Man United’s early season attacking form may have dried up dramatically but there’s no denying the Fantasy potential of Javier Hernandez continues to flourish. Three goals in his last four fixtures means the Mexican is the subject of our latest “Talent” article for Members…

The champions started the season on fire, bagging 21 goals in their opening five fixtures but since then, they have found the net just 9 times in the following eight games, scoring more than a single goal on just one occasion. Fantasy managers may have abandoned the likes of Wayne Rooney, Nani and Ashley Young in their droves but Hernandez has maintained a steady progress that has seen him the subject of Fantasy attention.

While never really offering the type of explosive returns that merit the captain’s armband, Hernandez is perhaps the most consistent attacking option at Old Trafford. In terms of starts, his most barren run has been two games without a goal- Wayne Rooney, on the other hand, has failed to find the net in his last six starts and hasn’t scored since gameweek five- Hernandez has netted four times since then and has returned double the number of Fantasy points, 42 to Rooney’s 21.

With a strong run of fixtures for the foreseeable future and form most definitely on his side, we delve into the Opta stats available to Members and analyse our own ICT Index to highlight his recent performances.

Do people think that if the max three players from any team rule didnt apply that you would change your team any?

Seems to me that what with the prices of top team players and the desire for "coverage" that its a bit of a redundant rule?

I already have Bale & with £800k in the bank - and VDV going down in price tonight - I could either go Bale > VDV next week or Adam > VDV and make £100k plus have someone guaranteed to play this week

I think his prospects are still good. Even if he has to cover a bit more, he never played that far forward anyway, and a lot of his points come from long, raking balls, corners and free kicks.

I really fancied him early in the season, but then he went off the boil for a while, but seems to be coming onto some form now. Could be a good shout, especially if Suarez can just get his shooting boots on

We can't sign an emergency keeper and our second choice Brian Murphy is also injured (no Yootha Joyce jokes please), so Cerny is pretty much uncontested now. He's good to go until you use your 2nd WC, in my opinion.

As far as i'm aware the contracts of 2 keepers on the books are going to be paid off, then a keeper will come in on loan. Cerny is carrying a knock with no back up so they will act asap.

True. But Hernandez seems to only need a few chances to put one away and Man Utd always create a few, though nowhere near their usual attack-happy selves. With Young back, I think Utd should create a bit more up front.

Form is such a weird concept.

When you think that most EPL players have probably been playing top level football/training every day for more than ten years, what are the actual factors that can make your performance vary so much game to game or month to month?

You'd think by that stage of your career its all instinct and muscle memory?

How can you go from not being able to miss at the start of the season to not being able to hit the target?

I struggle to think of another sport where ability seems to fluctuate so much

Because humans are imperfect and fallible.

Sometimes things just don't happen for you. It happens in Cricket, the NFL and MLB too. A lot of times its just mechanics, little adjustments that players make like not moving their feet, wrong throwing or pitching motion.

I expect its similar in football. Maybe players just are a fraction of a millimeter off in timing and that makes all the difference?

    Got a few problems, gents:

    Given Ruddy
    Lescott Enrique Brown WILKO Simpson
Silva VAN DER VAART DRENTHE Walters FOX
    RvP Adebayor Suarez

1 FT, nowt in the bank, players in CAPS are doubts.

Original plan was Given to Vorm, but got bigger problems now with all the doubts. Wilko and Fox are so cheap that I can't replace them with anyone half-decent, I want to keep VDV and I'd rather not sell Drenthe - I realise that doesn't give me a lot of options! Could just hope that one of those 4 play, otherwise got to be Drenthe to someone like Brunt.

I did agonise but got rid in the end.
His last 2 PPI were awful, so seems like he could have been carrying an injury.
Redknapp should realise that VDV needs to be 100000% to deliver his explosive performances and with Defoe in form and deserving / demanding a start and with a thoroughly beatable Bolton coming to visit that VDV is better rested.

And if he does play his chances of a big performance are affected by him not being 100%.

at the moment ive got suarez and aguero. ive had suarez for ages and he's getting really frustrating. it does make sense to keep him in there for his good run coming up. swapping aguero for ba seems crazy. maybe wait another week.

        No - Liverpool as well.

I just fear for the domestic game as a whole

Take tonight for example - 20 years ago the Palace boys and fans would well have been looking forward to playing the Man U first team - all the big stars. Possibly a once in a lifetime opportunity. Now your going to watch a game with a bunch of randoms and even if you win everyone else just totally devalues it

Twenty years ago crystal palace WOULD be playing Uniteds first side -- twice a season.

Football changes. Not all of it is necessarily ideal, but it changes.

Repost because everyone ignored me 😛

    Got a few problems, gents:

    Given Ruddy
    Lescott Enrique Brown WILKO Simpson
Silva VAN DER VAART DRENTHE Walters FOX
    RvP Adebayor Suarez

1 FT, nowt in the bank, players in CAPS are doubts.

Original plan was Given to Vorm, but got bigger problems now with all the doubts. Wilko and Fox are so cheap that I can’t replace them with anyone half-decent, I want to keep VDV and I’d rather not sell Drenthe – I realise that doesn’t give me a lot of options! Could just hope that one of those 4 play, otherwise got to be Drenthe to someone like Brunt.

    HELP!

'We do not welcome disruptive, offensive or abusive behaviour : contributions must be constructive and polite, not mean-spirited or contributed with the intention of rabble rousing or provoking a reaction'

Looks like I was rabble rousing and possibly mean-spirited, but surely if you don't want to provoke a reaction you wouldn't consistently put Victor Moses in the scout picks 🙂

I'm not a prolific poster on here so forgive me if it's been discussed before but your comment made me recall RBJ. Doesn't he not post anymore? What happened to the belligerent c unt?

He either got banned or he quit, but we get in trouble with the mods if we talk about him.

Rule number 1 - you do not talk about RBJ
Rule number 2 - you DO NOT talk about RBJ

Was one of my favourite posters.

Wow, you actually cannot say his full username on here, the post doesn't get through! Pathetic.

I was trying to say you've got a loooooong way to go to get anywhere near RBJ 😉

Could be coincidence, but 2 posts in a row with his full name didn't register.

Don't think it's coincidence. Still, it's pretty funny that you actually can't say his name. He has more notoriety than Voldemort. Would like to have heard some of his rants
