There’s just over 24 hours left until the Euro 2016 quarter-finals get underway, with DraftKings managers afforded a pair of fixtures over Thursday and Friday to assemble their eight-man squads from.

As we revealed yesterday, if you’ve yet to register, DraftKings are offering the opportunity of free entry to an upcoming contest for the quarter-finals over Thursday and Friday’s matches.

Providing you sign up via this link before 4pm on Thursday, your account will be credited with $3 by 6pm that day. Players should then use the credit amount to enter the “EUROS $13k Striker” contest on Thursday.

The first match of the quarter-finals sees Poland and Portugal go head-to-head for a place in the last four at 8pm tomorrow evening.

Both sides required extra-time to advance past the Round of 16, with Poland defeating Switzerland on spot-kicks, whilst the Portuguese progressed thanks to Ricardo Quaresma’s late winner over Croatia.

Fernando Santos’ side are the slight favourites for this one. Portugal sit fourth for attempts on goal over the tournament so far and have fired almost double the number of shots on target (23 to 12) than their opponents. At the back, it’s a similar story, with Poland conceding 33 efforts inside the penalty box to Portugal’s 20.

Wales take on Belgium in Friday evening’s 8pm encounter.

Marc Wilmots’ men are heavily favoured to advance to the semi-finals after sweeping aside Hungary 4-0 in the previous round. Certainly, the underlying stats underline the Red Devils’ attacking potential – they have registered more goals and shots on target than any side so far.

Wales, however, are second only to their opponents for goals (seven to eight) and, after squeezing past Northern Ireland, boast the highest shot accuracy (51.1%) in the tournament. In defence, Chris Coleman’s side have conceded less attempts inside the box that the Belgians and have the form to make a mockery of their underdog tag.

Fortunately, DraftKings allows us to scan the teamsheets before each fixture, adjusting your line-ups in search of some last-minute bargains.

Here’s our selection of DraftKings targets to help guide your picks ahead of Saturday’s contests.

Gareth Bale – Wales – $10200
Joint-top scorer for the tournament so far, the Wales talisman also leads the way when it comes to efforts on target – a total of 13 is five more than any player after four rounds of fixtures. As evidenced by his crucial assist in the 1-0 win over Northern Ireland, Bale will be vital to Wales’ progress and we can expect him to pose Thibaut Courtois plenty of problems as Chris Coleman’s men look to cement a place in the semi-finals.

Eden Hazard – Belgium – $8500
The Belgium wide man finally sparked into life last time out with a goal and assist in the 4-0 demolition of Hungary. More budget-friendly than team-mate Kevin de Bruyne ($9700), Hazard registered three shots and four key passes against the Magyars and, after a slow start to Euro 2016, looks to be building momentum for the last eight. It’s worth noting that Hazard is a slight doubt for the match after picking up a thigh problem.

Jakub Blaszczykowski – Poland – $6100
Restored to the starting XI for the win over Switzerland, the Poland winger grabbed the opener to take his tally to two strikes and an assist for the tournament – essentially, he’s played a part in all his nation’s goals so far. Given that he sits second for crosses and is top for successful tackles amongst Adam Nawalka’s squad, Blaszczykowski looks an excellent all-round option for our eight-man DraftKings squads.

Raphael Guerreiro – Portugal – $4900
The defender offers a reliable route into the Portugal rearguard at a time where uncertainty surrounds the right-back berth. Despite missing the final group match, Guerreiro still leads the way when it comes to successful tackles for Fernando Santos’ side and his raids down the flank have delivered 16 crosses – third highest in the squad. Having also supplied six key passes, his creativity could be vital to his nation’s prospects of progressing. Guerreiro picked up a minor muscle problem during the extra-time win over Croatia but has since returned to training earlier today, according to reports.

DraftKings contests for Thursday and Friday’s matches are now available, including the above-mentioned $3 entry “Striker” with a $13k prize pot. Those yet to register should check out this link to take advantage of the free entry offer.

DraftKings is available only to those aged 18 or over. Be sure to take note of their Terms and Conditions here.

Need some help with this decision...I'm leading my rival by 8 points but he has two differentials I really want to cover: Hazard and Giaccherini.
The problem is, I can't get both without a -4.

    Would you:
    A) only get Hazard, ignore Giaccherini
    B) only get Giaccherini, ignore Hazard
    C) get both for -4 and have an extra player for the round

    1. gazza0088
      • 9 Years
      9 years, 5 months ago

I believe Hazard's health is questionable so wait as long as possible, but I'd definitely want Haz in my team if fit.

I don't think Giach is worth the -4, but depends who you'd play instead.

      1. 420king
        • 11 Years
        9 years, 5 months ago

Yeah I know about Hazards health and will wait till the last possible minute, but I need to make a plan now.

