With four Premier League sides – Crystal Palace, Liverpool, Swansea and West Brom – all in action over the next few hours, we roll out a first re-cap of the summer fixtures to date this evening.

Listed below is a match by match breakdown of all the encounters so far, with details of goals, assists and line-ups.

We’ll be publishing a round-up of the latest results tomorrow, while all the pre-season scores, scout notes and form players are being captured and collated in our Pre-Season Section.

Carolina RailHawks 2 West Ham 2

The Hammers’ brief American tour ended in the early hours of this morning with no wins, a couple of goals and a 40-minute bad weather delay as their sights now turn to their UEFA Europa League third qualifying round first leg on July 28.

Skipper Winston Reid (who managed a goal at both ends of the pitch) was teed up for the Hammers’ first by Andy Carroll before the big Geordie put his side ahead thanks to a cross from new wide man Sofiane Feghouli.

Slaven Bilic rang the changes, with nine players swapped from the 46th minute onwards, and the lack of continuity, hot and humid conditions and the threat of further thunderstorms conspired to produce a second-half of little quality or incident – on the pitch, at least.

Although Sam Byram started both matches at right-back, it’s worth noting that Michail Antonio did not fly out for the US tour due to the recent birth of his child.

West Ham XI: Adrian (Spiegel 46), Byram (Makasi 63), Reid (Henry 63), Burke (Rice 63), Cresswell (Page 46), Obiang (Poyet 63), Noble, Feghouli (Quina 63), Samuelsen, Lanzini (Browne 63), Carroll (Martinez 46).

Seattle Sounders 3 West Ham 0

Slaven Bilic used no fewer than 21 players to start the club’s two-match tour of America on July 5, handing debuts to new signings Sofiane Feghouli and Havard Nordtveit, as well as youngsters Antonio Martinez and Domingos Quina.

Former Valencia star Feghouli caught the eye and quickly formed a partnership with another summer signing (from the same Spanish club), Toni Martinez, when the pair came on at half-time. The latter is expected to be eased into English football through the Hammers’ development squad.

In addition to the above-mentioned Antonio, Bilic is having to make do without star midfielder Dmitri Payet and defenders James Collins and Angelo Ogbonna as the trio rest up after their Euro 2016 campaigns. A fourth international, Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Darren Randolph, is likely to leave the club in search of regular first team football, whilst rumoured Sunderland target, Diafra Sakho, stayed behind in London due to a back problem.

West Ham XI: Adrian (Spiegel 46), Byram (Feghouli 46), Page, (Cresswell 46), Reid (Henry 46), Rice (Burke 46), Poyet (Nordtveit 46), Noble (Obiang 46), Browne (Quina 46), Samuelsen (Lanzini 46), Makasi, Carroll (Martinez 46).

Tranmere Rovers 0 Liverpool 1

A second-half strike from Danny Ings earned Liverpool victory in the first of a busy pre-season campaign which will also take in trips to America and Germany.

In a match that took place last Friday, Ings captained a completely changed second-half Liverpool line-up, firing home after good work from Academy player Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Coach Jurgen Klopp handed debuts to new signings Sadio Mane, Joel Matip and Loris Karius in the first period and had to delve deep into the club’s playing resources as a dozen internationals are yet to return to training following Euro 2016 duties.

Liverpool XI: First half: Karius; Flanagan, Matip, Lovren, Smith; Lucas, Brannagan, Ejaria; Kent, Mane, Firmino.

Liverpool XI: Second half: Bogdan, Randall, Ilori, Wisdom, Moreno; Stewart, Chirivella, Alexander-Arnold; Markovic, Woodburn, Ings.

York City 0 Middlesbrough 6

Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka was another to field 22 players as his newly-promoted side swept aside York City last Saturday.

Karanka was without new signings Victor Valdes, Bernardo Espinosa and Viktor Fischer and promotion winners Ben Gibson and Grant Leadbitter, but he will have been encouraged by the second-half performance of January capture Jordan Rhodes, who hit two goals in a lively showing.

David Nugent and Adam Reach supplied a goal and assist apiece, whilst wide man Albert Adomah also managed to get his name on the scoresheet.

Middlesbrough XI: First half: Mejias, Nsue, Baptiste, Morris, Husband (Friend 27), Pattisom, Forshaw, Adomah, De Sart, De Pena, Nugent.

