properly before posting inflammatory comments.

Lukaku and Barkley will be rested though at some point - Lukaku for Niasse or Kone and Barkley for Mirallas/Deulofeu/an additional CM.

All that matters is the FA Cup for us- the league is gone.

You're an Evertonian so I'm baffled that you think Lukaku won't start. Would Everton fans accept their team rolling over to Liverpool 3 days before their biggest game of the season, or find it totally acceptable?

If Lukaku is given the Southampton game off, then he's had plenty R&R to play 60 mins in the derby in be in fine shape for the FA Cup game.

Am totally agreeing with you regarding rotation.

                    Let me try this again:

My quote: 'I'm not even convinced Lukaku will start against Liverpool.'

That does not mean that I think Lukaku definitely won't start.

A few seasons ago, Moyes rested half a team against Liverpool. The worse happened and Stevie G got a hatrrick. Some Everton fans were angry at the time, but that anger disappeared when we went through in the FA Cup semi.

There was a poll on by the far the biggest Everton fansite around recently, and just under half voted for changes in the Merseyside Derby 3 days before the FA Cup Semi.

Martinez winning the Derby will not save his job. Martinez winning the FA Cup will. That is all we have left to play for this season, and the importance of the derby has diminished a little recently because of the make-up of the sides. This argument does not go one way. If Martinez rests players he will be criticised by some. If he plays a full team he will be criticised by some, especially if 1) we lose 2) if we lose the Semi.

For these reasons, I would pick Martial because he is 1) likely to play more minutes 2) has easier games, including against one of the worse sides in Premier league history.

Again, I agree with you completely.

Look, I made a comment and reading it back, it was inflammatory. To be honest, I didn't expect you to then say you were an Evertonian as for me, your opinion then carries more weight than someone just making an idle comment about rotation.

Had I known you were an Evertonian beforehand, then I would have responded to your comment in a more reasoned manner.

Hi TM370, interesting views. Who would your picks be from Everton for the double doublegameweeks of 33 & 34?
Would you still gamble on Lukaku or are you looking at a potential 3 from 4 games from all the main candidates

I'd go for Lukaku and Robles personally for 33 and 34. Coleman would be my gamble, if I had money over and didn't fancy Robles.

    Robles - Darlow
    Sakho - Janmaat - Rojo - Bellerin - Gabriel
    Barkley - Coutinho - Ozil - Bolasie - Payet

Why do many people seem against the idea of having Darlow as one of their goalkeepers in their wildcard team?

The way I see it he is 0.1m cheaper than Elliot, so this is a nice saving and he will surely deliver very similar points to what Elliot was going to anyway.

So why do many people who were favouring Elliot in their teams seem to be against Darlow? Am I missing something?

I'm sorry, but I just can't seem to get a WC 32/33 team together that I fully like, AND manage for 4 further weeks while trying to get 11 DGW for 37. I just don't think it's worth it to have that unbalanced a team for 4 weeks. If/When I wildcard, I want to try for 15 DGW if at all possible.

Sticking to my game (late WC) and taking a few hits if needed. If it doesn't work out, oh well.

Definitely go with the players you rate and what you're comfortable with. No doubt WC'ers will be made to pay at some point for shipping Leicester and Spurs assets. It's a risk of course, but that's sometimes where the fun is. One thing is for sure - there'll be at least two camps and variety helps the game, imo.

Anyone considering Mount Rashford for GW34? With Man United facing Villa and Palace, an attacking United player is pretty much essential imo. Between him and Martial imo

Lol :), they have been looking a bit better lately though, have´nt they? And it´s more due to Villa and Palace being hopeless.

Just my opinion, but maybe the reason for streess/frustration with trying to get the perfect DGW scenario, is that everyone seems to really be trying to avoid ANY hits in doing this? We seem to forget that taking a -8 or -12 (which I did last year during DGW31) can work out very nicely, if you make the right calls. Especially for chasers.

    Scouts,
Willing to take gambles and looking at my team the best way is going differential in Defense.

Have 2 FT's and 2.1M ITB (team linked)

    A) Otamendi-Richards to double ARS (Bellerin-Kosc)
    B) Otamendi-Richards to double CHE (Terry-Ivanovic)
    C) one of ARS and CHE
    D) another combo

    Thanks

Do u consider Sanchez essential for a WC team or are his funds worth spreading around?

I think he is a very important player but not essential because of his performances this season. His points per game are below Firm, Coutinho, Ozil and Payet for a reason.

I'd like to have him in my team because I fear not having him, and Arsenal's fixtures are great. But I'm not sure if it will be a possibility. If Rooney is out and I can use Rashford, I might go for him and Ozil. If not I think I will stick with Ozil.

    Currently have:

Silva (bou) Arnie (SWA) Alli (liv) Mahrez (SOU) Siggy (stk)

Have 1FT and 0.6 ITB, what transfer would you make to this midfield and bench who?

    Thanks

Judging on form, i would bench Silva.

Well, thats probably a week to "waste" a FT 🙂

If you must, then Silva to Ozil and bench Siggy

Are you Wild carding in 33?

Some will say bench Arnie, but I would certainly play Arnie. His points per game at home is fantastic, as demonstrated recently. I'm unconvinced by Silva at the moment, and I'd be inclined to drop him based on form, especially if you own Aguero.

Yep WC'ing in 33, so have a FT to burn! Was thinking Silva to Ozil/Payet, but was also thinking bench Alli (i know) and doing siggy to WIllian?

I'm swapping Siggy for Payet this week, bencing Alli and WCing in 33, although Butland's injury makes Sig even more tempting.

I think Willian is a decent shout, but I like your Silva to Ozil/Payet move. The benching headache is tough though, and I'd be inclined to bench Alli or Siggy if you do sell Silva.

City have scored 10 goals in their last 13 away games .Arnie has 5.0 per game and Silva 4.0. Arnie's home PPG is far higher than Silva's away PPG.

Silva has been creating chances lately, but City as a team has underperformed. Arnie is not a bad option, but I would never bench Silva against Bournemouth.

Siggy is unbeanchable. Look at his stats, he almost never blanks. Stoke also probably starting Jakob Haugaard in goal.
