Alexis Sanchez grabs both goals as Arsenal sweep aside West Brom in the final fixture of Gameweek 34. Aaron Ramsey supplies both assists upon his return to the starting XI, whilst Gabriel drops to the bench as the Gunners earn a fifteenth shut-out of the season.

Sanchez at the double

Arsenal leapfrogged Manchester City into third spot by virtue of a 2-0 win over West Bromwich Albion.

Alexis Sanchez grabbed his second and third goals of the Gameweek, meaning he’s now produced attacking returns (six goals, three assists) in each of his previous seven starts. The Chilean subsequently ended Gameweek 34 on 25 points, just one less than Sergio Aguero, in what proved a titanic armband tussle between the duo. Considering that Mesut Ozil served up his sixth blank in seven outings, Sanchez has established himself as the clear favoured route into Arsenal’s attack ahead of showdowns with three of the current bottom four.

Drafted in for Francis Coquelin, Aaron Ramsey supplied the assists for both goals. Although the Welshman’s price tag (7.8) could furnish us with an alternate source of Gunners coverage, his lack of security of starts keeps him on the periphery of our thinking.

At the expense of Gabriel, Per Mertesacker made his first start in five fixtures and earned a single bonus point, whilst Olivier Giroud usurped Danny Welbeck as the Gunners’ lone striker. In both cases, one would imagine that the displaced player will regain their starting berths at Sunderland next time out, yet the uncertainty will likely prompt owners to explore their options given that Gameweek 35 is already without three fixtures.

Arsenal enjoyed their third clean sheet in five match-ups, positioning them joint-second for shut-outs (15) this term. With home matches against Norwich City and Aston Villa also still to follow, the North Londoners still boast strong clean-sheet potential in their final quartet of fixtures.

Baggies season stutters to a standstill

West Brom slumped to their fourth defeat in five outings as they managed a solitary shot on target at the Emirates.

Bearing in mind that Tony Pulis’ side have scored just once in the last five matches, investors in Spurs’ defence will be buoyed ahead of their duel at White Hart Lane on Monday. Indeed, having managed just a single clean sheet over that period, and with showdowns against West Ham United and Liverpool also to follow, those still holding the Baggies’ assets will surely be looking for a way out now.

So how do we rate Brom defensively after that performance? Captain for this week?

Aguero, Sanchez, Kane, Pelle, Mane, Mahrez are the contenders.

Having only achieved my 4th top 100k GW score for the DGW, but having finally made it into the top 10k, I've realised that consistency is the key, for me at least. I've had 12 red arrows this season so far, but SIX of them came before GW10. I'm incredibly pleased with how things are going!

RP, thoughts on this lot ?

    Darlow
    Lovren, Bellerín, Simpson, Sakho, Gabriel
    Coutinho, De Bruyne, Sánchez
    Agüero

Not playing: Robles, Lanzini, Payet, Lukaku, Martial

    1FT 0.8 ITB

    A) Martial, Lukaku -> Defoe, Kane ( gives me Gabriel on the bench )
    B) Coutinho, Martial -> Alli, Kane ( no bench )
    C) Martial, Lukaku, Lanzini -> Defoe, Kane, Alli ( Gabriel and Lovren on the bench )

I'm going for a 8 point hit here, here is the plan:

    Dann to PVA
    Martial to Kane

But then cant decide on either

Clichy to A) Alderweireld or B) Azpilicueta

What a GW. No chips left so feared the worst but managed 149 and moved up to my highest ever OR of 1,495. Big thanks to everyone on here who did so many DGW planning articles and spreadsheets, really helped.

    Who to bench (luxury problem)?
    A) Bellerin (sun)
    B) Clyne (NEW)
    C) Simpson (SWA)

Hmm, B could bench himself but I'd bench A.

Bench A, good chance of auto-sub

Who are we thinking of picking as TC GW37? Kind of afraid to go with any Liverpool players so maybe Payet but his form is patchy at best..

Would genuinely opt for an Arsenal player in GW38, probably Sanchez. Villa at home is a hammering waiting to happen.

Wow, I actually never considered that. That Villa side is shocking so if there's security of starts then who knows?

Kings of Lyon if you are about, thanks for the advice you gave me on WC re: Sanchez v Ozil/KDB. Paid dividends. Holding you personally responsible for my big rise in rank this week.

Gameweek 34 is now cemented in history for me.

First time in the top 10K all season. OR now 7,857. Highest GWK score of the season and highest ever score 170(-8). For me it now ranks alongside the fabled GWK 8 of the last two years and that year when Rooney score 64 pts as a DGWK captain.

I didn't though. Always said it was a long week. Plenty of others did have a few toys out of the pram moments though.

I definitely had a toys out of pram moment and actually, despite a 176 (-4) score, which is by far my best score ever and also climbing to my highest rank oft he season, I still feel a bit miffed because my ML leader TC'ed Aguero (which got more points than my bench boost) and he had Gomes in net. I'm only ten points behind now after the much better mid-week take but I still think with his small lead and BB chip left I'm done for.

Ah well, season has been poor throughout so a top 15k finish is reasonable.

Congratulations Jonty, I made pretty much the same jump as you this week so this one's definitely going down in the history books for me. As Mark said on the scoutcast last night it had everything; benchings, trolls, big single gameweek scores, huge captaincy scores and both chips working for people. Top stuff.

        This.

The rank swings and the ML positioning swung so wildly I conceded defeat to my main rival a few days back with his Aguero(c).
After last night I am 30 points ahead in the lead. 😆

Amazing week. Screenshot taken and buried in a time-capsule.
