With Gameweek 38’s ten fixtures all taking place on Sunday, we’re still waiting on the majority of press conferences to be rolled out later today. Here’s what we have so far…

Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Mesut Ozil has recovered from the minor hip problem that forced him to miss last week’s draw at the Etihad. Danny Welbeck is ruled out for nine months with the knee injury sustained against City, whilst Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain remains on the sidelines.

Sam Allardyce has revealed he plans to hand some younger players a run out away to Watford after Sunderland sealed their survival at home to Everton in midweek.

Vincent Kompany, David Silva and Pablo Zabaleta remain sidelined for City’s trip to Swansea. Aleksandar Kolarov requires a late fitness test, whilst Samir Nasri is “working normally” with the squad after missing out last weekend due to illness.

Adam Smith and Sylvain Distin are Bournemouth’s only absentees for the trip to Old Trafford, Eddie Howe has confirmed.

Swansea are optimistic that Jefferson Montero will recover from a hamstring problem in time for the weekend home match against Man City. Lukasz Fabianski is set to be rested, along with Ashley Williams, ahead of turning out for Poland in Euro 2016, whilst Gylfi Sigurdsson and Neil Taylor are both injured.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of Sunday’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

    Morning all

How's she looking for this week? 42 points ahead in my ML after a 4 point hit; rival still has TC to play but I should be home + dry, right?

    Darlow
    Bellerin Gabby Toby
    Sanchez (c) Tadic Payet Hazard
    Kun Deeney Lukaku

    Robles / Lanzini PvA Morgan

Good luck to alll in the final GW!

He doesn't have him but I'm 100% sure he'll bring him in and TC, so at least if I have him as (c) he will need a huge score to swing it.

Chips suck. Yes they gave me an undeserved decent rank this season. Which is just another reason why they suck.
FPL keep doing their darndest to increase the role of luck. I'll quit if it keeps going this way

It keeps 'casuals' playing it longer too
And dont think its undeserved rank, you just planned it better-> so maybe even lessen the luck part

Difficult to compare. All the people astounded by the sacking can't have watched much of us in the last 5 months, some of the most turgid football I've seen. I didn't particularly want him to leave, but this is how the Pozzos work. We've now had 7 coaches in 3 years, but have been undeniably successful.

He is a good manager, his failure at Inter wasn't because of him. The management was very bad. The thing the annoyed me with him with him was his post game interviews, he always found something to blame when we lost.

From an FPL point of view, Holebas and Nyom might be FPL gold. He loves a wing back goal, with his 3/5/2 formation.

Yeah I heard about that, definitely won't play well with the English crowd if he's a moaner. If we do play 352 I think he'll buy a couple of wingbacks (Holebas might leave and Nyom is f**king awful), but they'd definitely be good options.

Inter seem to be doing better recently, hopefully they've turned a corner. Do you think Zlatan might come back?

Some people think the team have done well in spite of Flores, not because of him. All the new signing other than Capoue and Britos have been disappointing, and all our top performers have been from the Champ squad. The football in the last few months has been dreadful. I would have been happy to keep him though.

After a disastrous DGW I'm left trailing leader 20 points in cash league.

Question is should I take a gamble and a -4 hit?

    Team atm:

    DDG

    Monreal Cresswell Simps

    Sanchez KDB Townsend Payet Firmino

    Kun Carroll

    // Sturridge / TFM / Delaney

    Was thinking:

Firm & Sturridge out for Mane & Giroud?

    Would you take the hit?

I think you have to. You also have to guess what #1 has. Mane/Tadic is key.. Kane might be a good gamble. He'll captain Sanchez, so if you bring in Giroud, you have to c him I reckon.

Some assistance please, gents and ladies

    a) Under what FEASIBLE conditions could this team lose a 50-point lead?
    b) Is it likely to take me from or keep me in the top 10,000? (currently 8600)

    Mannone
    PVE Bellerin Cresswell
    Payet Sanchez (c) Tadic Hazard
    Martial Defoe Aguero

A massive differential TC is probably the condition in which you'd lose (I have a similar 42 point lead and a fairly similar team to you!)

You'll probably stay in the top 10k yeah, as long as there isn't a disaster 🙂

I have a very similar dilemma this weekend. I prefer B but it depends on what your bench options are. I think Giroud is likely to score more than Tadic / Mane so if you have a decent Firmino replacement on bench go for that.

A is the safe bet so your rival will be doing it. If you're trying to make up 16, you might have to go B though, and captain.

    Bump...

    40 behind 1st in ML, 30 clear of 3rd (1st & 2nd in the money)
    My current XI:
    De Gea
    Smalling Bellerin PVA (Wollsch Huth)
    Hazard Sanchez Payet Firmino (Townsend)
    Kane Carroll Defoe

    His XI from GW37:
    Schmeichel
    Cresswell Simpson Moreno (Olsson Kaboul)
    Sanchez Payet Mahrez Antonio (Watson)
    Aguero Kane Sturridge

Not worried about defending 2nd, all or nothing! 40 a big ask but looking at his team do think i have a chance to catch - Presuming he's going to (c) Sanchez...

