Roy Hodgson is less than happy with the displays of Peter Odemwingie. Neil Warnock reveals Heidar Helguson is a doubt for QPR’s trip to Norwich, while Emmanuel Adebayor feels money may prevent him joining Spurs on a permanent basis:

With a home game against Spurs this weekend, the last thing Roy Hodgson needs is a depleted squad. This morning, however, it was revealed that the Baggies are sweating on the fitness of Peter Odemwingie, Paul Scharner, Graham Dorrans and Shane Long ahead of Saturday’s showdown. While Odemwingie and Scharner have both missed the last two league games for West Brom, Dorrans and Long have recently returned from spells on the sidelines. The former, however, picked up an ankle injury towards the end of the weekend win over Bolton, while Long has suffered a leg injury in training and is currently a doubt.

Hodgson was a little less than complimentary about Odemwingie’s performances this term and questioned the player’s commitment. Odemwingie has scored just twice this season after a debut campaign saw him grab 15 goals and 9 assists for the Baggies and his manager is clearly losing patience:

I’m frustrated because we’ve got nothing out of him this year. He didn’t take part in many of the pre-season matches and he hasn’t taken part in many of the matches since then. It’s been one problem after another. For a player who we really put so much into in the hope that he will be our major force for staying in the Premier League, we have not had a return on that at the moment.

Neil Warnock has revealed his on-form striker Heidar Helguson is a doubt for the trip to Norwich. Helguson has scored 5 goals in five games since being handed a first-team opportunity but has failed to train this week. Luke Young was removed from the win at Stoke due to a knee problem and the QPR boss is hopeful the full-back will start training tomorrow.

Royston Drenthe has been talking up his flourishing left flank partnership with Leighton Baines after Saturday’s win over Wolves. The Dutchman has been fielded on both wings by David Moyes this season but is looking likely to stay on the left, as he revealed the Everton boss has been encouraging him to work in tandem with Baines during games:

At the moment I am playing with one of the best left-backs in the world. Leighton has really good qualities. We had a good relationship right from the beginning and that is really important. He can understand me and I can understand him – I am really happy to play with someone like that. The gaffer gave me some jobs to do, to help Bainesy. It is important that when I am on the pitch I play and fight for the team.

Despite his manager’s assurances that he would be fit for last night’s Benfica match, Wayne Rooney missed out altogether. The United man picked up a hip injury in the narrow win at Swansea on Saturday evening and still remains a doubt for this weekend’s home clash with Newcastle. Sir Alex Ferguson explained last night:

He wasn’t fit for tonight, so we need to wait to see what he is like over the next few days. We will give him every chance, of course – we did for today but he wasn’t really fit, so we’ll just have to wait.

There’s no doubt of the positive impact Emmanuel Adebayor has had on the Tottenham team since moving to White Hart Lane on loan. Spurs have won eight and drawn one of the nine league games he’s played in and only last week, Rafael Van der Vaart praised the Togo international for an upturn in his own performances. A permanent deal, however, may hit a stumbling block due to Adebayor’s extraordinary wages. Man City still pay £100K of his £170K wages and with Spurs pay structure meaning Van der Vaart is the highest paid squad member on £70K per week, Adebayor admitted that, despite the move rekindling his love of the game, money could be the deciding factor:

We all play football to get money. I’m from Africa and I have to give something back to my community. I will keep doing this until the end of my career. I’ll leave it to Harry Redknapp, Daniel Levy and Khaldoon Al Mubarak to find a solution among themselves. For me, what is important is to enjoy myself on the pitch. But I am having big fun here with this team. We are all laughing. I feel just like a baby.

Joe Riley is a major doubt for Bolton’s home game with Everton after picking up a hamstring problem in training. The young right-back has been Owen Coyle’s preferred right-back in the Trotters’ last two games, starting ahead of Gretar Steinsson in the back-four.

Ronald Zubar played forty-five minutes of Wolves’ reserve clash with Arsenal last night and is fit and available ahead of the trip to Chelsea. With regular right-back Richard Stearman sidelined with a broken wrist, Zubar looks likely to get the nod for the Stamford Bridge outing.

