It’s time to drop into the Weekly Shop for our final Wednesday article, as we analyse the player lists of our partner games to highlight the likely targets that will make up our own weekly squads.

As always, the player analysis is split into two sections: I’ll break down the key targets that no squad can do without in “Better Buys”, before seeking out those one-shot “Poundstretcher” prospects that can provide us points, whilst freeing up funds.

For this week’s selection, we’re focusing on the FantasyBet and DraftKing player lists.

Crystal Palace travel to Upton Park where West Ham have been resilient of late, keeping five clean sheets in seven home matches. With 15 saves and five bonus points over his last four appearances, Adrian (FantasyBet 5m, DraftKings $4,000) could be worth the extra investment compared to more budget-friendly keeper options. In midfield, Dimitri Payet (FantasyBet 7.5m, DraftKings $8,600) carried his league form into the international friendlies by netting a trademark free-kick against Russia, and the Frenchman’s two goals and four assists in five make him difficult to ignore.

Chelsea will be optimistic of extending their 14-match unbeaten league run when they visit Villa Park on Saturday lunchtime. While the Blues have been porous at Stamford Bridge, they have four clean sheets in six on the road and Branislav Ivanovic (FantasyBet 6.5m, DraftKings $4,100) offers the opportunity of points at both ends of the pitch against a team destined for the Championship.

Arsenal’s 2-0 victory at Goodison Park was a promising result for those considering investment in the Gunners ahead of Watford’s visit. The Hornets travel to the Emirates with a single shut-out in nine away trips and Hector Bellerin (FantasyBet 5.5m, DraftKings $4,200) offers the form route into the hosts’ rearguard with three assists over the last two outings.

In midfield, picking between Mesut Ozil (FantasyBet 9.5m, DraftKings $8,000) and Alexis Sanchez (FantasyBet 11m, DraftKings Forward $7,800) is once again a conundrum. The former has been more consistent in the long-term but the Chilean’s goal and a pair of assists over the last three hints at a return to form. A potentially rewarding and cheaper alternative has emerged further up the field, though, with Danny Welbeck (FantasyBet 7m, DraftKings $5,500) bagging three goals and an assist in five since returning from injury.

Sergio Aguero (FantasyBet 13m, DraftKings $8,800) may have blanked in three of his last four outings but travels to a Bournemouth team that have leaked six goals over their previous three. Despite his recent toils, the Argentine has fired 14 attempts in the box over the last four – joint-top along with Harry Kane. With City still limited by injuries in midfield, he may well be paired with Wilfried Bony (FantasyBet 8m, DraftKings $4,900) once again. While the Ivorian has not been on the pitch as much as Aguero, his 11 attempts in the box compares favourably, earning the forward a high placing in Jonty’s Goals Imminent table.

Poundstretchers

An injury to Joe Hart should see Willy Caballero (FantasyBet 4.5m, DraftKings $2,900) earn a rare stint between the sticks as City travel to Bournemouth. Manuel Pellegrini’s men have allowed their opponents a mere 11 shots inside the box in the last four – less than any other side.

Norwich are looking to chalk up a third straight clean sheet as relegation rivals Newcastle roll up to Carrow Road. Timm Klose’s (FantasyBet 4.5m, DraftKings $2,400) defensive displays have been key to the Canaries improvement, with the centre-half earning five bonus points in the last two Gameweeks. Wes Hoolahan (FantasyBet 4.5m, DraftKings $3,800) has chipped in with two goals and a pair of assists in his last four home appearances and looks a value option amongst Alex Neil’s attack.

After three successive draws, Sunderland will be hoping to give their survival bid a shot in the arm as West Brom visit the Stadium of Light. Patrick van Aanholt’s (FantasyBet 4.5m, DraftKings $3,900) five goals from defence this term is only equalled by Scott Dann, Wahbi Khazri (FantasyBet 6m, DraftKings $5,400) continues to return some promising attacking numbers, while Jermain Defoe (FantasyBet 5m, DraftKings $4,700) has scored in back-to-back outings and also looks a good value option against the Baggies, who have kept a single clean sheet in four matches.