    I'm thinking a -4 Firmino & Carroll > KDB & Long?

Then who do I (c)... Currently between Hazard KDB or Long... & Hope Sanchez & Kuhn blank!

    Any advice appreciated!

Good strategy - you'll need the unique points to shift the needle, but a 44 (if you've taken the -4) is a big ask to turn over.

I'd be guessing you'd be looking at KdB or Long for captaincy and hoping for an explosion - would perhaps slightly favour KdB given that Pelle/Rodriguez could limit Long's gametime.

      Good luck.

        Cheers - unlikely i know but reckon I have a 10% shot -

Another alternative is Mane/Tadic & Martial and then flip a coin on who to (c) - what do you think?

I'd guess that Mane would be your best bet there - he's explosive and could net you a pile of differential points if he scores a few.

It's a big ask, so an explosive differential like that is probably your best bet this week.

    Who would you drop

Fantasy Football Scout daily hot topic

What was your biggest single regret this season?

Perhaps you missed out on Aguero's five goals? Perhaps you had too much faith in Chelsea early on? Or perhaps you didn't believe the Leicester hype...until it was too late?

Had Mahrez from the start then dropped him after gw 9 when his form dropped off and he was rotated for a few weeks. Didn't get him back for 8 weeks and missed out on 60+ pts. Season never recovered.

      No Tottenham defender all season
      Selling Kane and Alli GW33

Worst one with regards to my
Mini leagues was captaining Aguero over Kane when Kane got two goals and an assist against BOU

Making exactly the same mistake with Alli as I did Kane last year. Got him really early, before most had cottoned on, but tried to be clever and dropped him at his earliest dip in form, only to get severely punished for weeks.

And of course, Toby > Coleman and Kane > Lukaku for a hit in 33.

I chose Vertonghen over Toby in the early weeks of the season because my ML rival had him and I didn't want to adopt blocking tactics.

ML rival benefitted from a pile of Toby points, whilst not adhering to any sort of code of "honour" and putting in players from my team week by week - at one point we only had the 3 defenders as differentials, allowing him to build a sizable lead (only the DGWs allowed me to break his hold on the league)

Guess others would be astonishingly not benefitting from a single Vardy / Alli haul, but tbh that sort of thing happens every season, and Toby is the one that really stands out to me.

Considering I was ranked 3 million plus after gameweek 2, my regret would be the poor scouting and misjudgement of pre-season form. Putting faith in the likes of Hazard and Kane to continue 2014/5 form badly misfired.

Had too much faith for too long in Chelsea, Hazard was 'bound to score eventually'. Also a little late to the Vardy party. Sold a team that had brought me a lot of green arrows in the weeks before GW 33 and bought lots of uncertainty ( 3 Liverpool, 3 Everton blegh).

He's a fantastic player. I got all his points in the run in of last season and his stellar performance in the opening GW this year certainly didn't do my fantasy stubbornness any good...

Ended up knee-jerking him in whilst the games were still live out of sheer frustration... Turned out to be the defining catalyst towards putting off Mahrez until by GW6, by which time it was already too late.

Tempted to complete the cycle and get Marc back in for Riyad in time for Sunday, no doubt only to see Schlupp start and get maximum points from left mid.

Pre-Christmas. Just couldn't get my head round it.

Chelsea was obviously a major blow, but I blame Mourinho and the complete absence of professionalism at the club, not myself. 🙂

Funnily enough, I don't regret Agüero, and would do the same again, as that timing during those two weeks just did not work for my team.

Enjoyed the Season hugely, obviously - the best in my memory since our Cup win in 1980, and better than '85/6 for me. FPL is fine, but will never compare to the real thing. 🙂

      (CCC)arroll is easy.

But a huge shout-out to my last minute transfer before the GW1 deadline also worked out badly: Butland (4.5) & Mahrez (5.5) > Schwarzer (4.0) & Ashley Young (6.0). Because I believed that Young (he did play LW last season!) was well worth having over Mahrez. Also Schwarzer have me triple Leicester, so I couldn't get Mahrez in until a wildcard. Doh!

Enough regrets to fill a page this season - but biggest regret was not believing in Leicester. That being said, had Mahrez for the whole season, but got Vardy and later Fuchs in way too late.

      Other failures this season were:
      - Sticking too long with Mane and Pelle following their good pre-season
      - Never getting a decent goalkeeper. Have learnt that there's a limit too how cheap one should go even for goalies.
      - Bailing out on TC Sanchez in GW34, going instead with Carroll in GW37.

The glaring errors in retrospect all were done before Christmas, have had a slow climb to get into OR 100k in second half of season

    38. Heels_Over_Head

      Waited too long on Mahrez.
Keeping Lukaku instead of Kane on my Christmas (1st) WC.