Mick McCarthy has challenged the rest of his squad to prove themselves ahead of a busy Christmas schedule for the Midlands outfit. The December 4th game against Sunderland is the first of seven fixtures in the space of twenty-nine days and the Wolves boss admits he will be looking to rotate in order to get the most of his players over the festive period:

There are a lot of games coming up with the Christmas period. Games come a little bit thicker and faster than they do at the moment from Saturday to Sunday. There might be a need for change so everyone has got to be fit and raring to go.

Reports today suggest Carlos Tevez could be lined up for a short-term loan deal with AC Milan. A six-month arrangement has been suggested, with the option of a two-year deal to follow, with Milan number two Mauro Tassotti allegedly admitting the club are interested.

Nicolas Anelka could be free to leave Chelsea in January, according to reports. With the Frenchman’s contract expiring at the end of the season, he’s been quoted as saying the idea of finishing his career at Stamford Bridge is ”not to be”.

True, but I have neither team at the mo and worried by Chelsea killing Wolves really.

        I have...

        Silva/VDV/Walters/Brunt/Eagles
        Aguero/RVP/Bendtner

        Agreed.

I'm personally going in with only Sturridge of these teams and still feel relatively confident with my line up, albeit if I had Rooney/Jones/Lampard/Mata I would be playing them.

Purely on the fixtures alone, I can see Chelsea outscoring United, however as proven last week, it is difficult to predict line-up or likely contributors.

Aye, I can see Chelsea scoring quite a few, but who the points scorers will be, is anyones guess. I can see the points being spread in the Chelsea team, whereas with Man Utd, perhaps Chico might get a couple of goals and take all the points. Hard to call.

Villa were pretty poor on Monday night EF. Emile friggin Heskey is getting worse by the game, a total embarassment. VDV didn't even have the decency to score either of their goal. All in all a hugely frustrating night.

haha yeah I agree. I facepalm every time Heskey touches the ball. Was bad enough getting totally dominated like that without VDV not even at least easing the pain for us. I have a feeling it's going to be a very worrying next few weeks.

Neither IMO cos most of their players are prone to being rested either due to injury/CC/UCL.

IMHO I'd want one def from Sun/Sto & one attacking player from Qpr/Nor.

Good bet to knock in a few goals, not so good a bet for clean sheets. You can probably get the same sort of output from a cheaper player.

I'm guessing you mean Newcastle Utd rather than Manchester Utd, but it is notable considering the Man City (and Newcastle) defensive hype and the Arsenal defensive slams I've seen here that they all have the same number of clean sheets.

Cracking player. Likely to get goals and best chance of bonus out of Arsenal defenders. Any defender at that price is a punt but I`m considering him for next week (already used my trandfers this week).

It`s between Ramsey and Sinclair out for either Richards and Sess OR Ben Arfa and ?Vermaillen.

Feel like Ramsey is not gonna get too many assists as Arsenal seem to be getting a lot of joy from wide areas at the moment.

with Helguson being a doubt I’m debating whether to switch to a diffeent 5 millionish striker. Graham looks like the best bet, but I have Vorm, Allen and Sinclair, thus ruling out Graham without taking one of them out. Any other suggestions or should I just get Helgs and risk playing him, knowing I have Allen or Sincs to come off bench?

Well if you captain RVP and he only plays 5 minutes, you don't lose much since everyone will captain him and be in the same boat. If he scores a hattrick and you're captaining Bendtner who can't score if his life depends on it, then your going to be screwed.

    Team ATM

    Scezney/Vorm

    Walker Jones Raylor Kompany Enrique

    Silva Drenthe Walters Bale Barton

    Suarez RVP Bendtner

I'm thinking with Jones as my only Man u cover i need Hernandez or maybe Rooney in a week or 2.

I could upgrade Bendtner to Rooney in a couple of weeks (Suarez fixtures improve by then)
but that means downgrading Silva who i think will drop form soonish.(despite the fact he's amazing)

Only got 1 free transfer so I can't do it this week unless I take a hit which I don't think is really necessary.