Middlesbrough XI: Second half: Konstantopoulos, Halliday, Jackson, McGhee, Friend, Clayton, de Roon, Carayol, Downing, Reach, Rhodes.

Woking 1 Watford 1

New Watford boss Walter Mazzarro tried out a 3-5-2 formation for the Hornets’ first friendly of pre-season on Sunday, shifting to a flat back-four just after the hour mark.

Dutch winger Steven Berghuis opened the scoring midway through the first-half with a deflected strike (courtesy of an Ikechi Anya assist) as Mazzarro tinkered with both formation and personnel, giving new signings Abdoulaye Doucoure, Jerome Sinclair and Isaac Success debuts after the break.

One notable absentee was club captain Troy Deeney, who was left out as a precaution after sustaining a slight knock in training, while Almen Abdi wasn’t involved due to sickness.

Watford XI: Gomes (Arlauskis, HT); Nyom, Britos (Rowan, 85), Hoban (Success, 67); Amrabat (Holebas, 59), Capoue (Guedioura, HT), Suarez (Watson, HT), Berghuis (Doucoure, HT), Anya; Ighalo (Sinclair, HT), Vydra (Oulare, HT).

For sure, him & Bonaventura were Milan's best players last year. He's pretty limited in terms of being a versatile striker with good link-up play & has a very bad left foot. Great poacher, quick in the box, & always hungry for the ball.

63 goals & 17 assists in 112 apps (25 subs) in all competitions these last three seasons (Sevilla 13-15, Milan 15/16)

I'm extremely intrigued to see where Mourinho and United go with Rashford this season.

You could say that he's only a teenager, and should not complain about playing time - but then again, he was fast-tracked into the senior side, delivered a handful of top performances and looked mature enough, should he be happy being Ibrahimovic's sub? Add a bit of ego, and this could be another Paul Pogba.

    Let's see where this goes.

Not a album but funnily enough I've had Oasis on for the last half hour, laying in bed with earphones in, started with wonderwall and just letting YouTube automatically play the next song. Every song has been a good one.

Don't know if remembers the guy, but Ganso finally made his way to Europe to join Sevilla & Sampaoli. It's sad that he never mad the move earlier as he was one of the most sought after youth talents in the world at one point. Ganso was in the same 'class' of Brazilians with the likes of Lucas, Oscar & Neymar in Brazil. Was even competing with Neymar for the title of best player in Brazil for a while too. Great offensive play-maker & is a supremely talented dribbler.

yeah i feel the scary thing is his ownership is going to be huge so if does start with a bang those who go without will not onl be behind but paniicking to bring him in. It's a call that requires a lot of balls

True that. Ownership will be high in gw1, but will skyrocket once he delivers in gw1. I'm thinking of reasons to avoid.

also think he is overhyped but you never know. Must not underestimate the Mourinho factor. Ibra LOVES Mourinho so could see him putting in a lot of effort just to please him... - especially when they play MCI 😉

yeah this is definitely a factor, he will relish the role of main man for mourinho again. It really all comes down to whether or not he will adapt to PL

I'll just copy and paste the relevant bit from my comment to nidge and Jonny above

Personally I have no idea what to make of a 35 year old ibra taking on the prem for the first time. Won't be surprised if he does well, nor will if he really struggles to shine up top for a utd team with a serious lack of creativity aside from mkhitaryan.

Euro 96 was a really good England squad. And played a few good games (the Netherlands game was one of the best I can recall). We have a tendancy to play quite boring football on the whole it seems

Probably have to agree with Cheese the United teams all the way through the 90's were unreal actually believe the 93/94 double winners was arguably the best of the lot.. also at the same time Serie A was the strongest league around and many good memories of watching the live game every sunday and the highlight show on saturdays on channel 4.. Milan Juventus Lazio Parma Fiorentina Roma Inter all had top of the range players

        1. Zasa
          • 11 Years

Man, Serie A was a thing of legends in that time eh? The early 90's with Maradona dominating in Napoli, then Zidane, Ronaldo, Batistuta, Gullit, Rijkaard, Voller, etc.

I'm jealous you got to watch all that live. On paper, I don't think anything could top the magnitude of the talent & competition in that Italian football era.

