Our series of articles, which review the numbers behind the 2015/16 season, comes to its conclusion with a look at West Ham.

First up, we cast an eye over the Hammers’ team statistics in Slaven Bilic’s first campaign in charge and compare them to the rest of the Premier League and the previous season. After that, we then take a close look at their first-team squad, main goal threats and creative sources ahead of the season kick-off in just over two weeks’ time.

After finishing in twelfth place in 2014/15, the club parted company with Sam Allardyce and installed Bilic at the helm as they looked to cultivate a more attack-minded style of play in their final season at Upton Park.

It’s fair to say that the Croatian made an instant impact – away wins over Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City in the opening six Gameweeks set the trend for what was to follow, as the Hammers finished in seventh spot on 62 points, just four points behind fourth-placed Man City and 15 more than they managed in Big Sam’s final year.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

so do they base it on performance last season? Or take Pre season into account?

          No pre-season I don't think.

Based on last season yes, with weight towards the most recent games.

May become useful after 6 weeks into this season, but for now pretty much nonsense

Watford have tough fixtures for a long while. I've decided that even if he doesn't leave Stones is a good pick unless he's saved for transfer. So Baines is over kill. Howbout Terry.

going far too heavy on the forwards, spread some money across the midfield too, the midfielders offer you clean sheet points, more assist potential and more points for goals, so take this into account

For those planning an early wildcard, is Walcott too much of a risk?

With Giroud coming back late from holiday, Welbeck being out long term and Sanchez carrying a knock, I wouldn't be that surprised to see Wally start GW1 game up top.

why are people concerned with chelsea defence? first up against free scoring west ham who were awesome away last year and chelsea back line was dismal last season - not even signed anyone?

people are expecting Kante to perform miracles. John Terry is simply not that player anymore.

How "essential" is a United player? From the start, I've had Mkhitaryan in my team for United "cover" but when I think about it, Payet/Mahrez look like better individual prospects...

Better pick based on the player rather than the team right? Just a scary prospect going without any United players

mkhtaryan is a good prospect but the fact united are tipped to do well makes him even better as if they score more as a team its more likely he will get in on the action, whereas mahrez towards the end of last season was a good player but didn't score as well as he could have due to leister not scoring many

The other thing to bear in mind with Man Utd ( and for that matter Chelsea and Liverpool ) is that they've so many options that a lot of 'good' picks inc Mkh will quite possibly only get 70 mins.

Ok how is this looking peeps:

    Foster Jaku

    Azpi Shaw Evans Friend Smith
    Mahrez Mhik Ayew 7.5 4.5
    Aguero Lukaku Austin

Suggestions? I like the options @ 7.5 for that 4th spot, not Tadic (have Austin) not Barkley (have Lukaku) ...at the moment on Arnie.

Nope. But been watching closely. He won't be in a hole, that's for sure.

Alongside Kante seems very likely, and don't think deep is all that bad tbh.

Will tick over with returns every other game imo. Fixtures early on and a few good returns will that price rocket. Such good value

Ayew personally. Although Swansea looking at Llorente to fill ST gap i dont think its necessarily a bad think for Ayew. I reckon Llorente will be the type of player to hold things up and set up/play through balls to the likes of Ayew

    Foster Pickford
    Terry Shaw Ayala Naughton Teixeira
    Mkhitaryan Firmino Willian Ayew Capoue
    Agüero Vardy Austin

Ayala and Naughton rotation is - STO HUL wba
Teixeira is my 4.0 defender who should according to some Stoke fans get some sub apperances but he will not even be in my starting 11.

Agreed. Unless we get confirmation or a strong hint from the manager in the pre-match presser I'm staying away from the likes of KDB, Payet, Lukaku, Ozil, etc.

So far City look solid at the back and it looks like they've gone with 3 at the back - 3421 in the first half and 3 at the back at the start of the second - 343 / 352

    High pressing game too

Aguero, Silva and Yaya on as subs - Silva part of a front 3

Hi guys, here's my first draft - please let me know what you think...

    Forster, Heaten
    Shaw, Walker, Sagna, Friend, Paredes
    Hazard, Mkhi, Eriksen, Fischer, Gradel
    Aguero, Gray, Berahino

Do you think Sagna will start?
Picked Berahino hoping he moves to palace, if not then Long

    1. Super Frank8
      • 10 Years
      9 years, 4 months ago

Looks solid. Don't like the fact that you will be benching one of Gradel/Fischer or Berahino each week though. Maybe go 3-4-3 and downgrade Fischer/Gradel then upgrade elsewhere?

    2. Bazroy99

Personally, I won't have a City defender in unless Kompany is there - headless chickens and rotationville. But things might be different under Pep. Berahino's game time is a risk, especially alongside Gray who might struggle initially with the pace.