I guess what I'm trying to say is should I be desperate for united cover before the weekend or should i just leave it this week and stop being such an impatient little f*ck. (I'm not that little)

think RvP will play as for Jones, personally I think he will play, Smalling is not match fit, and Carling Cup in midweek is a better chance to start him for match fitness then a big league game.

        Suarez -> Ade FT, imo.

Given that Man Utd aren't scoring freely at the moment I wouldn't lose too much sleep over not having any cover for this weekend. That said, I'd rather have Hernandez than Suarez if you have enough cash in the bank to make that switch.

well Micah has only missed 1 game, and has played the full 90 9/12 wks, so I wouldn't worry too much about his spot.

Verm will score goals - no doubt, but I think for cleanies you'd like City over Arse.

they will both get offensive pts, but add on clean sheets you gotta like the Citeh option

spurs rarely keep clean sheets. BAE doesn't really contribute much anyway throughout a season. Go for someone who is cheap, consistently playing well and gets the odd goal or two. shawcross is a good choice.

BAE is cheap for a top 6 team and Spuds have been quite tight at the back this season with King fit and Friedel between the sticks. He gets forward too, so goal/assist potential on top.

Good punt I say, esp with their run of games and the dgw looming.

personally I'd go for Young, he's on set pieces (minus pens, though if Rooney doesn't play and we get he'd be my pick to step-up) he's a little cheaper and with Nani's lack of form and inconsistency he offers more points scoring potential.

Of course if Nani gets firing again he could blow everyone away.

          Simpson Naylor Gabbidon Wilkinson McAuley
          VDV Nani Sinclair B.Johnson Moses
          Rooney Aguero RVP

2 frees, 0 in the bank.

Tricky Dickie, you simply must play Studge. Changed the game last week at H/T, and the only blue that looks like scoring from open play right now.

I defo play Richards (good shout) over Enrique, MC look more likely to CSW of the two despite Anfield venue. I'd start Ramsey myself. Gooners have much better chance of high score than NOR, and hopefully Rammy starts to wake up. Also, if Ramsey plays tonight he may get benched, but have Pilko first sub.

Simples, as a well known Meerkat might say.

    Hello Friends!
    My brothers team is-

    Begovic/Vorm
    R Taylor,M Richards,J Bosingwa,S Ward/C Berra
    G Bale,J Milner,J Walters,C Adam/H Ben Arfa
    RVP(c),S Aguero,D Ba.

He likes to do Bosinwa->Ivanovich , Begovic->Westwood or S Aguero->N Bendtner. with 1 transfer left and 0.2 in bank.
Right now he is on top position of Fantasy Football Cheat manager of the month(November).
And with Bosingwa not playing he is tempted to sell him for Ivanovich(only).
To do so he needs to free up cash by selling Begovic or Aguero and then there will be a 4 point hit.
    Is it good?
He will sell bosingwa for ivanovic only, none other than him and with wolves next up for Chelsea he is adamant to do it.
And by using 2 transfer he will get -4 which may push him down and he wont be able to claim the prize.
His nearest opponent is on same point 154 within these 2 gws.
    What to do?
    Please sugget guys.
Should he go for 2 transfers?

i asked my brother and he advised:

      Aguero > Klasnic
      Begs > Westy

then again, my brother is quite mad.

      and imaginary.

    Current team is

    Westwood (Ruddy)
Brown - BAE - Kompany (SImpson, Enrique)
Nani - VDV - Walters - Dyer (Moses)
    RVP - Aguero - Sturridge

Got 1 free transfer and 1.9m in the bank.

Not sure whether to transfer in a Defender with better fixtures for this week or finally get rid of Dyer/Moses for somebody up to 6.6m.

My crystal ball is getting repaired, and the tea leaves have become dry, so in the absence of Nostrodamus, Torres fail. Big fail. Again. He's lost the plot. Have you watched him lately? Terrible, just awful.

Score, he's really impressed me recently. His movement, creativity, skill and overall ability is just staggering!! What a player. He'll score at least a double hat-trick this weekend. Give him the armband not RVP. RVP is injured, so make sure you put him on your bench as 3rd sub.
