The draw for the first round of the 2019/20 FFS Cup FFS Cup

An astonishing 2,216 fantasy football teams did battle last weekend, in an attempt to qualify for the first round proper of Fantasy Football Scout’s Paddy Power Cup V. With our four previous winners safely installed in next weeks opener, there were only 1,020 places up for grabs…

As expected, the standards were exceptionally high and an automatic qualification score of 62 was set. [Remember, this is after points spent on transfers are deducted.]

A total of 990 fantasy managers made that grade, meaning that the 108 managers stranded on 61 had to rely on their overall rank to fill the remaining 30 spots. The full list of results can be found right here.

Qualifying by the skin of his teeth is 45,465th in the world, woodpecker, who takes the 1,020th and final spot. In contrast, 45,750th in the world, don parcheesi, misses out by the narrowest of margins (a single transfer).

Commiserations to everyone who misses out – a list which includes all but five of the Scout Contributors.

The draw for Round One will be made shortly and will go live on the site at least 24-hours before the gameweek 13 deadline.

    Anyone else think Song is the best player in the Arsenal team, without him we would be mildly screwed in my opinion.

        I believe that we could replace RVP and still win matches though, its just a whole lot easier with him playing the offside trap

          RVP is our best player by miles. He wins matches on his own. Song doesn't. I actually think Song is a rotation risk when Wilshere comes back.

            +1 Song had a stormer of an assist and shows signs of brilliance occasionally but RVP is doing it week after week. Without RVP Arse look average.

            I think Wilshere will rotate with Arteta more than Song. And Santos definetely wont play without Song for back up.

              I think Ramsey, Arteta, Wilshere & Song will all get rotated when fit. Also throw Diaby into that rotation mix now and again.

                Wilshere-Arteta rotation
                Song-Frimpong rotation
                Ramsey-Rosicky-Diaby rotation

                Ramsey desperately needs some time off, dont want another major injury.

                But I agree the central midfield will start to get rotated a lot more.

                  Song + Wilshere will be nailed on. Ramsey and Arteta will rotate with Arteta playing most games. Also, Cocquein seems to have gone above Frimpong in the pecking order.

          he can be a bit loose with his passing sometimes, but other than that he's been great... need someone to panic and run back into leftback when santos dissappears!! which idiot let him have number 11?! he seems to be playing his shirt number instead of his position!

        Don't know. Park? Chamakh? Walcott central and Chamberlain out the right? They can beat Fulham without him, I honestly believe Wenger thinks RVP is on the edge, he said a few weeks ago he had to praise the physio's for getting RVP fit and he was touch and go, I dont think he'll chance it again.

      RVP will not play in the Carling Cup or champions league. In the latter he is not needed, and it is against Wenger's principles to play him in the Carling Cup.

    My team would then be:

    Spare a thought for Borussia Dortmund's wounded players: Sven Bender's fractured jaw is so serious that he can't be transported to Germany and so he will be operated on in London tonight or tomorrow. Mario Götze's knock to the knee, however, doesn't look too serious.

    Quick vote guys: 2 freebies and 1.0m in the bank. Need to act soon if going for d) or e) as price rises imminent....

    a) Woody & Dunne -> Naylor & Verm
    b) Woody & Dunne -> McAuley & Verm
    c) Moses & Dunne -> Tiote & Verm
    d) Dunne -> P Jones
    e) Dunne -> Richards

    Westwood, Ruddy
    Dunne, Wilko, Brown, Woody, Simpson
    Silva, VDV, Ramsey, Sinclair, Moses

      Was initially going to say d (Utd fixtures much better than City). I see you don't have Vorm though so maybe a for Swansea defensive cover and Verm has potential for big scores.

        Yeah, I'm pretty much between a) and d). Problem with d) is I'm concerned P Jones will get rested this week after playing 4 games in 10 days. Problem with a) is that Naylor doesn't rotate with Wilko/Woody, so I'd have poor options in defence for GW14,16 & 17....

      I like A as a differential, although Arsenal don't look like keeping to many cleanies so will rely on attacking points.

      I have Jones but a rotation risk. Richards looks the best bet but bad fixtures, how about A) till City's fixtures clear up the change Verm to Richards?

        Yeah, that could be a good strategy. What about f) Dunne & Moses -> Verm & Ferguson (and accept I'll only have 2 subs each week)? Will then give me enough to do Woody -> either Hibbert or Ward next week (they have much better fixtures and rotate perfectly with Wilko/Woody up to the Jan wildcard? I'm opposed to getting Ferguson normally, but I've never had to use 3 subs - possibly worth it to get those defenders in over Naylor?

    I have no such worries about the PPC this season.

    I got a ridiculously pants 49 points so I was nowhere even near a sniff of the panties that the PPC had discarded on the top step of the stairs in it's haste to get into bed with FFS.

    I wish you all the best of success lads and lasses that made it.

    For those of us that didn't? Yay, points hits ahoy without worrying about getting knocked out on transfers!!!

      I actually think this cup thingy will do me good. I've been trying to take as few hits as possible (2 so far this season, and that's a big improvement on last season) and as long as I stay in the cup it may help keep me on track.

        Completely agree. I'm in the millions for total rank, which has a great deal to do with my penchance for tinkering. Hoping this will make me think of my transfers with a little more thought of the -4 impact!

    Ive taken hits to prepare myself for December’s MOTM, from now on only FTs will occur until the end of the season, hits are done with for now (Its my first fantasy season so I’ve been testing different team setups and seeing what I can learn to go on and win things next year).

    The only issue now is my team makes choosing an 11 difficult this week

    Vorm Krul
    BAE Enrique Taylor Jones Richards
    Silva Bale Walters Ramsey Nani
    Morison Adebayor RVP.

    Who would you leave out? I’m thinking of subbing Krul, Taylor, Morison and then I’m stuck between benching BAE Enrique or Jones.. :\

    Here's some facts to add to the equation:

    Morison has scored in the last 4 games he's played 90 mins in, he's at home to qpr.
    Liverpool, city and newcastle all have the lowest conceding rate at 11 goals each all season.

      Play Morison.

      Bench Krul, BAE, Taylor and Ramsey?

    Got rid of the deadwood for an 8 point hit before knowing it was the cup, would have had 63 without the changes, gutted.

    Not sure whether to upgrade the deadwood in my team, or one of the bigger boys

    £1.9m in the bank

    Kompany > Baines
    Ramsey > Bale
    Rodwell > ???

      Does the Baines transfer leave the rest of your team unbalanced? Otherwise, Ramsey > Bale (Ramsey's decent contribution is not converting into Fantasy points).

        Agreed. Had Ramsey for the last few weeks not worth it.

        Larsson is a far better call, and great fixtures!
