We continue our series of members’ articles, which review the numbers behind the 2015/16 season, with a look at Southampton.

To get underway, we assess the Saints’ team statistics in Ronald Koeman’s final year in charge and compare them to the rest of Premier League, before analysing their first-team squad, main goal threats and creative sources in an attempt to gain insight on their prospects for the upcoming campaign.

The Saints finished in sixth position after embarking on a superb run of form that harvested seven wins and a draw in the final nine league fixtures.

    Why the lack of love for Barkley? He's the best midfielder Everton has, he exploded last season, he's only 7.5 and has great fixtures. Lukaku hasn't scored many more points than him.

      yeh, i think he is going to be their main man this season, and his price is decent.

      But I think Everton are going to struggle for goals in those opening fixtures with Spurs, West Brom, Big Fat Sam and Stoke, even though could definitely win most of them.

        Considering that you have to select five midfielders and cannot choose all 8.5/9/10 those 31 midfielders get reduced to a much smaller number.

      Barkley plays too deep. Him and David Silva have the same problem. Both play CAM but like to start play from deep.

      Logical reasons why Barkley doesn't get as much love as his talent permits. He hasn't really improved for the last 2/3 years. V slow progression

      I think both Costa and Lukaku could be good options, but other than that I agree. Reckon Ibra will do well, but not paying 11.5 for him when I won't captain him in any of the first 5 GWs

    The Pulis effect?

    His sides tend to average about 12 CS a season I think.

    The problem is their unpredictability

      We all know about his phenomenal record at Palace and Stoke. They were defensive fortresses. 11 CSs is an awful return by his account, but still above average for a 4.5m defender.

      I really like the sexy keeper pairing of Mandanda and Valdes for the first few gameweeks; but it leaves me with Evans/Brunt as my 3rd competing with Lowton.

    Wow, RMT fever seems to have already hit. I didn't even start assembling a team yet and probably won't for a couple of weeks.

    I like some of the pricing, though. Some of my preferred targets have come in at the bottom end of what I expected. The value picks I have seen on a first trawl through:

    Heaton 4.5 (delighted), Hennessey 4.5, Foster 4.5

    Funes 5.0, Robertson 4.5, Friend 4.5, Koné 4.5, Taylor 4.5, Brunt 5.0 (also delighted), Evans 4.5

    Fabregas 7.5 (I find that unbelievable), Bolasie 6.0, Firmino 8.5, Fischer 5.5 (and could easily be OOP), Redmond 6.0, Eriksen 8.5, Siggy 7.5 (another snip I think)

    Hernandez 6.0, Deeney 7.0

    Seems to be a shortage of 4.5 mids though, my old favourite Fletcher seems to be the most likely at first look.

    Mahrez, Vardy (ridiculous) and Kane seem over-priced to me and I had hoped for less than 9.5 for Mkhi. There should also be some value after transfers - for example Bony at 7.5 would be very interesting if he went somewhere as 1st choice striker (Everton?).

    I'd be interested in who others see good value in (or the opposite).

      I like a hoard of 4.5M defenders. Still think LEI will be tight at the back and think they're great at 5.0. Fuchs i love at 5.5

      Like the look of a lot of 6.5-8.5 mids. Bolasie/Townsend/Alli/Firmino

      Feghouli at 5.5 could be great. So could Andy C at 6.5.

      Chelsea strikers at 9/9.5 is interesting.

        No point having Myhill as he is the same price as other 4.5 starting keepers so replace him with another 4.5 starter. Also gives you a choice rather than just stuck with Foster every week
