Sunday affords DraftKings managers a trio of Euro 2016 fixtures to construct their squads around as Groups C and D get up and running.

Our next set of player recommendations assess what’s on offer tomorrow as in-form pair Turkey and Croatia square up in the early two o’clock slot before Poland take on Northern Ireland and Germany go head-to-head with Ukraine later in the evening.

Croatia and Turkey both boast fine recent records. The pair have tasted defeat just once in their last 13 and 16 fixtures respectively and Croatia warmed up for their opener with a 10-0 trouncing of San Marino in midweek.

World Champions Germany fired more shots and attempts on target than any side on the road to Euro 2016, whilst Poland arrive as the top scoring team in qualifying.

We’ve assembled our player tips for Sunday’s DraftKings contests below, focusing on a mix of big-money names that are likely to be key figures, along with a sprinkle of value alternatives that may just prove equally vital to our eight-man line-ups.

Matchday 3 Player Picks

Darijo Srna, Croatia – $6100
The Croatia captain’s raids down the flank look vital to his side’s prospects against Turkey. Srna sat third top for crosses amongst defenders in qualifying and has maintained that form in the last four friendlies by earning a trio of assists. Turkey are clearly susceptible to aerial balls – they conceded 22 headed attempts over the group stages, the fourth-worst defensive record – and with target man Mario Mandzukic back in top form, Srna’s supply line could prove decisive.

Jakub Wawrzyniak, Poland – $4100
With three clean sheets in their final four friendlies, Poland’s defence looks worthy of consideration against a Northern Ireland outfit that has scored more than a single goal in just one of their last seven. An injury to first-choice left-back Maciej Rybus has allowed Jakub Wawrzyniak to start two of the final three friendlies. Priced at a kind $X, he produced a cross every 30.4 minutes in qualifying, quicker than the pricier Lukasz Piszczek on the opposite side of the back-four for Adam Nawalka’s side.

Toni Kroos, Germany – $6700
An all-action option in the centre of the park, Kroos was ranked amongst the top five midfielders for both attempts on goal and chances created in the qualifiers. Having averaged 73% possession on the road to France, Germany are likely to dominate proceedings against Ukraine, with Kroos’ ball-winning abilities key to breaking up their opponents’ rapid counter attacks. Number one for corner kicks, the Real Madrid man offers a secure pick at a time where Joachim Lowe is mulling over the make-up of his attack.

Yevhen Konoplyanka, Ukraine – $7100
The Ukraine wide man approaches the tournament in fine fettle after bagging two goals and a pair of assists in his last four outings. Konoplyanka’s pace and trickery on the break will be a vital weapon against Germany if Mikhail Fomenko’s side are to upset the world champions – he won more fouls than any player over the qualifiers. As his nation’s chief creator from open play and dead ball situations, Konoplyanka will be tasked with unlocking a backline that’s managed just a single clean sheet in their last nine matches.

Robert Lewandowski, Poland – $11,200
Given that Thomas Muller could be utilised on Germany’s right flank against Ukraine, we’re turning to Poland’s talisman as our premium DraftKings forward for Sunday’s matches. Top scorer in qualifying with 13 strikes, Lewandowski also supplied a trio of assists and played a part in 51% of his side’s goals. Opponents Northern Ireland can be expected to sit deep and soak up the pressure but considering they mustered a mere three clean sheets on the road to France, the Bayern Munich frontman should be afforded plenty of opportunities to get off the mark.

DraftKings contests for Sunday’s matches are now available, including a $3 entry “Striker” with a $5k prize pot.

DraftKings is available only to those aged 18 or over. Be sure to take note of their Terms and Conditions here.

Leaving a Premier League winner who's scored 24 goals this season on the bench and bringing James Milner on.

anyone heard what was roy's reasoning for leaving going for both Sterling and Lallana over Vardy?

