Dimitri Nicolaou has finally been crowned Fantasy Premier League (FPL) champion for 2015/16 after Manchester United and Bournemouth belatedly brought the curtain down on the season last night.

A member of the Fantasy Football Scout league, Dimitri went into the Old Trafford match level with Jack Manners and eight points clear of Ed Masters after the latter pair clawed back significant ground thanks to a 26-point haul from captain Sadio Mane in Southampton’s win over Palace on Sunday.

Dimitri, meanwhile, was left on edge after the decision to play his All Out Attack chip backfired when Jurgen Klopp opted to leave Philippe Coutinho out of Liverpool’s clash with West Brom on Sunday.

Louis van Gaal’s full-strength team sheet eased Dimitri’s fears. Whereas Jack had no players in last night’s match, Dimitri was able to call upon both Chris Smalling and Marcus Rashford for the showdown against Eddie Howe’s side. Ed, meanwhile, was banking on a standout performance from his sole representative, David de Gea, to stand any chance of clambering to the summit.

Smalling did little to help Dimitri’s cause, though. His late own goal not only denied De Gea a share of the Golden Glove and scuppered Ed’s prospects, it saw the centre-half register zero points in the 3-1 home win.

Instead, it was left to Rashford to help seal victory for the new champion. The youngster’s goal and two bonus points earned his owners eight points and saw Dimitri succeed Simon March as the latest to claim the FPL title.

Congratulations go to Dimitri, then, who can now breathe easy after a nerve-jangling 48 hours brought on by Sunday’s postponement. A special mention also goes to Ed – a site regular who posts under the name “Mo Mane Mo Problems”, he finished top of the Fantasy Football Scout members league – whilst Jake Yates also made it another successful season for the site by taking fourth overall.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

So, if you had just won fpl....

...how would you approach next season?

Would you try to retain your crown? Would you keep your normal style of play and hope to get lucky again? Or would you go more "punty" and try to take more risks for fun?

    Good afternoon everyone.

I have a question in rules. Was there a time when a WC was played, the FT of that week was carried to the following week (you have 2 FT the week after the WC) ? I remember this being the case at some point of time but I don't remember when. Certainly wasn't the case with my last WC in GW 33.

So it changed this year? Wasn't the case on my GW 33 WC which costed me an extra hit. Believe it or not, I lost a ML I led since GW 8 and by 80 pts at some point by 3 points. This change in rule cost me so much.

It looked quite alive when he lifted the PL trophy last season.

He's still better than any CB in the England squad with the possible exception of Smalling.

If you call being an ever-present "not lifting a finger".

Winning the PL must have been quite an achievement with a passenger playing every game at centre half.

It was indeed. They were very lucky.

Sadly that same passenger slowed the team down too much this season and Hiddink saw that.

Time for JT to hand in his bus pass.

My current team for the Euro game. Would love some tips. Not feeling good about a 4-3-3.

    Rui Patricio
    Boateng Dier Koscielny Rodriguez (Carvajal)
Alli Ozil Matuidi (Renato Sanches, Ekici)
    Ronaldo(c) Griezmann Muller

Considering dropping one of the big three up top and switching to a 3-4-3...

Not convinced by the sub mids, but it's a strong squad.

Blaise Matuidi maybe has an outside chance of points. Could be decent.

If you look at Matuidi's gametime, he plays more than any other French midfielder/striker. He grabs a couple of goals too. I think he's a solid punt for 7.0. Least prone to rotation if you ask me. Been rested in the last few PSG games too.

I know he's first choice, just wouldn't be completely convinced of his attacking output, which brings the points. Has an outside chance though.

He's a steal for 7.0 imo, the other French players are incredibly overpriced.

I'm not sure he's a steal for 7.0 but I don't think there should be a 1.5 difference between him and Pogba. They're quite similar in fantasy output.

Ronaldo to Janko would be my preferred move to then free up a lot of money for that midfield. Good fixtures and 7 goals in qualifying show he's important to the side, and could be captaincy material vs Hungary by the time we get to Group F.

That's an interesting move...but Ronaldo has amazing fixtures. Worried about dropping him. Plus, who would I pick up in the midfield after that move?

KdB is looking like a must - 5 goals in qualifying and an amazing season, he'll be well rested too coming into the tournament.

I want to fit him in, but would you take De Bruyne+Janko or Crap+Ronaldo? Considering Crap is on the bench.

Well using qualifying stats, Ronaldo scored as many goals as KDB (5) and Janko then got a further 7. Alongside KDB's 2 assists, as raw goal and assist stats that is 31 for KDB, 28 for Janko and only 20 for Ronaldo. If he were to go against previous form and annihilate Hungary and Iceland, he'd still only be looking at a maximum 5 goals for an international tournament, whereas if Janko got 3 goals and KDB a goal and 2 assists, they would still outscore him.

He's called Kamil Grosicki with any luck 😉 although admittedly Milik did set up 5 of Lewa's 13 qualifying goals and scored 6 himself but there will never be as many goals during the tournament as in qualifying and Lewa has the quality to score against anyone whereas Milik tended to only score against the weaker sides - and in their group I wouldn't class Ukraine or even NI as weaker sides.

Haven't played but I'd assume international qualifying would be a better indicator because the players play in a different system internationally.

Indeed. Schooled 3 years in Bayern Munich that actually wanted to extend his contract at the time.

But the big name now out of those 6 are without a doubt Victor Nilsson Lindelöf, starter in Benfica in 2016.
Same defence Pep ahead of their clash in CL said he thought at the time were one of the best in Europe (of course loads of rubbish is said about those you are up against). Victor got his place due to inurys but maintained a starting place when they got fit again.
Scouted by lots of clubs now, big clubs.
Can't see us not starting him with the problems we had defensively for years now.

A little bit. It seemed not to occur to anybody to actually book the pitch, stewards, check with Brady, etc. The club was put in an invidious position, and made to look silly.

The Sullivans are straining every sinew to find an alternative venue. A lot of security stuff has already been stripped out.

So what's the deal with the Euro rules? Can you make subs mid-round or not?

    Currently looking at:
    Sommer, Rui Patricio
    Glik, Dragovic, Hector, Pepe, Bonucci
    Hazard, Perisic, Alaba, Kroos (R.Sanches*)
    Muller Griezmann Milik

(aware that Renato Sanches is unlikely to start but found there's very little value in the sub-6m mids so may as well treat that position as fodder)