Mid to late 90s to early noughties. I see my first ever game in 94, was 8, Upton Park, West Ham v Liverpool, fell in love with it all, the bright green pitch, the rain under the lights, the smell of tobacco and fried onions, the sound of bubbles, the roar when we scored. Also watching United on telly, fell in love with them, Cantona was my hero, loved those United teams, always look back now with fond memories, watching champions Tuesday's on ITV with my late dad, United ruled the world at one point, my dad didn't like football that much but he loved Fergie and United. Also in that era I loved watching football Italia on channel 4 and La Liga on sky, the Rivaldo/ Ronaldo Barca team, the Galacticos of Madrid, when Deportivo used to be good. Little things like the "goallozzzooo" music on football Italia and players like Signori, Batistuta, Weah etc. The good old days.

We enjoyed a very similar footballing upbringing mate relate to all that a lot great stuff and good call on George Weah forgot about him remember him scoring a hattie for PSG in the CL one year before his move to Milan.. frightening although didn't maintain it for very long

That Golazzzoooo commentator on the beginning of football Italia is such an iconic noise, only until a few years ago I always thought he was saying "goal, Lazio" but apparently it's just a long excited shout of "golazo " which means goal I think lol

Just thinking about those Netherlands teams in the 90's, dear almigh! Gullit, Rikjaard, Voller, Van Basten, Bergkamp, The De Boers, Kluivert, Davids.

Yet they never won anything even while managed by Cruyff 😯 Crazy

I sense there is a changing in the force in these parts so I think it is time for some introductions. PLease answer these questions

          What is your age?
          What country are you in?
What is your job (if you have one)?
          Are you married/single/coupled?
What football team do you support?
After football what sport do you have the most interest in?
          What is your favourite film?
          A fact about yourself?

          For me it is:

I also loved tennis in the 90s mate, mostly Wimbledon and cheering on Tiger Tim lol. But loved the Sampras dominance and Becker/Agassi trying to knock him off his pedal stall. Leyton Hewitt bursting on the scene, Phillippousis and Ivanisivic with huge, unreturnable serves. Having a crush on a young Martina Hingis lol. When other woman tennis players won grand slams like Graf, Navratilova and Clistjers before the Williams sisters came along.

Was as mad about Agassi as i was United from about 90 onwards followed his whole career scrapbooks and all sorts.. tennis in the 90s everyone was a household name even if you werent a fan everyone knew Sampras Agassi Becker Edberg Courier Chang Ivanesivic etc etc even Mcenroe Connors were still going but coming to the end early 90s.. Tiger Tim loooool was behind him as long as he wasn't playing Andre tbh.. was brilliant to think he reached six semis at Wimbledon.. Murray well n truly blown him outta the water now.. Graf the best lady of all time for my money and Seles could of been even better until her stabbing she was an absolutely frightening prospect not even the Venus or Serena could have lived with her at her peak imo

I honestly don't think there's any era where Serena doesn't dominate imo, has anyone has won in such spectacular fashion like she has? Apart form the career grand slam, I think Serena surpasses Graf in every other aspect. Not to mention she still has a few years to go.

I think by now it might be safe to say she's the greatest female tennis player of all-time & one of the greatest athletes ever. Dominating the sport in double & singles like she has for all these year is unprecedented in my view

Not sure about that at all mate for me Serena hasn't had the level of competition Graf had in the 80's and 90's and Graf had 22 slams by the age of 29 then retired at 30.. 107 career singles titles to Serena's 71 too.. a career grand slam is a monumental achievement the fact Serena hasn't been able to manage it tells you that.. Serena will pass her no doubt but imo Graf was the best... reason i mention Seles is she was briefly knocked Graf off her perch and they were hammer and tong for a number of years but nowhere near long enough.. from 1990-1993 Seles won 8 of her 9 grand slams before she was stabbed.. 8 slams in 3 years is pretty frightening

Isn't it even more remarkable that she's dominating the sport like she is now at 34 years old (in a sport where most women retire at 30 or so). Not to mention doing all of this after suffering through pulmonary embolism, losing a family member & various other injuries. If she had put the dedication she did during her resurgence back when she was in her early 20's, I'm sure she would've won as many titles as Graff did earlier. It's similar to what happened with Agassi

She still won in the face of many great players like Davenport, Capriati, Pierce, Hingis, Henin, & Clijsters. I still remember her beating Sharapova last year while she was coughing & vomiting to win the Australian.

