The draw for the first round of the 2019/20 FFS Cup FFS Cup

An astonishing 2,216 fantasy football teams did battle last weekend, in an attempt to qualify for the first round proper of Fantasy Football Scout’s Paddy Power Cup V. With our four previous winners safely installed in next weeks opener, there were only 1,020 places up for grabs…

As expected, the standards were exceptionally high and an automatic qualification score of 62 was set. [Remember, this is after points spent on transfers are deducted.]

A total of 990 fantasy managers made that grade, meaning that the 108 managers stranded on 61 had to rely on their overall rank to fill the remaining 30 spots. The full list of results can be found right here.

Qualifying by the skin of his teeth is 45,465th in the world, woodpecker, who takes the 1,020th and final spot. In contrast, 45,750th in the world, don parcheesi, misses out by the narrowest of margins (a single transfer).

Commiserations to everyone who misses out – a list which includes all but five of the Scout Contributors.

The draw for Round One will be made shortly and will go live on the site at least 24-hours before the gameweek 13 deadline.

I can field a decent side this week but am considering a hit to replace Agbon with Yakubu or Sturridge. However, I have the cup to contend with and hits really hurt. Anyone care to rationalize one way or another?

Missed out again, but knew that 59 wouldn't be enough. Third or fourth straight cup I miss out on 😥

      Nope - they didn't qualify.

I think Ivory Coast, Ghana and Senegal are the notable ones who've qualified - Ba, Drogba, Toure, Gervinho etc.

Two wolves chase down a young bison and seperate it from the herd, you feel sorry for the bison, then the bison starts attacking one of the wolves and I'm rooting for the wolf, what a programme. In the end the wolfwins, their fight lasts for over an hour. But I think both are seriously injured.

Um... if 1,020 places are up for grabs, that leaves 510 after the first week.

    Then 255.
    Then, er, 127.5.

Or are four teams going to join later?

Really tempted to do Woodgate & Dunne -> Verm & Naylor (2 freebies). This, or just a straight Dunne -> P Jones transfer this week? I'm 0.2m short of doing a straight Dunne -> Verm.

If 2216 entered why not add an extra round where you would include 2044 (+4) of those teams?

Because we'd have to include about 1,000 rubbish managers.

I'm very rubbish but I still made the grade. It's all luck really. Had Ade only got one, I'd be out.

      Eventually (next season) we will.

We've only ever done 512-team competitions in the past, but felt we had to double it this year because of the sheer number of entries. Poor SUPERIOR BEING's hardware is creaking with a round of 1024, but we'll deliver it. Then, as I say, we can grow again next season.

Also, we hope to squeeze in another 2 competitions this season, so they will have to overlap. If we added another round to each, that's three more weeks of overlap and it becomes a bit too congested.

I would've liked to start earlier than GW12, but the FPL history page (from which we take the scores) was only fully-restored to what it was last season a few weeks ago.

For the first 7-8 GW's I didn't think we'd be able to bring it back but, alas, they sorted it.

Anyone think rvp may be rested over the weekend? Should I (dare I say it) strip him of captaincy?

Nope. I assume Wenger & Mancini have an "agreement" not to play RVP & Aguero in the CC.

Wenger is no fool, Arsenal can beat Fulham without RVP. He'll play in the CC.