Vardy isn't that good he is a one trick pony who relies on a long ball over the top you don't get much of that in international football

which is what you need round 70mins once your team has been harrowing that long and their defenders legs are going

"wight team.. when vardy comes on sit back a bit to the half way line.. brock up.. then fweed him owver the top"

my reasoning is, vardy is both deserving of having started ahead of sterling and lallana. if he doesnt play well, bifg deal, take him out for studge/lallana, sterling etc...but what does a guy have to do to start (vardy being a top goal scorer this yr))

Lallana had a good game imo and he could have scored. Sterling wasn't great tonight and Vardy probably wouldn't have done much worse . If England were one down after 79 mins then I think Vardy would have come on . I also think they would have had to play a diamond to get the best out of Vardy or Sturridge . It worked fairly well imo and England created enough to win .

adam fair point and i can see your rasoning which could work.
i wrote below, imo sometimes one has to adapt and adjust your best players to play together, much like Brazil did in 1970 with at least 4 #10 players playing OOP

He has to be the best player available in his position. Vardy isn't.

ruth: probably one of the top 3 best football teams ever assembled was the World Champ Brazil 1970.

you had at least 4 players OUT of position:
you had (4) No.10 players in jairzinho, tostao, rivelino, clodoaldo.
and it is up to Head Couch to make room for your best players to play along and not the best player per position. you adapt adjust.

btw, Pele was a #10 also. so you had 5 #10 players playing alongside.

1970 Brazil was the best team I have ever seen.

Jairzinho was a winger and played as a winger.
Tostao was an attacking midfielder or forward and played as a forward.
Clodoaldo was a CM and played as a CM.
Rivelino was the only one played out of position, a No 10 usually but played wide left. Clearly he had the talent to make that switch.

So, your statement is fundamentally wrong. In addition, Vardy doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as any of those players. He doesn't have the talent to play wide and he screws Kane up if he plays central. So it's best he's used as an impact sub. One of the few things I agree with Hodgson about. 😕

              Ruth, King, Adam,
              let me clarify this:
Jairzinho played as a #10 in his local team Botafogo.
Tostao played as #10 for his local eam Cruzeiro.
Rivellino played as #10 for his local team Corinthians
Pele played as #10 for his local team Santos

Clodoaldo played as a CM for Santos, but sometimes Pele would play as #9 forward and Clodoaldo would play as #10.

when i say they were #10, that means they DID play as #10 on their local teams. I see your point, but youre free to go check this. Ive lived in Brazil on and off and have seen and heard from multiple sources, the players themselves. Tostao is a brilliant football pundit for Fola newspaper, he even says it.

obviously, not comparng the talent of those brazilian players with that of Vardy. thats out of context. my pt is for a coach to think out of the box and adjust and adapt his best players and those in form to play alongside.

and vardy certainly is in beter form than both lalllana and sterling.

he's just really good at being an outlet for a team that's holding onto a lead, he showed it time and time again this season. he also stretches defences big time, forces them deeper, and having him in the team just gives that extra dose of energy to get you over the line.

No problem. Luckily I went Schar captain but 8 pts is not bad at all. Whoever you captain will have to score/assist twice which is hard to do.

do we really expect Muller to get more than a goal?

if he fails than I can only hope for one of my Spaniards (Morata or Juanfran) or Alaba/Rui Patricio on the last day.

This is my thinking - muller has to score 2 for the switch to be worthwhile. No doubting his class but I'm not sure it's worth the risk?

6 is pretty average for a captain. You probably shouldn't have Muller if you have little faith.

I doubled up as I thought it would be more productive than Muller and cheaper midfielders.

But if you picked Muller I think you are showing a lack of faith in yourself by not captaining

When I was living in Florida I had to drive past a McDonalds every day. It had a huge inflatable Ronald McDonald stationed behind the building, standing over it with his hands on the roof and a cheesy smile.

Obviously the inflatable developed a slow puncture because each day I passed he seemed to be leaning forward more and more. Eventually he was doubled up, leaning over the roof as if vomiting on those entering and leaving. Was one of the funnier things I have seen. 🙂

Doesn't it seem odd we play 433 but only take 2 wide players? Strikes me that this was a reaction to the performance last week in a diamond (where we played alli kane and vardy out of position).