It's also worth nothing the amount of titles Graff won after Seles' stabbing. It's worth noting Serena won 8 Slams from 2012-2015, she had never won 8 Slams in that kind of period. I don't think the age argument really warrants much thought considering they both hit their prime at different stages. And I find it monumental that she's playing at this level an age where it gets increasingly difficult to play. She's almost certainly faced more competition over a longer period. She's had so many women challenge her and not exactly take that number 1 spot from her because she's always been the favorite, but alot have also worked the points system. I don't think many past #1's were ever better than Serena like Wozniacki and Safina. I mean look at what she did to Kerber who was destroying everyone before Serena happened 😉

I think what we're witnessing is one of the greatest athletes of our generation, simple as imo

Serena is pretty much a man in, erm, mans body playing women's tennis. Graf doesn't even come close to her level.

I totally agree with u mate that's shes one of the best atlhetes of all time time just that Graf is right up there too and her achievements also are off the chart.. the age point is a great one actually and the fact that she is dominating at her age like Agassi was capable of too can't be ignored.. phenomenon

Have you seen the Hong Kong film on which The Departed is based? It's called Infernal Affairs and it's excellent, as is Infernal Affairs II. Infernal Affairs III is rubbish. It's pretty easy to track down, it was issued in the UK by Tartan, with high quality English subtitles.

Try to rail in your impulsiveness. It works against you in this game imo. The steady considered approach wins 9 times out of 10.

Goodfellas is immaculate, i prefer it to godfather by a huge margin. It is more realstic being based on a true story and entertaining while being just as clever in the plot. Absolutely love this genre for films, really hooks you in

I also am a big fan of Casino.

Oh and as a young kid i absolutely loved cricket. Played from the ages of about 5/6-12 and it was my favourite sport for most of that time. I then started to get a bit bored of it and had a growing interest in tennis which i took up instead and loved aswell, played for several years.

Not too difficult. A lot easier if you have connections to big business owners who can sponsor your work visa and thus let you do your own thing without worrying too much about the whole labor permit issue.

If you subscribe to the whole Gnostic theory (upon which The Matrix was based) that "waking sleep" is the biggest obstacle that humans face, China is the place to be. You're daily faced with occurrences that challenge the Western approach to life and that thus keep you on your toes. The business opportunities are staggering, so well worth the frustrations.

af ew hours before the season started the website went down. No one could make last minute changes and some couldnt even register a team. The response was to give everyone a one week wildcard, which pretty much ruined the season for some

Following on from that earlier discussion on Ibra, he is going to throw a big spanner in the works.
One would have to think he, and the team is going to be fired up for a big start, and with Bournemouth, Southampton and Hull up it poses a real quandry.
Leave him out against Bournemouth and he fires a couple of goals in what are you going to do to bring him in? Doing nothing risks watching the casuals race away, many with the armband on him. While buying him in would be difficult due to his high price. His absence could start forcing wildcards as early as GW 3

The alternative is to own him from the start, which might be the safer strategy. If he does nothing and his ownership falls away he is easy to swap to just about any other striker.

Either way it could be painfiul. Painful to own as it takes up so much budger stopping you from buying the other shiny new toys, and painful not to owqn should he make a fast start.

Impossible to know without seeing prices, however Cannot dismiss owning both out of hand, The option has to be considered, My template allows for around 29m on strikers so it is possible, would mean the third striker being a budget option.
If i did buy him it would likely be for the short term , while waiting to see who was hot and who not.

No mate like many i'm guessing you pick your team based on fear and ownership and go with the crowd which is common practice around here.. personally if i believed he may struggle i would have a little conviction in myself and trust my judgement and maybe go with an alternative i had faith in and maybe steal a march on others but each to their own.. i can't argue with your history mate that's for sure

this is the way to go imo. I'm not convinced on Ibra but i think it could be too risky to start without due to ownership. Much easier to get him out then in. A big factor will be if there some solid attacking enablers out there, may have to think a bit outside the box here as there is not always a Mahrez.

Yeah you're right, it is tricky. So many will have him, many at the expense of Aguero though- potentially a differential!

I think I'd back Aguero, go without Ibra, but be able to get him in for a -4 for the second gameweek, should there be huge reason to. The rest of the squad would surely be too unbalanced.