Following on yesterday, I think the BB and TC chips are a failure as those who benefitted most from those on average all used them in weeks 34 and 37.

If you could only use those chips in weeks that no team has a DGW, that would be different. As it is, those who thought about it a bit longer crushed those who blew chips early.

Many casuals who used their chips early enjoyed having higher rankings than usual for most of the season, so FPL Towers probably consider them to have been a great success.

And they appear to have been inspired by ideas put forward in a discussion on this site at the end of last season, similar to the recent Hot Topic on chip changes we would like to see for next season.

      Three key things:
      1. Wildcarded in GW5 over the international break. There was (sort of, on paper) a fixture swing, and I thought I'd be able to snap up some value with price rises to set me up nicely. In the end though, I got next to no value out of it, should have done it long before GW5 (or left it until well after!), and meant I stubbornly ignored key assets in the meantime (see point 2 for the notable example). I'd never wildcarded early before (always kept it for GW30+ DGWs) but the 2 wildcard split this season provoked me to be foolish.
      2. Got Mahrez in after GW3, which was already 2 weeks later than I should have - mainly because of the GW5 wildcard hanging over me and thinking "he'll drop off, Leicester can't keep that up for long". They did; he did.
      3. Triple Captain Calamity Carroll in GW37. Enough said. Trying to be smart, and the sad part is I really think given the chance I'd do it again...

GW33 WC and getting Martial instead of Carroll for GW34 and putting the armband on him.

Had I just got Carroll, would've captained Sanchez as well. Lost about 35 points there and had more repercussions in the following GWs as well. Lost the lead in my main ML and all the hard work building upto that point of the season went down the drain.

I didn't own Vardy during his record breaking goal spell. Convinced it wouldn't last and then eventually gave in and he stopped scoring.

First wildcard in GW4/5, went for price risers over decent players. Vardy -> Gomis in my transfer history looks particularly poor with hindsight, the fact I kept him for six blanks in a row even worse. Signed Pedro who was projected to rise for two weeks but never did as someone at FPL Towers forget to turn to flick the switch to allow it and then no price rises on the final Friday night topped it off.

WC in GW32 so didn't get Sanchez, TC Lukaku in GW33 to justify WC then my successful bench boost in GW34 largely being negated by ML rivals simply TC Sanchez.

Compounded by some unsuccessful punts since then to try and gain ground on ML leader. Plan on being a dullard with minimal hits next year.

Good work with the rank. What's the rest of your team?

Hoping to make a couple of last minute transfers on sunday once we know the lineups. Gonna be cutting it fine to meet the deadline tho.

Does anyone know which site gets the lineups out the fastest?

i'd advise against this, more likely to miss the deadline than anything

teams come out right on the deadline

    Anyone getting Vardy over Long?

I'm debating the two, think Long may be the better option but do fancy getting in Vardy for sentimental reasons !

Winning 2 leagues by around 40-60 points and I want to do Kane/Martial > Vardy for old times sake 🙂

In zero ways is he their best defender.

Kaboul should be in the France squad based on recent performances....

      Ta, Defoe/Pva/Mannone doubts?

Midfielder Honeyman, left-back Robson and winger Greenwood have all trained regularly with the first-team squad over recent weeks, along with highly-rated Under-18s striker Josh Maja."
Pickford mention further down in article.

I have Defoe and I'll start him as I think he'll get a run-out as he wants to impress Roy
I have PVA and I'll start him because I have to (little risk of a cameo as well)
Pickford I'm 99% sure will start in goal

      Pickford
      Jones O'Shea Brown Robson
      Catts
      Watmore Larsson Rodwell N'Doye
      Defoe

      would be my guess

This seems a decent guess. Still think Defoe will start.

If he said he wants two give the youngsters a run out and two of the main ones are a winger and a cm, why would he play Larsson Rodwell or N'Doye ahead of them. You've literally only put in the left back as a youngster that Allardyce won't have seen play in the PL before

Somebody just started sending me messages on whatsapp asking if i was the sales person they spoke to on the phone this morning. I was with a customer all morning, so it wasn't me, but I asked if she remembered the name so if it was someone I work with, I could pass on the info. She didn't know which office the guy was at, his name or anything. But she sent me a phone number and said 'this was his phone number'...

I'm really confused. I can't get my head around why she's sending messages to my phone number when she has the number of the guy she's looking for.

    I mean... what!?!

Anyway, she's working with me now 😎

Probably A here HvT, there's been a mass Carroll exodus so even if he performs I can't see it hurting your rank too much.

Hows this looking guys, Lanzini > Tadic was my FT.

Think I should take a -4pt hit for anything or G2G?

    Robles
    PvA Smalling Gabriel
    Payes Tadic Hazard Sanchez(c)
    Defoe Aguero Lukaku

    Bench: Darlow Mahrez Delaney Simpson

Yo SS! Looking good, really similar team to me!

Nothing seems worth the -4 here.
