Next up in our series of members’ articles, which review the numbers behind the 2015/16 season, are Manchester United.
First up, we cast an eye over the Red Devils team statistics and compare them to the rest of the Premier League in Louis van Gaal’s final season at the helm, before delving into the data to assess their first-team squad, main goal threats and creative sources as we look to gain insight on their prospects under new manager, Jose Mourinho.
United ended the 2015/16 campaign in fifth position after racking up 66 points and were just nudged into the Europa League slots by rivals Man City on goal difference alone.
Whilst the Dutchman’s defence proved a handy source of Fantasy returns, the same can’t be said for United’s attack – they found the net on just 49 occasions, which was one more than Sunderland and down on their tally of 62 strikes in 2014/15.