I have seen couple of players going into the season without form and continue to do not so well. It's happened before and I think Ibra could fall into this category. I understand his goal drought for Sweden continues and, to you, it probably is a different stage to club level.

I think his drought will continue for at least a good several games.

Yeah, or is he now considered a busted flush? I actually think he is the real deal. As in he does probably work for FPL (or related to someone who does) and does have access to pretty good updates. Don't expect him to be right every time.....

Just thought if testing was finished, then the game is ready and therefore they can move to updating?

I think the price difference between Zlatan+Eriksen and Mkhi+Kane will be the deciding factor on my second striker spot. I like all four prospects but I don't like starting with 2 attackers from the same team in gw1. It's a pain to ditch multiple assets from the same team if the side starts cold but relatively easy to max out on the right team if you start half way there with lots of squads. What's needed is good risk management when stepping into the most uncertain part of the season.

Some of the players that we saw struggle round here last season had gone all in on Chelsea and they ended up throwing their wildcard early or struggled for weeks getting rid of Chelsea players one by one whilst also trying to fight other fires such as Walcott or Depay. I only started the season with 3 double-ups in my team last season (Aguero/Kolarov, Pelle/Targett and Walcott/Mertesacker) and so although I had a couple of individual bad apples in Depay, Walcott and Hazard, it was still manageable. If you had Depay, Walcott and a full barrel of gone off Chelsea players it was much bigger problem to deal with.

I amm quite keen on the prospects of Lamela this season. Not as a starting Fantasy option, however i believe it will be this season he puts it all together and could be at a good price discount

I like him as a player too, but he has an annoying habit of being pulled around the 70 minute mark by Poch and Eriksen creates more as he gets the central role. For sure though, if there's a good price gap between the two then its a decision to be weighed up.

Yeah, trying to eliminate unsystematic risk myself. The first week is the week with the most unknowns. The best hedging is probably to spread risk around the squad, going for proven performers from various teams. Although with the second wildcard...could go all out on a few teams and wildcard if it doesn't pay off. The government bailout option.

Have done some serious number crunching over the past few days. Using a series of complicated & interlinked algorithms, spreadsheets & statistical modelling softwares, I think we might all be missing a trick.

On a previous page someone re-raised the advantages of starting in GW2.

In fact, the real secret is to start in GW3. I've got all the workings if anyone's interested, but basically a GW3 start will give you two full GWs of player data (rather than just the one) on which you build your team. And of course you save that all important WC for later in the season.

I for one will be starting GW3 this season.

I thought about that last year, seeing how many people started after me got higher ranks...

How exactly did you draw the conclusion?

Was close Zasa, results nearly indicated starting GW4 would be even better.

Surely though. If you select a good squad from the beginning and then just pay the hits for any changes to get the ideal squad, unless you have awful GW1 and 2 scores you will be in a better situation?

Don't ya hate that, how dare they get in the way of a solid afternoon on FFS.

Songs for the Deaf ... just wanted to say is also my favourite album, at least up there in top 3 of all time ... absolute belter! I saw them here last year with Nine Inch Nails and it was up there with one of the greatest live performances ... John Theodore is as worthy a Grohl substitute as you'll ever see.

I have seen them live once. I saw them play Glasgow on the Era Vulgaris tour. I do like them a lot

I saw Mark Lanegan play as part of the Gutter Twins as well if that floats your boat,

Good times. Concert venues are so far away from where i am now I don't get much of a chance

Quite partial to the gutter twins also ... Mark Lanegan is one of the "originals" in the 80s / 90s rock movement. Legend.

Enjoy the rest of your shift!

Annoyingly Lanegan played Aberdeen earlier this year on my birthday and I was working and could not go. That is only an hour away and so frustrating.

Only 30 minutes to go then 4 nights off. Woo Hoo!

Tell you who won't be in my team this season - Kane, Mahrez, Williams & Cech.

Sick of the sight of them.

Haha ... I'd love to think those pics are their profile pics also, whilst everyone else has the standard headshot.

You're right. Cech winks occasionally though, so it's worth staring at the screen for hours at a time just to get a wink.

Ah good spot.....is that from a zoom in on the sample team on the screen?

Surprised to see Ozil and Davis classified as GK's this season.......
