Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Waited all season for dbg and ended taking a minus 8 to cover injuries. Then saw fosu-mensah, lingard, martial, clichy and mitro dropped- not in the plan. Plus changed captaincy from aguero

It's become clear that many of my ML rivals who I would observe to be less serious on FPL have sussed this right out.

They may not have WC last week but they've taken hits to field decent teams this week along with a BB or TC and most will need a maximum of one hit to get 11 out next week.

It's not been quite the white wash that was predicted and it's certainly another learning point for next season.

I going to go and look up at them longingly from mid table over a stiff drink (of tea).

You couldn't predict City and Pool in the semis of CL and EL, and all this rotation. Still think this was the best week for BB, 20+ players still to go for most of us

I'm in that group. Took a few hits. Ended up with nine doublers and played bench boost. Got 41 (-8) with twenty one still to play. Most importantly, I'm the only one near the top of my minileague to captain Aguero.

It's relative to your leagues - In my office league of 30 I'm the top scorer with 62 by about 21 points. There are about 11 teams with less than twenty points, with three with single figures.

Also, in that article I was referring to Ryan Grzegowski who was, at the time, the FPL number one.

Here's his team at the moment without the WC in 33 and BB.....

        http://fantasy.premierleague.com/entry/157540/event-history/34/

He's gambled on Firmino captain - presumably because he realised he'd need something out of the ordinary.

He's beating us all and is a great manager having a great season. I just can't see him winning it as a result of those around him playing WC and BB, and that was purely down to bad luck with the DGW's falling as they have. That was my point back in that Pre-amble.

If he can stem the tide with the Firmino armband then he's pulled off a masterstroke and deserves to stay in the race.

          Well that;s a good thing.

That quote could be seen as a "smug" quote but, in isolation is out of context - I wasn't talking up the chips and the gap they produce as a good thing. I don't want the FPL audience divided by the chips and knowledge of how to use them. That was the basis of the article.

If we're all saying this morning that we don't think the BB has had an impact then I'm happier about that.

I still think it's had a major impact on all ranks. Take a look at the top 50 and look at the disparity between the scores. There's swings of 20-30 points or more between the top players - you never see that in a regular Gameweek.

Oh I agree with you mark. The community is taking the negative outcome way too seriously. Chips will always have a great impact and planning around them will lead to a positive rank 8 times out of 10. Not a huge fan of the variance myself but does make the game interesting.

I actually think the injuries and rotation experienced this gameweek has much more to do with it. Anyway I don't understand coming to conclusions about a gameweek that has so much of it left to play.

Indeed. Let's see if it evens out. My money would be on the BB managers widening the gap - logically, that should happen but much depends on teamsheets I guess.

I'm not having a go Mark, I just wasn't a fan of the attack on Ryan, but I guess that comes with 3 million people wanting to be you.

I do actually agree with you. I'd just change it slightly:

"Hordes of baffled FPL managers will log in on Friday April 22nd and wonder why their overall and mini-league rank has fallen through the floor. They’ll have no choice but to sit and wave through a procession of FPL managers, fully prepared for Gameweek 34 and well versed in how to exploit it"

Come on, it wasn't an "attack".

You can mount an argument that it was a touch patronising, but most would say it was just a passive analysis of a few bits of information.

It wasn't an attack on Ryan - I was just citing Ryan as an example of how I felt the DGWs and the chips would change the season.

How often, with eight weeks to go, do we look at the FPL leader and write him off. Hardly ever.

This season, I just felt that he was at a major disadvantage because of the fact he'd played his chips and was unfortunate to see the DGW's drop so nicely for those who kept them back.

I was not having a go - I actually felt it was a little unfair. In any other season, the DGW's would not have the same impact and turn the ranks upside down.

Maybe he can still stay in the race but I would put money on the fact that he's gone Firmino as captain as a sign that he also realised he needed to do something special in the light of the BB and TC being used against him.

          Fair enough.

The fact he didn't use his TC this week does kind of undermine my defence of him!

Honestly, the idea of 15 X 2 performers in a congested part of the season with cups climaxing was always a pipe dream.

Many people enjoy the planning and poring over stats and permutations though, so that in itself, is having fun with the game.

Because it could never be perfect there are bound to be stories of woe on the board. Inevitable.

      C'est la vie.

I think you miss the point of 15 DGWers. In any DGW there is rotation, whether you have 5DGWers or 15 you can still suffer the same fate. So it's a matter of how many tickets you buy and hoping as quantity will deliver 'some' quality. It helps when you increase your odds of success

So at the start of the season, I just relished the thought of Aguero triple captain. I was offered NEWCASTLE in a DGW. And he has gone ahead to get probably 30 points in a DGW, which leads to 90 points in total.

And I passed it up. We passed it up.

I am not despondant. I have 28pts with 21 still to play including (c) x2. If they all get at least 1pt I should still beat anyone who had TC on Kun and no-one else playing 😀

But in all seriousness, there are still a lot of games to play and no doubt a few more shocks and surprises to come.

I suspect they are trying to see whether he is capable of forming part of Conte's key personnel next season I.e. First 18 every week, frequent starter.

So he has a much higher chance of playing that most imo. I can see others rotated first.

That's very tough. There are plenty of wonderful footballers that were nothing to shout about a handful of performances into their career (by which I mean, top competition not league cup).

The managers that work with him obviously deem him to be a better player than you do.

I hope he does get a chance, but I think Chelsea will buy heavy in the summer. It doesn't seem like Abramovic to have Loftus-cheek in the XI when he can spunk 90m on a Payet...

We don't need to spunk 90m on a Payet like player. We just need to make smarter decisions imo. Signing of Conte is very good IMO. He made Juventus to what it is today.....Loftus-Cheek is a typical English mid....I do not see him getting many chances under Conte. Traore however....

The do need to comply with homegrown rules for European competition though. So they do need a pool of players that can fill that quota.

I think they have to spend big, but I'm expecting a centre-back to be a key purchase. Probably a couple. They have plenty to offload so it's going to be a big summer for them isn't it

The ones that are out of loan have to go through the process that RLC is now: trying to integrate with the team and get up to the speed/standard of top level games.

      I think it will happen.

I think you'll need to have tripled Kun. Him to get another 6-10 points (18-30) against new.