These are the contenders for my weekly contest lineups heading into the midweek fixtures. Tomorrow I’ll also bring you up to date on my progress in FantasyBet, as I continue my quest for profit in the 2015/16 campaign.

        1. Cech said he should be back this week.
        2. Rooney is back so Rashford will be rotated. I reckon he'll play 90 minutes over the 2 fixtures
        3. Sakho is nailed on.
Gabriel is first choice - prob will be rested though at one point.
Rojo also, but no having doubt with all the rumours.

Shameless RMWCT... I know, I know.. Just throwing something slightly different out into the mix.

    Ruddy (- Mignolet**)
    Bellerin - Klose - Fuchs (- Simpson - Janmaat**)
    Sanchez - Ozil - Payet - Lanzini - Mahrez
    Kun - Kane** (- Lukaku)

    ** = not 100% sure about.

0.6 itb to do Ozil -> KdB if needed.

I'm "going big" by not getting in 15DGW players and punting against the herd on here.

I think everyone has gone completely DGW-crazy and shipping players like Fuchs / Mahrez / Kane for Olsson / Milner / Martial is just insanity in my eyes πŸ˜‰

Not sure which other defence to double up on, and I'm not 100% convinced Everton have anything to play for anymore.

Funds are the main issue, hence the Ruddy/Klose 8.3m double up.

Really no point in double NOR. Makes absolutely no sense with all these dgw's incoming in the next 2-3 GW.
Would ship Lanzini to get a LIV midfielder.

Lanzini to a Liverpool mid would require me downgrading by 3.5m elsewhere though, Lanzini is mostly in for his price (4.9m).

Double Norwich will only play this week, and both against Sunderland in my BB34.

Will probably play them in their DGW37 too, but they'll mainly be bench warmers!

Well, not sure i like that tho. There are way better options and ways to use a WC (in my opinion tho, so not much weight). If i was on WC i would get rid of Ruddy for Robles / Darlow. Also, would look into shipping KUN for someone else and that will free up a lot of funds to upgrade Lanzini and elsewhere. I am really close to doing so.

          1. Irish Madridista ⭐
            • 15 Years

Really don't want to lose Kun. REEEALLY don't want to.. I'd struggle WAY too much to get him back in πŸ˜› haha

I'm very open to the idea of losing Ruddy, but realistically with my current money situation it would only be for Darlow.

Double Norwich defence vs double Newcastle defence.. not much in it, Newcastle probably better short term and Norwich better long term due to DGWs..

                106.4 SV.

0.6 itb, was keeping this in case I want KdB and Sanchez both for DGW34.
Using these funds means I'd need to lose Sanchez and keep Ozil for DGW34 if I want KdB (likely)

                  Gomes / Robles

Hey Prophet, only after seeing this now, was pulled into a meeting! Sorry!

I like that, kinda relies on Sakho being nailed on but that's pretty likely.
Means I leave open a spot for Vardy if I want him back too..

Only issue is Gomes / Robles don't have a game in GW35 so would require a transfer, but still, definitely an option. Cheers man πŸ™‚

No worries mate, i realized no gw 35 for the GK when i posted that. The problem might be there is no UTD for dgw eventho their stats are appalling.

I am about to head out in a meeting in a little bit as well.

I do think that maybe another goalie instead of Robles can do the job. Not sure how much ITB you have left tho.

    DGW34

    Robles - Darlow
    Rojo - Bellerin - Moreno - Sakho - Mangala
    Antonio - Sanchez - Ozil - Milner - Payet
    Aguero - Lukaku - Martial

Have wildcarded this week, so will be switching out Barkley and Bolasie to Milner and Payet. Firmino aside, any glaring holes?