Instead of Giach I'd play Rami, that's the problem 🙂

        DDG* McGovern*
        Hector Meunier Jedrzejczyk Rami* Dier*
        KDB Payet Ramsey Kroos Perišić*
        Ronaldo Müller Milik

I'd still ignore Giach. You'd be banking on a clean sheet against the best team in the tournament to make up for the -4 imo.

I'd be more comfortable bringing in Lloris or Neuer.

Well I agree about no hits, was only considering it to cover a differential (and have an extra player for the bench). Thanks.

Walsh, if Guerreiro starts, would you rather have:

        A) Müller, Guerreiro
        B) Griezmann, Rami*

Seems good. If Portugal lose you could be in a spot of trouble though. Courtois to Lloris/Neuer/Buffon seems tidy - Rui and Court combo is bad since they play each other next round you'll be stuck on one keeper.

Don't understand why WBA gk is good. They were absurdly bad defensively last year - surely will be a better option at the back than that. Not sure about Palace defense being worthy of investment they blew too hot and cold last year. Rest looks pretty good - will be interesting to see if Gerry D solidifies a spot. Ramsey seems a ludicrous pick for me. Hazard could be a great shout at 9.0 if he comes in at that price, but he does tend to start seasons quite slow....

Not a hope Haz comes in at 9.. i believe he started last season at 11.5 and we should see a drop down to a woeful campaign.. 10 at the least but more than likely 10.5 imo

I don't agree. His point total was absurdly bad last year. I don't think his name alone is enough to carry him to being among the top five priced midfielders in the game along with the likes of Mahrez, Payet etc. who got 200ish points. 9.0 doesn't seem unrealistic to me.

I considered Hazard as 10.0 when making this. But I priced all players at their max so when fpl does open I'll be able to improve on it.

I know I'm late. But agree. 40 midfielders scored more points than Hazard last season including Howson. He got one more point than Fletcher. I think this will be factored in the magic price algorithimiser and we'll have a bargain. Downside being probably at ridiculously high ownership.

WBA have good fixtures and at the end of the day Pulis.
Palace also a fixture based pick at 4.5 can't be so bad.

Ramsey might be a weird one but I expect us too see the old Ramsey back if he starts alongside Xhaka in the pivot.

His form right now at the euros I think will carry into the season and reckon he will get going quickly.

        Cheers for advice.

Any alternatives to those you disliked in defence? Considering Bournemouth at 4.5

WBA had no trouble conceding in their good run of fixtures last season I don't expect them to be water tight. Pulis seems to have been searching for a different brand of football last season as finishing 15-17th wasn't what WBA wanted to do. I don't like them this year at all. Think they could really struggle and be a shout for relegation.

If you're bullish on Ramsey seems okay I just don't share the same thoughts. I hate him 🙂

Too difficult to assess alternatives in defense before getting prices...but if there is a 4.5 Bournemouth that seems okay. I usually don't like sticking more than 1 4.5 defender in my GW1 squad though.

Maybe you're right but Myhill was a great source of points at the start of last season.
The cheap defenders are the kinda thing I hope to upgrade if the team is hopefully a bit below 100.0

We're doing great planning considering game isn't open anyway.

Do you think players might be priced differently this year?

January transfer players came in at uneven numbers(not .0 or .5). I have a feeling all players will be like that from the start

I have no clue mate. I feel like with the closing of UFPL and the inclusion of chips this past season they might throw us for a massive loop and reinvent it again. I think they are really trying to R&D the game to try to "improve" it if that is even possible. It's all just speculation but I have in my head thought of the few players I may try to build my team around but nothing more than loose constructs at this point.

Haven't thought about this at all personally.

      Front 3 looks brilliant 🙂

Midfield slightly light, not too sure on Ramsey but time will tell of course 🙂 Deulofeu and Redmond interesting picks.
Defence solid, Ayala pretty much nailed in for me too. I like the Kone pick.

This would be my team if I replaced the 4 guys who aren't playing in QF (DDG, Dier, Rami and Perišić)

    4.5, LLORIS
    Hector, Meunier, Jedrzejczyk, UMTITI, GUERREIRO
Payet, De Bruyne, Kroos, Ramsey, HAZARD
    Ronaldo, Müller, Milik

Not convinced by that attack...don't see Müller and Milik doing much and not having Griezmann/Giroud scares me.
Perhaps leave Rami in the team for semifinals, drop Müller and get Griezmann? Or get Giroud and a better defence?

    2. Ruth_NZ

Everything is risk. That's the nature of the game format. Portugal look fairly likely to lose to Poland who have looked like the better team so far and have conceded 1 goal in 4 games (a piece of brilliance from Shaquiri). In that context, having Ronaldo is also a risk.

It's Ronaldo of Portugal we are concerned with, not Ronaldo of Real Madrid.

What surprises me is that so many wildcard teams are big on Portugal. I'd have 4 or 5 Poland players and none from Portugal at all.

4 or 5? and if they're out, which is possible (portugal beat croatia, who are better than poland) you will have to use most of your transfers just on polish players