Flanagan isn't registered for Europa i guess, so he will most probably start in the league matches.

Flanagan not registered to play in Europe, so maybe Flanagan for Premier League and Moreno for Europa. Not sure if it's that simple though!

This I'd disagree with, Man City's away defence record is actually quite strong. Also taking GW32, 33 and 35 into consideration

Thing about back to back DGWs like Everton & Palace is, even if your players play all four, by half way through the third game they'll be knackered.......so actually more like two & half games...especially defs. For example how many CS in four games for:

    a. Everton (wat, Cpl, SOT, liv)

    b. Palace (NOR, EVE, ars, mun)

    1. GoonerByron
      • 14 Years

0 clean sheets for both I'd say.. Palace outside chance for NOR.. That's why I'm only going with Luk, Barkley and Hennessey (Just because I already own him and he might pick up save points, penalty save or something)

    So the plan is...
    WC GW32,
    Lukaku TC GW33,
BB GW34 with 15 DGW players,
    Field 11 in GW35,
Manoeuvre for as many DGW players as possible (max 11) for GW37

How do you all rate the below WC team please? Any suggestions?

    DDG, Robles
    Sakho, Clyne, Bellerin, Janmaat, Dann
    Lennon, Sanchez, Ozil, Payet, Coutinho
    Kun, Lukaku, Wickham

I will swap Robles for Darlow between GW33 and GW34 then roll the other FT

    Before GW35 I'll swap Dann-PVA and Wickham-Defoe to give me 11 starters

...then use FT's to field as many DGW players as possible (up to 11) in GW37

What could possibly go wrong, RIGHT!? πŸ˜›

The site definitely looks too zoomed in on desktop browser. On a 1080 screen the main picture article and heading takes up the entire screen, seeing nothing else below it.. Makes the picture look huge. Doesn't look quite right.

I'm not completely sold on the new site. I liked the old version fine, and I always access the site on a smartphone. Maybe my age makes me resistant to change...
But seriously, not having a timestamp on comments is disconcerting. If I don't know how long ago something was posted, then I don't know how relevant a reply may be. I'm generally on in the DZ, so maybe this is not as much of a concern when comments are moving fast.

If getting Janmaat and Klose... who would you prefer to go with them?

    Ruddy? or Darlow?

Ruddy rotates better and is better looking long term (DGW37)
Darlow plays behind a better defence, but only marginally, and is cheaper by 0.2m

    1. Dr Kenneth Noisewater
      • 12 Years

Both seem to be improving, but I fancy Darlow. Always liked him in the Championship - think he's a dead cert or emergency keeper loan will come in?

Does that ever so slight risk mean I should play "safe" with Ruddy who's at least 100% nailed?

        Rotates well with Migs too.

I know we were all gearing up for Elliot - but are we that desperate for DGW players that we'll continue with plan but now bring in Newcastle's 3rd choice keeper?

    1. Dr Kenneth Noisewater
      • 12 Years
      9 years, 8 months ago

Because we thought Elliot was going to guarantee CS? I think Darlow has as much a chance, will pick up some save points, and I can't justify a £1m increase in keeper to get Mignolet.

Back to the business at hand:
For a gw33 wc, I really want a City defender. Nice home fixtures in 33 and 35, and the double in 34 is not terrible. But who?
Otamendi is an idea, but sooo expensive. Clichy fits the budget, but surely Kolarov gets a game soon? Mangala looks like a good pick until Kompany is back, but if that is for gw35, that lessens Mangala's appeal... I'm turning around in circles.
Maybe I should just bite the bullet and go for Otamendi. Downgrade Smalling to Rojo... to make room in the budget.
    Thoughts? Thanks.

    1. Dr Kenneth Noisewater
      • 12 Years

Otamendi was my only contender. DGWs + Euro matches will surely see the old full back rotation come around once more. Uncles Hart is back, I think Nicolas is your best shout.
